I can see the point you're making. s1mple's current peak is undoubtedly the greatest in CS:GO history to a point but attempting to make illogical comparisons to 1.6 and other iterations of CS:GO is just completely misinformed, in my opinion. GTR had some of the best CS:GO statistics ever but that was during a time where CS:GO competition was practically non-existent, factor in both f0rest and GTR for 1.6 and GO consistency and then accumulate those statistics instead of attempting to foolishly overrate a players peak as of right now. It's a just a case of exaggeration, realism and I guess praise all in one nutshell. s1mple is a god and is riding on the biggest of clouds as of right now but like you stated, this is one year and we have no idea if this could be replicated again in the future of the game via ZywOo, s1mple himself or any of the new and upcoming talents we have right now. ^^

"Young kids" Dude, I am from 1.6 era and played at semi-pro level at that time. Forest, neo, markeloff, edward, get_right were amazing. They are all legends, but things s1mple achieve in personal skill just overcomes all the others combined and its by a really high margin

old millenials don't realize how much harder it is to play t1 cs in 2021 then it was 6+ years ago. No one really cares about how far ahead f0rest was compared to everyone else in 2014 when s1mple, ZywOo etc are dealing with tons more prep, analysis, utility and coordination then anyone from that time.

Till 2017, HLTV Top20 Rankings were quite heavily influenced by team achievements. Simply good stats without many great events wouldn't be enough. That's why even 2014 Prime KennyS (highest stats of 2014: hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2014-01..) couldn't even get in Top5 of 2014, cuz he had lesser achievements. 2017 s1mple officially had the highest/2nd-highest stats of the year, amongst all the Top20 Ranked players of 2017 (hltv.org/stats/players?startDate=2017-01..), in addition to an MVP and a trophy, and still was out of Top5.

imo s1mple would have crumbled under pressure. it's almost paradoxical how some of those quake players manage not to tilt while tilting. it's a completely different kind of pressure when you are 100% responsible for the outcome. no one to blame but yourself. device who is considered by many to be the goat has been choking for many years. he's even choked in some of the finals during the astralis era and was bailed by other members making up for it. niko had (or perhaps still has) the same issue. same thing with s1mple, though it got better during 2021. 1v1 games are underrated.
