device is like ROBERT Lewandowski, very consistent player.
2021-12-04 08:09
What does that have to do with consistency. He was legit the most consistent player for 5 years in a row lol Doesn't matter if he's out of top 10 until the end of his career. The guy has 19 maps, multiple top 5 & won 4 majors. If that's not consistency over 3 years. I don't know what to tell you.
2021-12-04 05:24
He will reach top 20 probably. Hard to achieve higher in nip where he is actually one consistent player. Idk what they think by getting es3tag. Same shit like lnz but older
2021-12-04 12:16
He will reach around 11-14th but still having top 20 for the 7th time in a row is pretty impressive if he isnt consistent then who is? Only s1mple and zywoo?
2021-12-04 12:36
he can start performing worse than anyone now in pro scene, still he is the most consistent player ever. Do you know what it means? He is around and performing tier 1 scene for too long. Hope you are baiting.

age does not make them suck, life does. Kenny was probably playing 15 hours a day when -he was younger but life starts kicking in. Glaive has a kid, no chance he can play 10-15 hours a day, I would say min 8-10 hours a day to keep your muscle reflex up.

who knows, but even devvice is starting to miss more and more easy shots than he would 2 years ago, its funny to think after playing 15k hours how a guy that is so good starts to get bad all of the blue. If they knew they would solve that and not get washed before 30yo
2021-12-02 23:09

It’s the same in any sport. People get into bad practice habits and habits of bad decision making and mentality which can then affect your play. Say for example you play 15k hours all completely drunk you probably gonna be pretty trash. Compare that to 15k hours of complete focus, reviewing demos, reviewing and correcting faults, thinking of creative new ways to solve problems and having a solid aim practice. People can go in and out of form

Have you ever tried playing counter strike 8 hours a day? At first it's fun, and improved quickly. After about 2 months my interest starts to slip, and I perform worse. A few weeks after that I am getting resentful and tilted, how come I am not playing like before?? By 3 months I was totally burned out and not excited to get on the pc anymore. I cannot imagine how players keep up their skill level for years, change with the meta, etc. It is mentally grueling.
2021-12-02 23:57
3 replies
I'd do it for 8 hours a day for a paycheck. Today's orgs pay you beyond well, you travel, your meals are often covered, you have support staff, psychologist to help you with competitive spirit, drive etc... kennyS shows a lack of routine, lack of self initiated drive, and lack confidence and lack of professionalism. If he had a routine his carrier would be a bit more flat, but what he had is high peaks and low lows. I think his peaks were initiated with overly egoistic nature of his team mates in teams that worked previously, you can say French scene lacked a lot, but it never lacked ego. For someone who had such high peaks, his confidence is dead low for some unknown reason, is it depression, sure, awp nerfs hit him hard but how is it so down the drain? Lastly, lack of professionalism, his team mates count on him to be up to the task and for the last 6 months in G2 and a few times previously he was just leeching and collecting paychecks. He looked more lost than a newbie thrown in a pro match, always out of position, always early/late for a strat, trying to flick shots that even GN level snipers would pre-aim and ofc missing cause flicks are inconsistent. He looked bored. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I wouldn't like such person in my team or in my workplace. Maybe it's just because he sucks in a system and these days you can't play without it. Maybe that takes the fun away from the game for him. But then again I'd like to ask the question, if CS played today is the best CS we have seen so far, maybe his good periods are not all that much worth it? He was good at that time when CS was scrappy and messy. Which leads me to conclude that lack of confidence may be that, he knows he ain't that good, he knows he cannot be that consistent and compete at this high of a level where everyone is up to the task. Whether he does not respect his team mates or opponents, it has to be one of them, otherwise he has to be delusional to think he deserves a place in T1 team.
2021-12-03 00:22
2 replies
Nice reflexion. Kennys said himself that he was relying too much on his talent, didn't practice much and had too much ego back then. He never faced any struggles since G2 and he didn't know how to cope.
2021-12-03 01:56

There is also a statistical part that many good players do very good at start, but flop once other teams counter strat them with heatmaps and whatnot. It's there we filter good from the best, like Gambit for example, they do same simple strats, everyone knows that, for example, at 30 seconds before the end of round Hobbit will peek short while Nafany pushes long, everyone has a perfect setup to counter that, Hobbit still gets double entry and round is done after bit of cleanup. Ego can help people accomplish a lot, but needs to be combined with some level of routine. Also "he had too much ego back then" seems to still apply as he said it him self that he does not want to grind trough T2 teams to get back up.... sounds like a pure unadulterated ego to me. No tier 1 team would want him ever, doubt even tier 2 because they are working even harder than tier 1 to grind it up.

