Best mechanical switches for typing
rain |
Czech Republic CyberBOT
Hello ladies and gents What would zou saz is the most satisfzing/comfortable mechanical switch to type on? I'm currently undecided between linear and tactile switches, but if I'm goin linear then the current favourites are the NovelKeys Creams and Gateron Black Ink. I'll probably be using a Keychron K8 (unless I can get my hands on an Idobao ID80) and I'll be lubing and probably filming the switches

See that'd be right, but I have no way to try out most of the options, I've tried the creams at a friends place, but with a different board and they weren't filmed. so I can't be exactly certin about the result

ask on reddit my guy, here are 90% kids with hyperX keyboards bought by their parents.

I probably will, but there's a (miniscule) chance that someone might actually have some good advice
2021-11-23 12:51
Edit 1, you were absolutely right, so far most people recommend Blues :D One guy mentioned electrostats though, I guess we were both right :D

only the " zou saz is the most satisfzing", the rest is normal

Yeah, it's the switching between EN and CZ layout, Z and Y are switched and the number row is replaced with special characters (like š, č, ř, ý or ě), I didn't realize I've made the error until two seconds after posting
2021-11-23 14:46
I recently got a niz plum atom 68 (electrostatic switches i.e. basically a souped up rubber dome) and it beats any of the mechanical keyboards I've used over the years hands down

I've heard about e-stat switches a few times, but I haven't had the chance to try them out yet
2021-11-23 12:58
Why are they better ? I've personally felt that my mechanic board strokes are far too long does this keyboard share the same characteristics? I'm pretty sure my old rubber dome keyboard was more responsive due to the actuation point being higher.
2021-11-23 14:15

light to press, quiet in terms of sound generally more responsive, i just make less typos and type noticeably faster. actuation point is configurable on these but i haven't experimented with it yet

It's nice, but I kinda like the more thoccy switches,
2021-11-23 14:37
Is the length of the keystroke the same as most mech keyboards or is it shorter? For example what in looking for is the ability to jiggle peak better for example which was better on my shitty 30dollar rubber dome board. Also which type did you get 35g 45g ? And game I'm pretty damn interested on this one.
2021-11-23 14:35

mine is 35 grams. I would say the keystroke feels shorter, but like i said that is configurable

That is possible, but they deliver what they promise especially with durability. They will get to that 20-50M strokes if not further

the "smoothest" are optical switches cuz they arent mechanical

I actually forgot I'm on the czech one, I'm usually using the english layout more Not really all that interested in gaming performance tbh, I've got a G915 TKL for that, the low profile is acutally quite nice, I'd be using this one for/at work

yeah still theyre both best linears to type on and if you hear some redditor idiot tell you gateron ink penis filmed cryton 69x0 lubed blacks or whatever switch is hyped right now is better, ignore them cuz it is just wrong and pure hype

Your posts doesn't deserve an answer, you didn't post here in hope of an answer or opinions, you did it so that tou can flex on kids and insult them when they talk about cherry switches. Indeed, cherry blue are the best for typing unless you're specifically interested in very high end stuff, and there's nothing wrong with them either. Clown

Nah, it's just that if you're only interested in the basics, cherry switches are fine, theyre just massively overhyped because "Woohoo gaming keyboard goes brrrrrrrr". I'm trying to get more into the les gamer-y, more typist oriented mindset, and once you get past the basic red+blue+brown combo, you'll discover there's a lot of variety to be had. You don;t even have to spen that much, a Gateron Yellow is a really good budget switch and is regarded as a really good switch even amog the "$800 custom board" gang. About blue switches being best for typing, that's honestly a matter of preference. It's true that they're aimed more towards typing that the red switches, which are aimed more towards gamers, but if one doesn't ike clicky switches, theyr'e hardly the best for him. Also about me insulting cherry switches (Blues specifically), I assume youre referring to #14, which I understand can make me sound like a total douche, but at that point several people recommended Blue switches after I pointed out I'm looking for linear or tactile switches, not clicky ones. I was getting mildly annoyed with the response
2021-11-23 13:27
youre wrong
2021-11-23 13:41
how the fuck are cherry blues the best for typing that doesn't even make any sense at all. there is no best switch for typing since it's all down to preference and even if there were one it for sure wouldn't be cherry blues.

novelkeys.com/collections/frontpage/prod.. i got these recently allthough i never heard of them before i thought they'd be decent since they are from NK . lubed them with kryox 205g0 and filmed them with deskeys board i used is a tofu 65 in burgundy red with GMK Darling i got off a friend for quite cheap one of the best linears i've used so far

Ooh, shinies! Any comparison with either the NK creams or Gateron Inks?
2021-11-23 14:44

didn't use either of those before so i can't really compare. i bought the olivia ones which have a pretty low actuation and bottom out force but from the numbers the blacks seem quite simillar to ink blacks. you 100% need films tho since they're not that tight and a have some wobble and apparently they improved the pre lube job on the switches so you might not even have to relube them
2021-11-23 19:05

Tempting, I haven't actually lubed any switches yet, so a good prelubed one might be nice

if you want factory lubed switches you could also check out kbdfans tho they are a little more expensive kbdfans.com/products/pre-lubed-switches i've heard the lubejob on glorious lynx & panda switches is pretty good too pcgamingrace.com/collections/switches

Classic Cherry MX Reds, i like linear switches better and i love the feel on these, the only sound they make is when they hit the backplate, so if you have an aluminum one like me they'll sound pretty good while not waking up the whole house
