Look nobody is denying that he is an amazing player, I’ll just get that out of the way immediately, mechanically speaking he is one of the best prospects of the recent generation of CS talent.
With that being said I don’t think that Zyw0o deserves to be in the top 3 this year. Speaking for the whole year Vitality had a very limited presence, going out early in multiple big tournaments, failing to go anywhere far in playoffs / loosing out to bad teams. In all they had a very, very bad year. 5/6 of the year was spent in this, and while Zyw0o was still a standout in Vitality, that isn’t saying very much. Only near the end of the year after the Major when the entire line of Vitality knew they were done, did they start playing good. Yes they won some big tournaments at the end of the year but it doesn’t really balance out the rest of the year.
Plus you have to look at the other contenders, s1mple is an easy explanation, won almost everything this year, Major MVP, nothing more is needed to be said, he will be the #1
unless something stupid happens. NiKo while he didn’t win anything this year with G2, 2nd place at the first LAN since the pandemic in Cologne, and 2nd place at the Major (only to be stopped by NaVi and s1mple), holding ungodly stats that are statistically speaking better then s1mple (and every other tier 1 player this year) gives him a reason to be in the top 3, and if you need more G2 had a presence throughout the entire year. And as for Sh1ro, for many of the same reasons I have NiKo up high, Gambit’s domination of the first half of the year, deep run at the major, and that everything that Zyw0o can do mechanically, Sh1ro can also do if not better, as he has shown throughout the year, makes him a better candidate then Zyw0o.
That’s my opinion
