Is that not a side hustle? Do you think your meant to design a spaceship and sell it to russia for a side hustle?
2022-01-02 23:21
2 replies
no that's not a side hustle, it's just called being retarded and thinking that the time you spent will help you in the future. You're degrading your self-worth, find a side hustle that pays well and can actually benefit you. I, for example, work as a computer science tutor as a side hustle. This helps me build a wider connection and is actually something I can put on my resume, not like "mowed lawns for the local neighborhood."

Ok but in hungary, people live in shitty buildings created during the ussr. Also, Hungarian wages are scuffed. It’s funny cause I work around 15 hours a week at a coffee shop and I make more than the average hungarian worker who works 40+ hours. I’m going to go on a rant here, but one of the major causes of the issues found in hungary are due to political issues. The country spends way too much of its budget on shit that doesn’t matter. Also most of that budget comes from unbelievably high taxes that put lower income households at a disposition. As for the government, it has become a select group of people who control the country, and they aren’t really doing the best at it. They push mostly their own agenda which further makes the country harder to live in. Best bet is to move outside of the country. Im proud to be hungarian, but I don’t want to associate with whats going over there. Sorry for the rant…

All the wrong kind of stuff. The ruling party fidesz is trying to stay in power by telling lies to the old/poor people, they are generating hate against all kinds of people, so now the country is more divided than ever before. Not to talk about the corruption which is not an unusual thing here in lovely hungary, but even the socialists did not steal this much amount of tax money than our lovely 'right wing warrior' orban. (Orban is one of the biggest communist this country has ever seen, he just wants to be seen like a christian right winger). Also we had Pegasus stuff (they used it to spy after journalists, and left wing politicians, civilians) lately, one of the next in command for the justice minister just got cought with corruption, yet she (the justice minister) is still in charge, even she delegated a lot of stuff to the man who got caught, and stuff like this. In a normal country this whole party would be in the jail, but at least we should not worry about them winning the next election with a 2/3. (They did it with cheating last time, they will cheat this time aswell)

Teach me the ways on I’m 60k a year looool
2021-12-29 12:36
To break it down, it's $175000 in Aud per year. $16,000 goes to superannuation (compuslory retirement savings). $16,000 goes to student debt (should be just about paid off in next month or two). $47,000 goes to tax. Which leaves about $96,000 after tax. Of that $6000 goes to medical insurance (at my income you have to have it or you pay 2% more tax, and I have an expensive plan because I have a family). About $30,000 goes to minimum mortgage payments and taxes + insurance on my house. Plus extra for any maintenance/fixes. Another $4000 for taxes and insurance on two cars, plus extra for servicing or other maintenance and fixes that come up. Utilities is like 4-5k a year. Petrol is like 5k a year. Don't even get me started on groceries, way too much, maybe like 12-15k a year. Then there is buying furniture and things for house, entertainment costs, etc. Then any savings is so I can pay off more of my mortgage. TLDR adult life is expensive and hard to get by even on high income.

A rule of thumb here is that one a week you work to pay for your car, at first look it seems not to be true for you but then again I assume the cars did not get to be yours by magic. Are you gonna have a party once you're done with your student debt? I did, then the month after I bought my apartment and acquired a morgage in the process. It made my student debt feel like it was almost funny in comparison.

Why would you pay off Danish student loans to take a mortgage? The rate is higher with your mortgage
2021-12-30 10:42
2 replies
The student loans I paid of was like €4.000 or so in total and I actually had not planned to buy an apartment just then, it just happened that way. Anyway the mortgage was about €150.000 so just the payments on that was something else entirely.
2021-12-30 12:17
In Australia there is no interest on student loan, just inflation adjustment. So no reason to pay it off early. But the repayment rates are very harsh as your income goes up, you can get a pay rise and you end up giving like 70% of it to student loan because you have moved into a new bracket for the loan repayments. But at least it goes quicker like that.
2021-12-30 14:02
bro u the goat
2021-12-29 12:42
I am always wondering why are Australians paying for medical insurance, when you have a very good public health care system? Is it extra to skip lines and go to private hospitals for treatment or does the ambulances just bring you to any hospital public or private and then it’s just too bad if you don’t have the extra coverage?
2021-12-30 10:45
2 replies
Well after a certain income ($90k Aud) you have to pay 1.5% extra income tax if you don't have it. So that's the reason many get it. Also after your 30yo, if you don't have it then it becomes more expensive each year if you get insurance later in life. In an emergency you will highly likely end up at a public hospital, but with private health insurance you can stay in a private room there (only you in the room) or you can transfer to a private hospital later. Also for elective surgeries, things that aren't an emergency basically, the wait for public hospital can be long eg 6 months, whereas with private it can be done right away and in a private hospital. Also the main reason we have a high end plan was for our baby so she could be born in a private hospital, which meant I could stay at the hospital too (don't think father can in public) and also you get more days in the hospital. But really without the financial incentives I'm not sure I'd have it, it's a lot of money when the public hospital system is fine.

