Vegan burgers
 |
Poland DefeN
Today I tried a vegan burger for the first time, and I didn't expect it can be that good, maybe even better than normal burgers. What about you mens, have you ever tried a vegan burger? And did you like it?
2022-01-13 16:28
Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
Does it count that if I try you, I also tried the burger as you ate one?

There are really bad vegan burgers but also really good ones. Problem is that the good ones are often quite a bit more expensive than normal meat so I usually just get normal burgers since I don’t eat them that often

never tried it and am very skeptical of them but if they are actually as good i should probably try at some point. does it cost about the same or less / more? then again, define "normal" burger. i don't consider fast food chain burgers to be normal burgers to begin with.

fast food burgers are probably somewhat fake too. five guys burgers' though
2022-01-13 17:10
Some vegan "meat" products are really good. They aren't really similar to meat, but they still taste good. I have some friends that are vegan, and so obviously when I spend time with them I end up at the mercy of what they cook. I've probably only had one bad meal in all the times they cooked for me.

im kinda picky when it comes to food, especially if im paying. i wouldn't complain if i eat at a friend's place and it's not perfect or w.e, but i'd have to be really desperate to end up eating at a fast food chain. if im going to a restaurant i'd rather pay a tad more knowing im gonna have a good time. that's why those vegan burgers better be delicious, because being just decent won't cut it for me. guess i won't know until i try :P
2022-01-13 21:12

I'm very picky, so when I say I was surprised by a few of them that should tell you something. They are definitely not all made equal, and I have no idea which brands my friends used. I've had some at home that my girlfriend bought (just for alternative meal options) that I wasn't big on. So it can be hit or miss. But there are good brands out there. Oddly one the best tacos I ever had was a vegan taco using chickpeas with some kind of special hot sauce. I was incredibly skeptical until I ate it. Food can be weird like that.

no, i see no reason to eat vegan burger with fake meat when i can literally get the next best thing which is just regular burger with regular meat
2022-01-13 16:36
Theyve been working on that for years, I'd be surprised if they dont eventually get something together that tastes good
2022-01-13 16:36
Vegan patties can be really delicious if chosen right. In Finland Hälsans Kök does the best patties. They are almost as good as the real deal. They cost a bit but it's worth it, if you want to stay vegan. Hälsans kök is not available in every grocery store however. But that's the point, vegan food can be really tasty and ethically inclined at the same time.

2022-01-13 22:24
Tried making one myself once, was really good but waaaay too time consuming
2022-01-13 16:39
Vegan burgers can be very good if it's made with good ingredients like butternut squash patty for example or chickpea patty but not beyond meat fake meat bs (disgusting) If I want fake meat will eat meat, why suffer
2022-01-13 16:52
2 replies
There is no suffer. Some people just want to try to go vegan, but not too many people are capable of cutting out meat just like that after being meat-eaters for years. There are meat "substitutes" for them to make transition easier. Personally I never needed anything of it. One day I just stopped eating meat and never had "withdrawals". But I agree: if you stil feel a "need" to eat meat, don't need to force yourself.

I sometimes eat at Vegan places as its very nice and good food for my stomach, just relaxing vegetable soup without absurd amount of milk (milk bad for acne, skin), some nice pasta and nice smoothie or some mango yoghurt to drink (no cow milk too). But when I eat meat I go to specialized meat places which for me is Caucasian cuisine (family connections) or meditarenian cuisine as well My doctor said that I cannot stop eating meat/fish as it will be worse for me, will have issues
2022-01-13 18:51
yeah i dont like it at all. i dont eat meat, but its not a taste thing and the real thing is wayyyy better imo.

I really like them and dont understand people that are angry when someone says that they taste good. These products arent here so that people replace meat with them, rather they want to be something additional.
2022-01-13 16:57
been trying to eat less meat recently so I've tried a few, most of them were okay, the store bought ones you have to mix with water yourself were pretty bad
2022-01-13 17:00
I am all for there being choice, just as long as it is not about it pretending to be meat. I like my food to be honest of what it is, so no artificial flavors and no artificial beef.

A Muslim friend of mine had Vegan Bratwurst Sausage at a festival once because he doesn’t eat the regular pork ones, I tasted a piece and it was surprisingly good, far better than I expected
2022-01-13 17:13
I have no doubt they can be nice, but nicer than a normal burger. Your either eating a poor burger or your on drugs, the bad drugs, that make you talk crazy.

2022-01-13 17:30
Im vegan and yes they're good, there are a lot of different ways to substitute meat as well
2022-01-13 17:30
meat itself is essentially without flavour, so if they can get the consistency then getting flavour will be ez. seasoning is what gives meat flavour, and seasoning is vegan
2022-01-13 17:35
yes i eat veg burger only, its good.

most times i like veggies burgers more than normal burgers, but if u buy it prepared its expensive af. imo the only reason to be a vegetarian (apart from if u dont like the taste itself) is just for ecology, because the meat induistry waste hella tons of water.

2022-01-13 18:31
I've had one kind before. It wasn't bad, but it definitely had a weird mustiness to it. I reckon in 5-10 years they'll be even better, and lab grown meat options will start appearing. I get to eat myself to an early grave without causing climate change let's goooooo

Imagine someone dying a lamb chop green then calling it fake broccoli. . . it's completely delusional Look at the ingredients and that's you are actually eating not "fake meat" In reality, it's the market exploiting vegans that crave for animal flesh but have been brainwashed into denying their own bodily instinct

I did liked that and didn't expect that to taste that good tho.. but as long as you can fake a meat or a plant... burger is a burger depends how you see and describe it to your brain ... both tasty "cooking skills" . " everything for people but not for everyone ".
2022-01-14 05:58
Honestly, it tastes the same but IMO it is because of all the toppings and sauces you put on your burger which will be the same as on a normal burger and that is why it tastes the same I think. I think if you compare just the 2 cooked types of meat you would tell the difference I may be mistaking just a thought I had
