LDLC plans on signing a whole French youngsters roster that just qualified to ESEA Advanced :
-Graviti (IGL), 18 yo
-Diviiii (Sniper), 18 yo
-Neityu, Brooxsy, Electus (rifles), 16, 20 and 19 yo
Inb4 "Who?" comments, here's the presentation of the roster:
They were part of a project called "GenOne", launched by ex-VG and LDLC player KRL on CSS.
They played their first official game exactly 1 year and 1 day ago,
He picked them after a recruitment session of 2 weeks on FACEIT, with the conditions being to be under 21 yo and level 10 on FACEIT.
He challenged himself to show the French scene that by hard work and dedication, you could approach the pro level.
The project has been streamed for the past year and drained a nice community behind it, while KRL's popularity among the French scene gave its players great opportunities :
1. They've been coached by XTQZZZ, apEX, NBK-, Lambert and others.
2. They went to three French subtop LAN (won them all).
3. They could bootcamp at the V.Hive, Vitality's esport complex in Paris.
ABOUT THE ESEA SLOTS :
LDLC should leave their ESEA Premier slot to their future benched players (Maka, Hadji and Keoz + 2 players yet to be announced (most likely will be Python and Kyojin)).
LDLC will use ex-GenOne's newly acquired ESEA Advanced slot.

TLDR; LDLC kicks their main roster, picks a whole roster made of French youngsters unknown to the international scene.

Yes but it's kinda dead rn. There's maybe one or two games played per day on it.

LDLC acknowledges this project won't get them to play a major anytime soon.
The players are expected to sign 2 years contract and the idea is to be a springboard to t1 more than anything, I believe.

Yes, they are not known among HLTV. They qualified in ESEA Advanced, that's a notable achievement for a team that has/had nonamers.
That is good for the french scene as well, there are only a small amount of talents and they lack visibility, fortunately KRL managed to give them visibility and attract people.
Definitely a good move by LDLC, the contracts should be 2 year long. Long term project.
We'll see how it goes!

Vitality plans on building an academy, but I've heard it wasn't expected before 2023. :(
Sad when you know that the same KRL proposed them a roster back in 2019 or 2020, with the likes of Bymas and Nivera...

Yup, he was proposed to Vitality as an academy player but they didn’t think it was worth it.
The academy was meant to be international.

Neityu and Graviti have been tested by kennyS and AMANEK, yes.
But there's a lot of issues going on with this project, the main one being that kenny and AMANEK are still under contract with G2.
LDLC's offer couldn't be refused!

I'm pretty sad.
I don't think GenOne is that much of a promising roster, and even tho a good org and their potential can bring them pretty far, they probably won't break top50. They will be a good ac team but never a real "roster" that compete in regular tier 2-3 events etc.
And if they do, they're gonna get steamrolled like the rest of the french subtop (thedice, ambush, etc)
Of course the roster that they had last year clearly wasn't good enough, and needed fixes. But I don't really like this decision, especially because it looks like it'll be their only roster for 2022.
I kinda liked hA-Mak-Ke-Pyth-Kyo even tho I dislike Kyojin but it really had potential. Maybe the lack of a "real" IGL was the problem, but the IGL market is France really sucks.
I would've liked a roster built around NBK as an IGL, especially because he needed a team and he was fine with tier 2 (sadly mouz got on him as soon as his contract ended, LDLC shouldve reacted faster esp because they have the budget). This way Ha-Mak-NBK-Pyth-Kyo actually looked crazy good. LDLC could've gotten a top20 roster if they wanted, since they have the money.
That's my take.

Yes I agree with you. I really liked the roster linked from the reports, and I think that Maka Python Kyojin Keoz and Hadji could've been strong, especially with Maka IGLing. I would have prefered GenOne to be recruited as an academic team in LDLC, It would have helped them grow around the main roster.
However, I do believe that after a year together with LDLC, the youngster lineup could break into top 50, as they have massive growing potential and they are surrounded by Krav, Lambert, and KRL as well.
But yes I do believe that it must be pretty disappointing for you as the lineup won't be competitive for top 30, or atleast anytime soon.
We'll see what the future holds up for us! :)

If kyojin's roster finds an org, I think its a win-win situation for french scene
Youngsters have an org and also there are two potentially strong tier 2 teams (HEET and kyojin's one). And you even have amanek+kenny project aswell

If ex-LDLC manages to find an org, yes, if they don’t, not really.
The win-win situation would have been :
1. LDLC reconducts Maka, Hadji and Keoz and add Python and Kyojin.
2. ex-GenOne are recruited as an academy by LDLC or even Vitality.
That way everybody would have contracts and only AmaNEk/kennyS project would have to get some.
actually decent, ldlc roster with lambert underachieved and my guess is the org didnt want to pay them bigger salaries.
I think its a good move for LDLC, if you want a french lineup right now either you get vitality rejects and/or guys that have been in the scene for 5 years without achieving anything and the best you can hope is being tier 2 batling for elisa invitational, better take unknown talents and try to improve with them with no pressure get a good coaching staff and try a gambit like project.

There was a threat about them today but it was called like "LDLC why?" so it wasn't as informative as yours and more so complaining about LDLC picking up this roster rather than maka & co

I think I know what you’re referring to.
At some point Envys CEO tweeted that he aways liked French CS or something, like 3-4 months ago.
That was when DBL Poney were looking for an org, so there were some assumptions, but it never went further, and I don’t think it will.
