''The most notable omission from the tournament is Natus Vincere, as the CIS squad has seemingly decided to prioritize the $425,000 BLAST Premier Fall Final and the $1,000,000 BLAST Premier World Final over the $250,000 IEM that happens in between the two. Worth noting is that the current No. 1 team is the only one that has already locked in their spots at both BLAST events, putting them in a unique situation.''

if they said they won't win it cuz they don't have enough break it means they won't win it if they play it

No, it means that there Is a high chance they might choke a crucial match which will lead to mental/psychological issues. This may bring the end to the beginning of the Navi era. (Think about how liquid lost to astralis multiple times and then tanked downwards from then)

It's not really about that. These are 3 events in a row with only a few days in between, it's not really easy to play. They'll just chill and watch teams playing, and then come fresh and prepared for world final

They can also get prepared by watching other teams play like G2, Astralis, Faze or in general the ones that are not meant to change their roster soon. Additionally, the needed a break after reaching almost all of their targets through 2021.

They also probably just dont care about the 250k prize pool and decided to take a little break cause winning gets exhausting too :)
2021-12-03 10:38
Furia and Entropiq also skip? Otherwise why would they not be invited based on ESL World Rankings as they rank higher than BIG and OG?

I think the other teams were chosen based off old rankings

furia lost to godsent in finals

True, yet VP, OG and BIG didn't even take part in any closed qualifiers nor are partner teams and still were invited based on ESL World Rankings in which OG and BIG were behind Furia and Entropiq. The only possible explanation is that the invites were sent based on old rankings (before the major maybe) like the above guy mentioned.

Navi org usually lets them skip a couple events every year.

In the contract between esl and navi (and all the teams that have it) they are able to skip 2 esl/iem events per year, so navi skipped iem summer and are skipping iem winter, other teams just want to play everything i guess

Yes it is interesting For example I did not know before that the teams get their portion of money based on viewership of their matches also, ez money for navi - they have the most watched games right?

I think yes, Navi is the most popular org in cs. As we know cis community is quite obsessed with Navi as a whole, but when s1 joined; the numbers have skyrocketed. Also over past 5 years, he has so many fans all over the globe, so ppl just want to see him play.

Tbh I would like to see teams skipping some tournaments, thats just not really possible with TO's rules and HLTV/ESL Rankings. Better both for top and lower tier teams, for ones its a way to prevent burnout, for others - more chances to show themselves

2021-12-01 06:55
They even skipped IEM Summer. Ig all top teams should Follow Navi's steps to skip few events which are not so prestigious just to concentrate mainly on the Bigger events of the year and unleash most of their Strats in those events. But sadly teams like VP, Gambit and Heroic are not so accomplished org that they get invite to those events as they are not partners, so they have to grind throught all events for rankings and then get exhausted when the main events come.

Its actually 300 IQ move from navi They can see others tactics and they dont show their own strats before blast finals

its not wise to skip this tournament in contrast to being as successful as possible to overtake Astralis’s dominance,Na vi should attend everything while they have the power to do it,nothing lasts forever,S1mple should have added another MVP to his collection

2021-12-01 12:39
you gotta leave out the scraps for the rest of the scene.
2021-12-01 12:40
i mean they always used to skip smaller esl events such as iem summer/winter (previously called chicago, sydney). Made more sense in the past when we had big events nearly every 2 weeks and not so much in 2021
