Warning!!! Clever scam method
 |
Trinidad and Tobago r41
Introduction: This scam happened to me a while ago, but i see nobody talking about it so im making this tread to spread the word and prevent less ppl from getting scammed. I thought i'd never fall for a scam just like you but this was genius. I will try to keep it as short as possible. How it went down: I am a csgo trader, one day there was a person who came to me and wanted to trade their five-seven case hardened blue pattern. I usually dont take special patterns or floats, but he was pretending like he doesnt know much about skins, and back then his pattern + the condition i think that was Well-Worn was worth probably around $300 on csmoney and buff. Base price five seven was around 5 euro. So we were negotiating and i sent him a trade for 30 euro of his skins. I thought i was the smart one lowballing him. He had only a few skins in his inventory and only one five-seven. I've inspected it and confirmed its the same one. He declined my first trade offer and said it was too low, he said send a new one but add 5 more euro. I did it, he accepted and suddenly the five-seven was not blue anymore. How the scam worked: I think how he did it was, he had two five-sevens. The real blue gem was in his inventory in the beginning and the fake one was listed on the steam market for an overpriced value so you wont see it. Then when i sent him the offer, he declined it, unlisted the fake blue gem and listed the overpriced one back on the market. Its the only way since he didnt had a storage unit. So the second time when i sent him a trade offer, ive actually put the five-seven worth base price. I dont remember the actual amount i got scammed for, but i got 5 euro from his five-seven and gave him i think 35 euro. So lost 30 euro from that. Hope this helps you out, gl not getting scammed

isn't there like a chrome extension where you can see the float and the pattern id? maybe check it from there

im using Gery's trading extension which looks like this: prnt.sc/26g7z0q shows floats, but floats were pretty similar so its hard to notice... pattern it doesnt show

There is a specific code for every item

CSGO Inventory Helper or something. But yes. Always good to check stuff. If a deal seems to good, something is usually up and you should double check at every step. Also deserved, since you were basically thinking you could scam someone for about €200+.

i wasnt scamming him, not every trader overpays for stuff like patterns or floats. Therefore for me this item is worth base price

then why pay more then 5 bucks bro xD You tryna cop a quick profit by scamming some idiot, just admit it.

because i was willing to take the risk and take the skin that is hard to trade but can make me profit in the long way. And its not scamming, skins dont have a set price, everyone can use different sources for pricing
2022-01-20 11:59

everyone knows that if a skin is "worth" $300 you can easily quicksell for $200 or something. Nobody who doesn't want to scam would offer anything below 65% of item price depending on payment method. /closed.

Thats not how patterns work lmao. Everyone can list their pattern at any price they want. Its about finding the right person to sell/trade it to. You clearly know nothing about cs skins. If you have five-seven blue gem u think u can quick sell it? The one that was selling for $300 on csm was a USER LISTING. Meaning user wants to sell it at this much, u think that makes it worth $300? Only if u find a person who willing to buy it at this much
2022-01-20 12:03

then why not check sales history on the pattern bro. I stopped actively trading a few years ago. There's plenty of people with the network or cash around to either resell that skin quickly, or have no issues in keeping it around for a while. Even if the skin would normally sell for $200, $35 would still be sharking big time.

because i dont use csmoney for price check. I always use buff. I just checked multiple sources as a reference. And yet still lowballing and scamming are two different things since everyone can think their skins are worth howevermuch they want

such a lowball is a scam. Then you should put the actual selling price in the thread. but continue malding.

you've tried to take advantage of someone you thought to be dim witted or uninformed, not a scam, just immoral.
2022-01-20 12:52
it's technically not scamming but trying to lowball someone that doesn't know the true value of his skins in the first place is just sharking
2022-01-20 12:49
Sharking is not scamming, please don't conflate the two

As much as ''lowballing'' or whatever isnt actually scamming, and its acceptable if its not that much i think 270$ EURO Difference makes you a scammer. i wouldnt have a clear conscience if i underpayed 270 Euros on a guy that didnt know much about skins and the market
