I go to UC Berkeley and am signing up for study abroad Fall 2022. Where should I visit as a good country?
I really like EU and respect them. I am thinking Iceland or something due to clean air and nature.
Other options are Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Czech Republic.

Honestly I think Polish people are awesome. Having been there a few times, the only difference I witnessed is that the racists in Poland actually try to engage in a fight without reason.

I personally absolutely love to go on vacation in Italy. Portugal was one of the most beautiful places I have been. Croatia is very beautiful as well as Spain. But every country I have been to has some really nice places, so maybe pick one where you like the culture. Europe is really small compared to the USA so its easy to travel abroad, wich I would recommend to see as many different places as possible. So maybe pick something central?
PS: I think the Netherlands might blow your mind because of the city designs. Its so pleasant to walk and/or cycle there even compared to other European countries, cant imagine how it would be for an American.

go to Spain please you won't regret this. If you want a country that's a bit colder, the Netherlands sounds like a great idea. Definitely avoid Czech Republic, we want you to see the WESTERN and DEVELOPED part of Europe. Belgium is probably a bit too boring, same with Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Good lucks mens sad you can't come to the UK, the best country in the world

don't go to Iceland, it's a country with a population lower than the city you live in right now... You've got the chance to explore the best continent in the world, why on earth would you want to go to Iceland which is barely European? Not that much different from Alaska, almost no population, dark and cold and far from EVERYTHING. Netherlands/Spain is my suggestion, depending on your goals

Berlin is not definitely the prettiest city (as half of the city used to be under Soviet occupation) for a really long time but it is FUN! So definitely sounds like a great idea, you'll enjoy it but definitely travel to see more of Europe, they've just built a new massive airport in Berlin so I'd assume the number of flights to and from Berlin is even bigger now. Good luck and enjoy Europe;)

If you appriciate clean air and nature over everything else then you should go any nordic country. Iceland or Norway are most likely the best for having great times outdoors. Sweden and Finland are somewhat a like but not as mountainous and filled with forests. Denmark is a little different because they dont have any mountains and the forests are way smaller compared to Sweden or Finland.
You can find very beautiful places in other countries too and if you go away from the bigger cities there are not so much air pollution and you can find peacful places as well. The Alps are insanely beautiful place. I recommend Austria if you go to Alps. Switzerland is awesome too but quite expensive. Northern Italy is stunning. You could include you northern Italy trip with your other destinations in Italy since there are a lot to see and you can combine the outdoors, stunning views and the old cities.
Europe is full of amazing places and you cant go wrong really. If you are considering Iceland I'd say go for it. The place is magical. I suggest you to rent a car there if you can.

finland if you want nature, like lakes and forests. go for a drive and its pretty much endless forests everywhere.
oh and you can probably rent a cottage for the weekend close to nature everywhere. there are over half a million cottages in finland.
its gonna be semi affordable too.
plus the parties at cottages, if you got friends who own them, they are pretty wild.

A friend of mine went to study in Ulm in southern Germany. Very international.

If you check out a map, it´s right in the center of modern Europe (not too far from Munich), so it´s a fine base for trips when you have spare time.
He eventually married an italian girl, that he met there. They live in Denmark now and have 2 kids.

I can transfer to Free University Berlin for a semester as they have a partnership with my uni, from late february to late july 2023. So 5 months about.
Do you think this would be cool? Germany is very awesome and I would like to visit and use it as a hub to travel around. Perhaps I will take german courses as well

I don't know, I just feel like there is a bit more to Germany overall. Sure we have some decent cities, but for the overall "ideal student life package" I'd prefer Germany I think.
Btw any good cities in particular for students in Germany? I want to study there next year, probably law. Can you recommend anything?

Well its bigger, thats true.
I've only studied in Frankfurt and Lübeck, I love both cities. If you like being close to the coast I'd definitely recommend Lübeck, I'm at the baltic sea in like 15 mins by train. Hamburg is close too. Southern German cities are nice if you like forests/mountains.

It’s good. Everybody here is insanely smart and hardworking. Lots of homeless around the edges, but best public university in the world along with Oxford.
Basically 40% asian, 40% white, then the rest is international / other. No one is racist or anything and everybody is helpful. Cool parties because it’s nerds throwing them so very chill. Work hard play hard culture. We go to San Francisco for parties or LA sometime. Every food from every part of the world is here!
Also girls here love guys with accents, all my foreign friends from uk, france., australia are happy.
Also cheapest education in the top 5 unis! Hope you get in :)

From what i read in your replies i think you'd love Portugal, Spain and Italy. Beautiful nature and landscapes, super welcoming and friendly people, incredible night life... I might be a bit biased since i'm portuguese, but i've visited most of europe and i've lived in Spain, Belgium and currently i'm living in the Netherlands. But honestly i'd advice you, for studying, to go to Portugal definitely

Depends where you go and what you want to do honestly, if you go to more rural or remote parts you can enjoy the nature and if you go to bigger cities like Zurich or Geneva/Lausanne (for the french speaking side, but if you come from germany I guess you'd probably stay near the german side) they have a fairly lively night life. Thankfully everything is pretty close in switzerland so you can probably easily do a bit of both if you want. Really depends on what you find fun tbh. There's only one thing certain and that's that you probably won't find it very cheap :D