it's not really "cheap" as most people think. in case of germany, you have to live somewhere near the boarder, where things are more expensive naturally than in other parts of germany, because of swiss people and higher population. working in switzerland you have to pay two sorts of taxes, but germany is the bigger part, which amounts to basically renting ~1 additional decent flat (~70m²). the cheapest would actually be to live near the boarder, but on swiss side, then buying groceries/etc in germany/france, while having only 1 small sort of taxes

to add: it's also cheaper living on swiss side boarder and buying in germany/france, because you can get out the "value added tax" from things you buy since switzerland doesnt have it AFAIK

Even though I'm only 23 I have good experience with most systems and I am very adaptable. I trained in a smaller system management company, working different sized companies from all possible sectors. We did everything from planning and executing projects to 1st/2nd/3rd-level support. Now I switched to a big company as an internal admin. Different field, bigger company, more responsibility, better salary and better chances to rank up in the company. Most of my work tends to be in our internal infrastructure, so everything around client management, AD/GPO/Permissions, mail servers, managing our redundant data centers (hardware), virtualization, backups, scripting, etc. If you're serious, feel free to PM me and tell me a bit about your company.

Becuase of my work I get to know alot of people. Personally I know 2 guys from IT who earn more money than I do. About " I know people who earn 10x-20x more monthly." There are people who earn more than Lewandowski, here in Poland. Do You realize it? I have at least 4 clients like that and They're not even close to richest people in Poland. edit: if You really think that some football guy from Polish league is "rich" then You will be shocked when You will start Your first job in some corporation and one day You'll meet the guy from the top of the food chain. Where did you get the idea that I want to send you anything, or that I want to do anything with you ? If that's true and you are the chosen one, that's great, I am happy for you. But usually under threads like this we have people who work and say their real salaries (you can easily tell that), people who are still in school (avg age on HLTV is like 16 probably or something), and people who are just full of shit, and type some stuff like you did without any explanation what they do, just their out of this world salary. Similar thing with "what car do you own?" threads. It can be obviously true, but like that guy in #308 said, people who earn that much are in the huge minority in Poland. Not to mention your 20x that, friends. I heard about a lot of salaries, mostly friend of a friend etc. and getting salary of a fucking 15k euro a month in Poland, even in Warsaw is something you can get as let's say some IT specialist, after decades of working and experience. 15 k złoty sure, it's possible, not even that much. But euro ? Give me a break...

First of all, I am on HLTV longer than avg. HLTV user is alive. Second, many old users know me from late 1.6 times or early CSGO times when I was posting alot of photos from backstage of Majors or I was leaking stuff from Polish pro scene. Shortly, as my second job I work in CSGO e-sports for almost 12 years. Because of HLTV I've met alot of people from different parts of the world(on various tournaments) and it gave me an idea for a business. In #80 I said "many sources of income" because its true. i never said that I am not part of small community in Poland that earn alot of money. #308 said "the only one", so I told him the truth, I know people who earn milions monthly in Poland. It doesn't mean I am friends with all of them (one or two, sure, we're friends). The point is, I am 31yo and I've met hundreds of people because of HLTV IRL and hundreds of people because of at least 7 jobs I had since I am an "adult". My business makes me beeing around rich people. I really hope that You will get somewhere in Your life and You will make as much money as You want and I hope You will be more experienced at pro scene because people with half of a brain wouldn't bet against CPH Flames on Major.

I work as a school teacher with 7 years seniority. Wage has increased about 10% during those 7 years. Looking at my pay check for november (it´s about the same every month): 37842 dkr before tax = 5000 Euros / 5700 USD 13575 dkr tax 24267 dkr into my bank account = 3250 Euros / month = 3700 USD Add to that everyone has paid sickness leave, 6 weeks paid vacation and an amount added to my pension every month. (and 1 year paid maternity leave split between parents) It´s about an average wage for a full time worker in Denmark. Wages, vacation time and most benefits are negotiated centrally between employers and unions. Wages for adults start at about 20 USD/hour (15 after tax).

There is a saying in Denmark, that Teacher, Policeman or Nurse are the "average jobs" that all other jobs are measured against. But those are also 3 jobs in dire need of more people. Because, as you are saying, people run from those jobs. You will get better pay in the private sector. I forgot to add, that 400 Euros (after tax) are deducted from my pay and put to voluntary extra pension every month. With those money, I would get 3650 onto my account each month. As a teacher, there are also a number of extra duties on the school that you can volunteer for, and get paid extra. Like "being responsible for keeping order and ordering new equipment" for the Gym, Music or Science rooms etc. I avoid those. I live alone without kids, so extra savings seems like a sensible thing to do. I still have money to spare every month.

Why? Salaries are different around the world but things too, so as long as you have a bit above the average of your country and you like your job, you should be happy about it.