2021-12-03 00:48
I honestly think it's because the game changes. When you develop your skillset in your 'prime' and afterwards there are some changes here and there in the game, it disturbs and makes your skillset less effective so it's up to player's ability to adapt to 'meta'. I think this applies well to dev1ce as he developed his skillset playing with structured team and when you take that structure away, his skillset can't adapt to new play style. With kenny it's pretty simple - he was in his 'prime' when that electric and aggressive awp playstyle was at it's peak and that's what his skillset revolved around. If he had added rifle to his skillset earlier in his career we still would see him in T1 scene today. But that's just how I feel.

Or maybe they dont know what else to do outside cs? Atleast they're doing the work and making things happen in a team with 2 youngsters & a fellow veteran. As for kennyS, he lost motivation to grind or work hard way back in 2017, he himself said so. At least he put aside part of his ego while giving an actually straightforward interview about himself.

2021-12-03 01:28
i see something in the esports scene, where players can't event get to their 29 playing in tier 1 with a decent rating, if you look at other sports, 29-31 players are at their peak: Salah, Hamilton 2015, Curry 17/18 and more. I can't understand why, you don't have too many injuries in Esports scene. Probably it's because of the meta, it's always changing. The best player in CS:GO is the adaptable player, who can play good with Rifles, AWP, Pistols, SMGs, and that player is s1mple, when he be 33, you'll still see him at top level. Now talking about kennys, lad was a beast when he was 20 (2015).

reaction time decreases a lot, among with other reflexes. no other sport demand so much peak performance of your brain. cognitive speed drops steadily after 24 years old.
2021-12-03 01:50

If this is true, I doubt car racers would've succeeded in their 30s. For example, Lewis Hamilton peaked in his F1 career in mid 30s. Ken Miles at around age of 45 was a part of the Ford-Shelby team which won the 24 hour Le Mans endurance race in 1966. Yes, racing doesn't require too much to think, but even it requires a bit of planning, like when to overtake, which racing line to go for when there are other racers nearby, when to pit, etc. Doing all of these while driving at speeds of more than 200 kph while changing gears now & then does require immense focus. Even if these become a part of muscle memory after tons of practice in sim & IRL, a tiny error will become a matter of life or death. Probably the ever changing meta could be a reason. As others have said, its a matter of adapting and working hard every time to be at the top or to stay relevant.
2021-12-04 05:10

racing is much more psychological than dependent on reaction-time. apart from machinnery, what separates drivers like verstappen, hamilton, norris, russell, etc from others is mainly and above all the confidence to brake late and perform their apexing on the limits of oversteer and understeer. that takes huge balls, a lot of training to memorize by heart the braking points, where to hit the apexes, where to brake earlier and have better exit, or brake later and carry morre speed through the apex, plus working with engineers and being humble to listen when they convey data-based information on where to extract more time. also, it takes a lot of experience since the early teens to handle the pressure. and that is just today's "meta" of high performance driving. back in the 90's, only a few racers where skilled enough to have a gentle touch on the gas and brakes. nowadays, if you don't master that, you're gonna basically suck at rainy races. also, back in the pre-hybrid era of f1, confidence in throttling used to be much harder, since now a lot of turns can be done with full throttle, but that was far from the case back then. perhaps the best examples are turkey's 4 apex corner, copse-maggots-becketts-chapel in silverstone, eau rouge-radillon and suzuka's 130r. today, all of them can be done in full throttle thanks to a much improved aero and chassis filled with huge floors and bargeboards and bigger front wings.

You're right, I'll take back my words regarding importance of reaction time in racing. Learnt something new today on racing, ty. Regarding meta, I referred to that of cs, but what you've mentioned about racing meta is actually true. Racing fast is now easier & safer thanks to innovations in design & engine, safety regulations & gear. As you've said, psychology matters a lot in racing.
2021-12-04 08:07
