25% of every battle pass purchase goes towards the prize pool. csgo doesn't do that because they have more than 1 big tournament all year

wdym dota has 5 dpc majors and 3-5 minors each year. Each majors prize pool is 1 million$ (5m all combined) and each minor is 300k$. Which is far more than csgo

Because CS is not so popular in the Asian segment of the market.

But csgo prizepool would be hell of a lot bigger as well if ingame merch sales went to prizepool like dota seems to do. The base was only 1,2 million and community raised it to 40 million.
2021-10-17 20:38
because dota 2 is kid friendly game

The Battlepass is kinda like the Operation pass in CSGO. Valve just give 25% of the battlepass to the TI. Also csgo has stickers, which SPUNJ once said made a top 8th team at the Berlin major more than 2 million.

+1 we dont really know how much cs community contributes to teams payout through stickers which may be on par with dota
2021-10-17 20:21
I think sticker money should be in prizepool instead so teams that prove to be good actually get more from it and not based on team popularity.

Because you don't play CS for moneys
2021-10-17 18:19
Dota 2 prizepool is lower than csgo major this year, because its 1.6million and than 25% of battle pass is added, in csgo prize pool is 2million and players and orgs get 25% of sticker money so it split more even between teams instead of 1 team getting the majority

This year yeah but usually, apart from TI with 1.6m, dota have several majors with 1m prize pool liquipedia.net/dota2/Dota_Major_Champion..

I understand that Valve could only give around 1.6m every year for TI and the only reason it goes high its because of battle pass.
2021-10-17 20:10
But isnt sticker money based on whose stickers are bought the most. Thats kinda stupid to spread money based on team popularity instead of who actually plays better in the major.

chrisj said that popularity doesnt realy make much difference in recent majors and money are more or less equaly distributed among all teams
2021-10-17 20:45
#1 while in CS this part of money goes directly to teams (stickers money for example). So orgs and players farm money on majors anyway, we just can't see how much. But it's definitely not much less than on TI

I doubt money from 0.30$ stickers even reach 5m in total lol, MOBA is just much more monetizable than fps game.

I remember someone (was it pimp?) saying that they actually earned a lot from stickers while playing in a team, but legends get like ~6x of that already decent amount of money
2021-10-17 18:40
cs go no chatwheels
2021-10-17 19:58
They can certainly make a shit ton from stickers, over 2 million if in top 8 of the major.
2021-10-17 20:02
because dota2 prizepool formed by crowdfounding

We need 25% of all operations to go into the major
2021-10-17 20:07
We had 11 majors with 1.5m prize pool in 2018 season followed by 35m ti8.
2021-10-17 20:15

2021-10-17 20:34
csgo gives around 20 milion in sticker money, normaly we have 2 majors so the money is comparable and I hear all the time from my friend who is dota fanboy that International is cool and all but it realy isnt healthy for the scene
2021-10-17 20:41
valve dont care about csgo. Gaben actually makes TI appearances
