Bo1 format sucks in RMR
NiKo |

It favors underdogs too much. They have 3 bans. So they only need to prepare 4 maps at most. They know the enemy veto, so maybe they need to prepare only 1-2 maps which is easier than to prepare 5- 6 maps. If they win 2 random pistols and anti force, they have insta 6 rounds. Which is huge in Bo1.

So they dont get absolutely stomped and maybe even upset like cphfl. Although thinking about that now thats technically not a good thing as youd want the best of the best teams at the major

it does, but they had no time for 24 team tournament with bo3 group stage..
2021-10-03 00:32
You have a point when it comes to map preparation, but "winning random pistol" is not an argument. If they win all those rounds you listed maybe they are just the team deserving of the W

Pistol is a 50/50 which favors underdogs.

That is not true at all. There is a lot of strategy you can put into pistols. Also, better individuals play a huge role in pistol rounds. or are you saying that a team with NiKo, Hunter, etc in it has a 50% chance of winning a pistol round against AURA?

I say a team with NiKo, Hunter have a higher chance of winning a gunround vs Aura than winning a pistol vs Aura.

I don't agree, but even if that were to be the case we still have 2 pistol rounds and 28 non-pistol rounds. bo3s have the exact same ratio so I don't see how it would play a role in the first place. You aren't making an argument against bo1, you are making an argument to abolish pistol rounds

Pistol rounds are more random because it relies more on aim than on strategy. In a gunround the focus is on rotations, nades, strategy etc. Way more variables to be good at. In pistols you mostly have some nades and you pop out somewhere as T.

How does pistol rounds relying on aim make them random? If I were to play aimduels against a better player I would lose most of the time, there is no randomness to it. Aim is part of counterstrike, we are not playing chess here. If a team wins pistols and followup rounds due to superior aim, where exactly is the problem? Btw this discussion has nothing to do with bo1 vs bo3 anymore

It seems you dont know anything about Tier1 CS. Do you really think teams like Gambit are better than a team like ENCE/Spirit/ Liquid because they have better aim?

I did read it he basically said that if a team WHERE to win a pistol round purely out of aim then it is not random and that does in no way suggest that he thinks because of this that teams like Gambit are better than a team like ENCE/Spirit/Liquid because they have better aim

CS is very strategic. It seems you dont play CS for a long time or you just are not very good at the game.

2021-10-03 00:35
Well teams have plenty of chances to come back with 5 different games
2021-10-03 00:38
Just win 16 rounds lmao
2021-10-03 00:59
you just explained why bo1 is great, for example developed teams already have good chance to go in big tournaments so bo1 gives chance to more people
2021-10-03 01:00
I can see only one team who got fucked by bo1s and it's Complexity, although it's still their fault because their map pool is awful and teams can just ban mirage and vertigo (not even mentioning all of their other problems) Everyone else played like they should've played in bo3s, better teams are winning, underdogs are not some random flukers, they were proving themselves in tier 2 for some time.

I love it! Sad for Dignitas but it seriously is so much better for a groupstage. All excitement in the one map, and you can watch your favorite teams without having to spend 6-8 hours!

Yeah it is good. Just seems like tier 1 teams often underestimate their enemies and think like "oh ok now we play with those bots so lets better prepare to our next game vs g2/big/heroic/any other tier 1 team" Those tier 2 teams on the other hand focus 100% on every game and work hard to prepare vs every opponent.

+1 this makes sense
2021-10-03 10:50
It doesn't make bo1 system bad in any way imo. Those underdogs just being given a chance to qualify anywhere by preparing hard for higher-tier opponents. Otherwise we could get always fixed bunch of teams performing at any even semi-big event (and we had this for quite some time), which is obv sucks

So what? If u r better, u should be better at every map. agree that it reduces the pleasure of watching, but still, it is fair.
2021-10-03 10:42
I like underdogs.
2021-10-03 10:43
every team have 5 matches to prove that they deserve their major spot. imo it's more than fair enough
2021-10-03 10:46
If it was double elimination group I would agree but since its not I dont agree. The importance of one bo1 is reduced with swiss group. Imo this is better system than bo3 double elimination for groups. Bo3 swiss would take a ridicilous amount of time and ppl would get bored of the tournament before groupstage is even concluded.

Why does this rmr even have 24 teams? These B01s are deciding too much They could have used the flashpoint system so they wouldnt need to give a 3 day break. Round robin just takes too long and creates ties which leads to have tiebreakers as well

Bo1 is against competition of the best. Good teams have to play vs luck. Cpf are a great example. Sinners would have a chance but they wouldn't go so easy. Big is a team that works a lot in bo3 with comeback. They lose easy a Bo1.

I mean I agree with 4 hours is a long format. Bo1 doesn't allows team to make a comeback with slow starts and all. But at same time, it adds the sense of urgency to win forcing players to bring in their A game. Man, I am truly confused whether I like or dislike this format.
2021-10-03 14:18
Completely agreed
2021-10-03 11:26
Yes Bo1 too random, team with better rating should instantly win each match
