The most disappointing teams of the year
GuardiaN |
Finland OLENMAX
For me there se two teams that have just kept disappointing through out the year 2021: 1. OG for sure OG haven't achieved anything this year (nor the year before) and missing out the major just highlights how poorly they have performed. OG's games are pain to watch because they can't win a single series comfortably. They are just constantly struggling and trying to survive. Now it seems that they have just lost all their confidence and to me it seems that they have become in the end the of the road with their core and I would disband the whole team. At least the Danish guys need to go with Aleksib. Niko has been as bad as NBK if not even worse. Valde has been too inconsistent as a star player and goes often missing in the important series. Ruggah...well I sometimes forget that he is even their coach. I still believe that both Aleksi and Valde has a lot to give in tier 1 level but they both just need fresh air. I would have liked to see Aleksi build a Finnish superteam to Havu but if he will end up going to G2 maybe he could take Mantuu with him. I have nothing against Monesy but I don't believe he fits well with the Bosnian star players. Mantuu is more versatile and does not need as much space. OG will keep Flamez and maybe Mantuu. Their new lineup will be: - Flamez (entry) - Mantuu/Poizon (AWP) - AZR (IGL) - Jks (lurker) - Amanek (if he comes available)/Styko (even though he does not want to do this role anymore) Coach: Devilwalk Or then the will make the worst decision and pick up MSL to IGL and keep the Danish boys. 2. MOUZ Same goes for MOUZ. Their playbook has not evolved at all during the year and their success rest in Ropz's and Frozen's shoulders. + Their new logo is horrible. Ropz will leave for sure, so Mouz will build around Frozen and maybe Bymas. The new lineup is: - Frozen - Maden/Lollipop - Bymas - Nexa (if G2 will let him go)/Golden - Torszi Thoughts? Which team has been the biggest disappointment for you? Sorry not sorry for kind a long txt.

ikr , its grim indeed
2021-12-05 00:43
well, its the fault of the german scene. Instead of getting new young talents, BIG wants experience (thats why they got gade and not some up and coming talent from their academy roster or the t3 scene). They did this for years tbh, and its coming back to bite them now. They essentially killed the german scene with this tactic, and the big roster is getting old now, i dont think they will ever put up a full german roster in the future again.

thats true they never pick up upcoming talents and now everyone is old af edit: except maybe k1to but he is not doing that well rn

yep, thats german culture, they doing it like they designed the old mercedes or even volvos back than, built like a tank, not very agile ... not taking any risks, planing everything trough, like the typical BIG playstyle ...

Vitality, if someone told you at the end of 2020 that they wouldn't win any event in 2021 and ZywOo would get 0 MVP no one would have believed it. OG I agree dogshit team for 2 years now, Aleksib's reputation is taking a hit maybe allu was right. MOUZ not disappointing, nobody expected anything from them this year with their roster, they did well to win an event.

2021-12-04 22:58

10 places in the ranking is still a big difference, and they are not Blast partners so already they miss out on 4-5 events during the year

And their Academy team is not partners to any1....main squad at least get chances to play against better teams which helps to maintain good ranking. But w/e. Kind of agree with Vitality.

I disagree, I think one thing OG should try is to go full danish. I was already against the idea of Vitality getting the Astralis trio, because I think either an international team or a danish team should. Here OG have a perfect opportunity to rebuild around a strong core (which would’ve been counter intuitive on Vitality). Send ruggah to Complexity, zonic is much better anyway, have dupreeh and magisk play with niko and valde, and get farlig to awp. Valde or magisk can figure out who will igl for them. Valde Dupreeh Magisk Niko Farlig Zonic Imo this team can easily break into top 10 Bonus: instead Vitality should try and get maleK and amanek if they are so dead set on changing their roster, even though they aren’t performing horrible as of right now.

And i think Mouz should try the Gambit method where they promote their academy team to their main team, but keep the main team players benched (instead of releasing them) in case one or two players from the academy team isnt cut out for t1 cs yet they can always go get someone off the bench
2021-12-04 21:32
The team would be good no doubt, solid top 10 if not better. But i am sure that the Astralis trio won't be cheap and OG is not known for splashing money for their CS team. Therefore, I don't think this scenario is possible.

Unless you’re talking salary, this scenario is definitely possible. The reason why the Astralis trio will be available soon is because their contracts are expiring. Maybe another team will outbid them but OG definitely have a chance. Plus with backing from Redbull and the fact that the team is still getting its footing on the CS scene now would be a great time to splash some cash on contracts for proven greats.
2021-12-05 13:28
1 reply
I am well aware that their contracts are expiring but i expect them to request high salaries and a team that is rather a title contender than a "solid top 10 team". And I guess Farlig is still contracted. Very unlikely to happen. Vitality deal seem to be done even though its not official yet.

Yeah, but not every team can win. Staying around the top 10 and being competitive through out the year can be seen at least as a consistent performance. Of course teams have different goals and expectations. But thats why VP, BIG or even G2 so disappointing as some other teams.

Easy winner here: FaZe This roster could not have choked more. The only consistent thing about them is their inconsistency. Self proclaimed LAN team but can't even make playoffs at the major. 2 years ago if you told me karrigan is coming back to FaZe and they're getting twistzz, but not only that, they also have a sick up and coming awper who can also hybrid with rifles, I might've shat my pants from hype. This team should've been top 3 this year easily, but their refusal to make necessary roster changes and their blatant lack of effort in online matches DURING THE ONLINE ERA has caused them to fall flat

I think literally every team accept for NaVi, Gambit, Heroic had a dissapointing year. (VP not a bad year) G2 - Originally with KennyS this was supposed to be a superteam which would finally win trophies (though year was still good) NiP - Signing Dev1ce and whilst they won IEM Fall considering their expectations was a dissapointment when signing "Ronaldo" Liquid - Nothing to be said really, had some ok runs but couldn't decide on who was IGL. FaZe - Supposed to be superteam with Twistzz addition, whilst they got better and showed some promise they could never find the success they were looking for. Fnatic - the old swedish core disbanded, nothing to be said. Vitality - Considering this team was winning trophies every year with ZywOo gathering many MVP's its now dissapointing they never won anything this year, though EPL 14 was close. Astralis - Best team of all time no longer together, maybe if Dev1ce stayed it would've worked out come LAN. Furia - Signing promising NA talent just for him to shit the bed, and still can't find a good AWPer. OG - Overhyped in general but except for IEM Winter this team never got anywear near to the success they expected when this team was built. BIG - After Syrson being 10th last year in top 20 he now wont even be in it at all, lost firepower for better comms but it made them even worse. MOUZ - Shitty logo redesign dissapointing enough, but their results even worse (except FP3) considering they got a top 10 player Ropz. C9 - WTF even was this. Never even bootcamped and disbanded so soon. 00Nation - KngV "At the end of 2021 our goal is to be #1 in the world' KEKW
