Too late to become a professional athlete?
Sweden m4st4m4st3r4wp
Do you think its too late to become a professional athlete in some sport when you are starting out at 21 years old? I used to play table tennis when i was 10 years old and was pretty good but i just stopped for some reason. Im thinking of maybe joining some club for table tennis or maybe try badminton. Do you think its possible now to become a professional in one of those sports if im starting now? And studying at the university at the same (pretty easy studies though). Or do you think i can only become like a division 2 player or something?

its not. or it is but it will take way too much work in not enough time

No but don’t invest all your time into trying to do so, because it is very unlikely to be one as it is

Table Tennis doesnt really need that much energy so yeah if you are good you can go ahead

That's a myth xD I can confirm that table tennis is fucking draining. Especially if you're a professional.

It isnt comparable to other Sports tho, for example if you were to try to become a Professional Swimmer/Footballer it would be way harder

Please try the sport at a professional level, get rekt and then comment please xd I'm telling you, table tennis is fucking hard af. Short bursts of energy over long periods of time and with the mental strength required, you would just get fucked within one set.

Alright mate. Your opinion and I can't hate on it. But I have a quick question. Have you ever played either sport on a professional level?

So I represented my state in table tennis and it isn't impossible to do it at 21. Since you probably know the basics and have a good idea on fitness, training techniques and service practice, I suggest you don't jump into professional table tennis immediately and instead, try to take some time breaking into the sport again. We both know table tennis can be super hard sometimes so make sure to never give up. You can do it for sure!

i mean if you are a freak athlete or something i dont see why not, but you really have to understand how unlikely this is

it's rare. I think Damon Hill started racing when he was 21 or 30 because his mum banned him from racing due to his father's death. Same with Bruno Senna being banned from racing due to his uncle's death.
