And almost all of them once were around the best in the world. Funny thing is that Tentpole was the best player on fnatic at the time where they could be argued as the best ever fnatic-lineup.

f0rest was always the best fnatic player though. Tentpole had a really strong period however.

And during that period they were at their best while him being the best, hence my comment :) got it? Overall: ofcourse f0rest was the best, gtr challenged for a while (and even Gux for a really short period), but he was always slightly better.

Understandable :) I just remembered a forgotten romanian (csgo)pro: cosmeeN What happened to him? He was great!
2021-11-29 15:23
Tentpole was not on the best version of fnatic... Not even sure where that came from. 2009 fnatic was the best version of the roster, and it ended up that way by them losing tentpole and INS. Not that tentpole was bad (he was very good), but he just wasn't there for fnatic dominating everyone until Navi came along.
2021-11-29 21:48
3 replies
Lets agree to disagree. Followed every map played back then, and i’ve never seen fnatic so dominant as when tentpole was on fire during his prime. And yes, i agree he fell off at the end. Even i won against him at lan just a couple of months after that (to be fair, he played at the lan together with Jaegarn and 3 other old pro’s which retired years before that).
2021-11-29 23:11
2 replies
I mean that's fair, but statistically speaking fnatic's best year was 2009. I wouldn't say he fell off, it mostly seemed like his desires changed. There's a reason he's a giant bodybuilder now! That's cool though. I've played a bunch of pros, but definitely not the international 1.6 guys.
2021-11-29 23:39
1 reply
Can't disagree on that (amazing year btw as a fnatic fan). I think he just didn't fit in, as a person he wasn't the friendliest of them all so to say. haha I can imagine that, but in the states? I think in general it was easier for swedes to play pro's/semi-pros back then (small country) :)

SK.vilden was fire. also ahl was pretty good. also add to your list Snajdan, fisker, FYRE77 and zneel (best famas ace of all time) Hehe. also I think zneel got that 1v5 on knife round in a mirage game in 1.6... *sigh* the good ol' days... also nice to meet you man, you seem to be from my time :)

mSx is probably a player not many guys ever heard about. NEO is still active btw., he created his own org. with TaZ and is trying to teach young players how to play the game, he is still decent tbh., and seems like a good support element, maybe we will hear about him once more one day. I would say DESPE is another forgotten one, he used to play in Space Soldiers and at one point was one of the best player in Turkey.

Torpedo lineup was so weird, cant tell if they were sus or not but just felt like nobody kinda knew these guys despite being around for 3ish years. They all had similar nicknames aswell (zende, atter, downie, darti, decent), never really got anywhere individually, and didnt play for many teams outside of torpedo. Such a weird collection of swedish players.

Yep, zende was pretty well known, he even played for that CPHW mix that never really worked but was interesting, with Twist, Jkaem, Rubino, and zENDe. I also recall a swedish kid named malle standing in for them, was a random awper, but rekt my bet on an overpass and train game. Weird how none of those players ever became relevant, they became tier 2 out of nowhere then left forever

That's the NA effect it seems. NA Team makes it to a couple international events > proceed to do bad > start to fall off > disappear or shuffles with other T2 teams just to maybe hope for another contender. But in the process, a ton of players just leave to never be seen again. For instance, prof chaos straight up disappeared from the internet and deleted his Twitter account

I wouldn't call aizy "forgotten" just yet and perhaps for a couple of years. People still remember him from Faze and his career is pretty indicative of North's time, which may not have been as great as they aimed for, but was notable for sure.
2021-11-30 02:12
ace is going by aceu nowadays and is/was one of the best in APEX players (probably still is top 3 if he came back to competitive). Now he is streaming APEX sometimes and is a huge streamer :P

I knew he had changed games a couple of times (I believe he went to Overwatch before Apex? Not sure). Really talented guy though, and the most slept on from old eUnited

SEMPHIS thrastalk on LAN was S tier man. Hehe. Really miss that guy! Fun fact: Before he was a CS pro, he was the first one who predicted that Edward (Na`Vi 1.6er) would be a world beater in 1.6. Basically he was an Edward fanboy :))

What year did he predict that?
2021-11-30 08:22

He did it back in 2007/2008 when Edward was already very known in CIS scene but had not made it to the upper echelons of professional CS Source: Thorin video on YT "Who is Edward?"

They are not forgotten lmao, just washed/retired, even s1mple and zywoo will end up like them someday. Nex, pyth, WorldEdit were considered good and attended majors like 3 years ago, and now people barely remember their nicknames, a year or two more and they would feel like some ancient times players like LeX or walle/