That's the thing, I don't. It's a good job. So far I have had a decent 10% increase in salary every year. But still it's on lower end of salary spectrum.

If you have an increase of 10% per year means you're doing it good. So it's about time you'll get there on your company or in the next one you'll move. If you work hard you're not going to turn millionaire, but you'll get a decent salary to live.

One day you'll realize you don't need an iphone (Top xiaomi or oneplus are like 200€cheaper in india being great phones) in order to live a good life. Btw, maybe you can buy an iphone sooner if you get €1000 in India and the food cost you 50€ and flat 100€ than living in Amsterdam getting paid €2000 while paying half for the flat and the other half for food.

Technology for industry is super expensive if you need to source it. Local products have inferior quality because of this. The general rule of thumb is that people that can afford quality products/services tend to have extended life expectancies. Basic needs like food and shelter are prone to local conjunction, the machines making those needs are not.
2021-12-30 14:32
the problem with all those fancy "cheap" androids that are almost as expensive as iPhone nowadays is that they have tons of untested functions, therefore many bugs. They die out in a few years and u wont even be able to sell them. Meanwhile any Apple product can be sold for almost the same price even after years of usage. Any high-end OnePlus/Xiaomi cost pretty much the same but always have more bugs and issues.

2022-01-01 23:25
1 reply
The stack is relatively irrelevant tbh (although the stacks centered around JS/Python seem to be popular). As long as your working in backend or fullstack the salary will be high, frontend a bit lower. There are some languages and stacks that pay a bit less, but not by much. You need to keep cost of living in mind too. I don't think Lithuania is nearly as expensive as the Bay Area or something. 200k is literally lower-middle class in some parts of California.
2022-01-02 08:01

Yeah, but it's hard to get junior positions in the US. You actually need to know what you're doing, nobody's taking on a trainee these days. The salaries are way too high for it to be a training on the job type position. And also read #310 for some really crazy salaries.

Im a student so i dont have job. I used to live for my saved money, which were originally planned to be used to buy an apartment. But this year in march i started to trade crypto. My only and initial investment was around $1200. I think i was holding shiba and eth for like few weeks, and then later on i discovered shitcoining and made a decent amount. Right now im basically living of my crypto gains. God bless defi and the money i made from it. (I 150x'ed my networth)
2021-12-30 21:40

whats your shitcoining strategy ?
2021-12-30 21:42
1 reply
The strategy was, to get in early and get into presales (a lot of them). I think in the beginning my most profitable presale was from 1bnb (it was around $300-400 back then) to like $7000. But shitcoining kinda died or became less profitable after May. So right now im just trying to get in early everywhere and trading bigger coins. (ftm, sushi, tomb, avax and etc.) I also aped into Wonderland (ohm fork) which is basically passive income. You get like 9,6% every 5days. So yeah, right now everyday im getting atleast $1000-1500 every day in those tokens (which i can sell or let them compound more)

Netflix has different pricing per country, because otherwise people from poor countries would not be able to afford it. But if you live in a rich country, you can use a VPN to order Netflix from one of those countries that has cheaper plans. Turkey is interesting now because of the low value of the Lira. You can find entire tables online that compares the local prices per country for Netflix, Spotify etc.

Yeah but there is a hidden tax called "arbetsgivareavgift" Which is like 17 %, so my employer pays Gross * 1.17 Maybe 5500 Then there is INSANE taxes on everything else like gas etc everything you buy

whats a "sales engineer"?
2022-01-10 16:45
3 replies
A normal salesman with only business knowledge can't actually sell stuff for Tech Companies in some cases. Technology has gotten advanced and you need deep knowledge about it to sell it Then you need an engineer , who actually knows the stuff on a deep level to sell it. I worked as an engineer in survilleance, security cameras. Now I work with selling cameras and software to other companies. If you are engineer and not a nerd, but someone who can sell and is Chad as well, this is a very natural route to take. I earn much more and enjoy this more than working with tech

i pay like 9k in taxes...but in the end of the year i always get one extra salary as bonus, which i use for taxes. 5.5 k including bonus is good. here in Switzerland technicians and handymen earn a lot..not many want to do the job so theres a big demand. the son of my mothers boyfriend works as a floor layer an he earns almost as much as i do and hes 19 y.o.

An idea for making this thread actually mean something as comparing take away salary in different countries with different cost of living and tax system is irrelevant. How many Big Macs could you buy in your country with your take away salary? I wrote my salary in a thread before roughly 18K USD. I could buy 1781 Big Macs.

got very lucky but my job has 0 benefits like health care or anything, I pretty much only get my salary and if I get hurt or have a car I pay for everything myself at insane prices. I also work at a clinic helping people get COVID tests so I could get sick at any point. It pays really well and I feel very lucky but it's not perfect.

9.65 usd an hour (constant shift hours) 15 usd an hour (only get hours if there's work to do) there's not really an average payment per month, it's always different, sometimes very high, sometimes very low.
