In Brazil the free health care it's a mass if you need a specialized treatment like root canal, implants, surgery or others and you don't have enough money for a private office the pacient always choose to extract the tooth, I know this because I work 3 days a week in the SUS, (free Health system in Brazil), I probably extracted more than 500 teeths this year. And the health insurance for dentistry is cheap and have coverage only for restorations and cleaning profilaxy, so if you want to have a health and beutiful smile you will need to brush your teeth 3 times a day for the hole life or you will have to spend a lot of money in a private office. It's sad but 80% of the Brazillian population doesn't even have the high school and families lives with 220$ month. So they have money only to pay the basics like food electricity and water supply.....

What I'm gathering is specialized treatment from the government healthcare is hard to get (would be nice if you could elaborate a bit on that) and the same treatment in private hospitals is unaffordable for many and they'll rip you off every time you need it. So people instead opt to get their saveable tooth removed. If you're removing 500 teeth this year itself, that's even more incentive for the Brazilian govt to expand the scope of specialized treatment. Any reason why that's not being done?

Corruption, low salary for specialized profissionals, education, low investment in health. But probably the most f.. problem is the robery from our politicians. We have "CEO" specialized centers in odontology but is the some thing that happens in your country 3 months of queue, and have only in big citys. The city that I actual work for the government have 2.000 citizens, it's a rural city, people that work in the farms probably have the most low level education in Brazil. I'ts probably the some issues happening in 3rd world countrys.. =/ it's sad Most of people doesn't have enough money to eat.....

why teeth needed if u can't afford food ? huh
2021-11-27 09:40
that's not really true in a way, because municipalities and cities have considerable freedom when it comes to how they organize public healthcare. soitin ittelleni särkyajan hammaslääkäriin ja sergei ihmetteli et mitäs sulla vikana hampaassa, ei löytäny mitää vikaa ja sitte totes vaa et se jospa hän vähän aukasee ja kattoo. ohoh, hammas mätä sisältä. no juurihoitoo alettii tekee sitte siinä välittömästi ja sain palvelusetelin myöhemmin, jossa oli käytännössä kilpailutettu eri yksityislääkäreitä alueelta ja ei tarvinnut muutakuin soittaa johonki niistä ja sanoo et on palveluseteli. ei tarvinnu oottaa yhtään.

it was just further elaboration on how the system works in the municipality/city i live in. basically if the public healthcare system is clogged up the city gives you a "service bill" which is kinda like a discount coupon to privatized healthcare. the rest of the comment in finnish is just my personal experience. i didn't have to wait at all to get my tooth fixed.

root canal treatment is when a decay reach the nerve of the tooth and you have a f.. pain. I think in india is $35 they use cheap materials from china. Here in Brazil with the dollar quotation today the average is 120$ ~ 220$ without the restoration or total crown

Wow but he probably is not able to use the most technological and new techniques in endodontics Today most of the cases we need only 1 sitting to close the treatment.

Depends on the size of the clinic. For most small to medium-sized ones that are the most accessible, you gotta get your procedure done in multiple sittings. If you go to a top super specialty clinic, you can get it done in 1 day but it's gonna cost a bomb.

it's easy to get rich as a dentist in Poland not the CEO level of richness but upper middle class tier with monthly paycheck between 2000 - 4000 euro, without a super stretch doesn't seems a lot - but costs of living are different here, but i'm guessing you would make more money in USA anyways and it's closer than Europe
2021-11-27 10:00
?!??!? Do you go bankrupt every time you visit a dentist?

Dental & Optical care is not free in England, any other type of care is though. Only time dental care is free is if its an emergency, ie: you had to go to Accident & Emergency (Emergency Room for Americans) for them to stop a case of bleeding or something else serious.

zero euro like all healthcare
2021-11-27 08:06
10-30 Euro
2021-11-27 08:17
It costs 150-300 USD here, depending on the number of canals. But you may do it for free if you go to a community clinic. Back when I was a student I went to do it for free to a community clinic, 5 years after it turned out that I got a huge 1,5 cm cyst which spreads into my sinus because they did not cement the root properly. I had a terrible sinusitis, had to remove the tooth and to undergo a surgery this summer. Had my jaw x-rayed few days ago to see if the cyst is gone, the doctor appointment is next week, but I took a look at the x-ray results myself and to me it looks like the cyst is still there :( I have mostly had a moderately positive experience with Russian free dental healthcare, but this particular case will probably make me wanna avoid free healthcare forever.
2021-11-27 08:19
200 - 400 eur (3 canals) if you don't have dental insurance (which is abt 10 eur per month) and are over 18
