Why does Valve love DOTA more than CSGO?

2 Million for CS major, 18 million for DOTA2 Major. Someone explain please. Is DOTA 9x better than CSGO?

no bro, prize pool is still directly out of volvo's pocket, it's just that some % of sticker sales go to players (and it's always been like this)

no it doesn't , teams get % of money spent on the stickers, valve gives 0 money

yeah I just said that, only the prizepool is Volvo's money
2021-10-19 20:34
he literally said that It's 50/50 split between Valve and Org. Org can but don't have to give this money to player, they often split it so players get like 25% of stickers money (but some orgs give it all I guess)
2021-10-19 21:16
we dont know how much sticker money they give to the orgs, but based on that spunj said that if BnB qualified for the major the stickers would've easily been 1mil i'd say its alot. They just give the money to the orgs in CS instead of making the prizepools massive. Which is better for the orgs imo.
2021-10-20 14:05
50m ? Where did u get those numbers lmao? You really think Valve earns a lot from selling 0.30$ stickers ?

Just guessing If dota could do 40m prizepool I'm sure that cs can do over 50m, maybe not only from stickers, but also from selling the viewerpass (it would have to be released a bit earlier tho)

I searched and there has been sold about 16 million 2020 rmr capsules and they sell cases, skins, more stickers, operation stuff, patches and the 15% csgo community market fee adds a lot of money considering how many items get sold per day. Those small numbers stack up eventually.
2021-10-20 08:49
"Valve could literally get $50m for free but they choose not to do it" Yea, sure. xD
2021-10-19 21:26
1 reply
More likely they choose to do it instead of giving it out in the prizepool. Operation passes are kinda comparable to battle pass but volvo takes all of it instead of putting in prizepool.
2021-10-19 21:40
It cant. Dota 2 has too many content. over 100 heroes and many items. So its ez for valve to make compendium for Dota. CS don't have much though recently they have added Character skins and stuff. But players aren't even allowed to use them at tournaments. It's Crowdfunding through battlepass. I ever doubt with content way lesser than Dota, how you think CSGO can reach 50mil$ lol

I think the difference is that the individual players for cs get money for their stickers if they make it to the major, whereas Dota all the major shit goes to the prize pool

like 50% of the sales go to the orgs, not really surprising
2021-10-19 21:37
Well, player capsules. As far as I understand money are split evenly between all players in there if you buy it (well, part of it). Team stickers obviously go to orgs. And I believe they get nothing from community market.
2021-10-19 21:38
It would be reasonable, considering the sheer amount of orgs that manage to get by without expressive sponspors or good results.
2021-10-19 21:59

Yeah can believe that… spunj said he had a bit of insight and that he was surprised
2021-10-20 17:12
in csgo the more popular players/teams get the money instead of winner of the major. Players make some good cash with the stickers. I wouldnt even be surprised if the total is higher then for dota tbh
2021-10-19 17:54
the crowdfunding is different in cs to dota, the crowdfunding goes into stickers for cs, so all the players who get into the major still get a lot of money, in dota they just place the money into the actual tournament.

Counterstrike is a game very hard to get into, not just the game itself but the community Learning all the new concepts in game - lineups, console, a + d, standing still, 1 tap versus spray, economy, flashing, boosts As well as the community - all the terms, region-specific callouts, memes, teams, and history

CSGO also has a less friendly community, for example a new player loads up csgo and then queues comp mm, but oh wait, first they need to play casual game modes After playing casual, they queue comp only for it to take a year, and when they finally get a game, 1-4 hackers in the entire game and they have no idea how to play in a team environment
2021-10-19 20:29

#91 and wtf you on about, how is community even related to what you said? Yeah they need, same as in lol and dota(i think?). If you are new to the game, maybe first learn it and then play ranked, if you already know the game it takes a couple of hours to get to playing ranked... a year, maybe less than 5 minutes, fuck if you are so busy, maybe don't play a game lmao? yeah yeah hackers again, not everyone that plays better than you is a hacker, ur just a bot. The hacker could be as well be in your team, but don't see you saying anything about that. You betas lose, blame hackers and cry on hltv, I have seen like 10 hackers in 4k hours...

Dota uses battle passes to increase prize pool, whereas CSGO Majors come entirely from valve.

Sure the winner gets a lot, but if u do the sum of all the stickers revenue it would be probably higher than the TI's PrizePool. But i agree if you won the TI you'd get more than if u won a major + stickers money

I remember that EliGE said that player earn the most money from their first ever sticker around 40,000 dollars maxx and that the amount get's lower and lower with each sticker so no man stickers aren't that much of a deal, they could add agent patches and team skins to help players if they wanted
