I rented an apartment for a few years, and eventually just got tired of it, because I realized how much of a waste of money it is, when I could be paying that money off to myself instead of some landlord And thanks so much man

I'm not sure, but I guess it depends how long you plan on living there. My dream has always been to do my dream job, and have passive income on the side so I never have to worry about money, and this is one step closer to that dream.

Ah, I'm 22, been studying and working my ass off since I was a little kid, my best friends mom gave me a motivational speech when I was 11/12 after my father died, and that has stuck with me since and motivated me to just grind and grind.

Buying an appartment is so stupid honestly.
2022-01-22 23:42
17 replies
Why do you think that?
2022-01-22 23:43
16 replies
Because when you rent an appartment you can leave it anytime and you have no responsibilities and don't have to bother with unforeseeable events. It is a burden. I woul have saved that money instead and invested it in a diversified portfolio to make safe 7-8% returns each year and couple years once you have settled in with family, kids etc you could buy a nice home etc or use it for other useful investments.
2022-01-22 23:50
15 replies
do u have such an investments?
2022-01-22 23:53
1 reply
No, because even tho i have a decent job i pay my own bills and cant save big chunks of money to buy a 300k appartment. Dude saved 300k in 3 years? Yeah no way while working in gas stations and clothing stores. But my brother has 5 digits invested in such a portfolio and i helped him with that.
2022-01-22 23:56
I understand, the money I used for the payout is part of the money I've saved up, I still have some left in my savings, which my banking advisor advised me to do, should any unforeseen expense come up. However, as I've said in another comment in this thread, my dream is to own several apartments/houses/businesses, and eventually get to a point where I don't ever have to think about money again, except for how I want to manage and spend it. I don't have plans for family, kids or anything, I am only 22 years old. I don't need a car as I live in bike range to the city. I have always been quite good at saving my money, and I don't see why that would change now. I also will be paying money to my loan instead of paying it to some landlord and never seeing it again, which I very much prefer.

I don't know where you're getting this 300k figure from, I had around 80k total that I'd saved up since I was 10 or 11 years old.

Ridiculous... You inherited a big chunk of that and you worked in shitty jobs while living on your moms costs to save some peanuts and buy a fucking appartment at the age of 22 to have passive income in the future, so you lazy ass can keep doing nothing. And you believe you can buy more appartments while most of the money so far came from anything but work. You were off a lucky start and could have used that money so much better and you are extremely delusional.

He can't buy a full house yet he's 22 yrs old. Apartment is just tiny house and it is good for him since he doesn't need all the space that a house brings quite yet.

Yeah exactly. Also, if I wanted a house close to the city I would either have to pay 100 times more or buy some shit house a bit further away and then I would also need a car anyways.

Thanks man, my older friend who just got his first house says that being able to do what you want with it is the biggest freedom. You know, not having to ask some landlord if you have a problem with the apartment and wait a month for him to fix it, just fix it yourself.

yeah, that's good and bad because you have to pay for the fix if you don't know how to do it haha also the apartment I rent was already furnished and it's awesome to just choose the things you want for the apartment
