Money in skins?
 |
Cyprus That_one_lonely_boy
Hi men) I was thinking about the money I have on the bank, doing nothing but decreasing cause of inflation. But seeing the markets. They’re not doing well either.. You got some advise? Could put few thousands in csgo skins? Or might price drastically decrease? Or maybe you KNOW some investment? Thanks, That lonely one

I don’t think investing into cs is a good idea. Invest into shares, but only if you know the market, otherwise it’s t becomes a gamble.

I have most of my savings in skins, they've increased like 5 % in the last 4 months so not really better than stocks but its nice to be able to have insane skins for 'free'

Yeah I was thinking about something like this, because you can always sell them right when you want? Via external sites. Could just use the money then using skins instead of in bank with no rent and only inflation

exactly, but look at the fees/commission the different sites take before you buy, if you buy on sites like cs.money or Skinbaron and sell your skins there later, you will lose like 40%+ - Try to buy skins via sites like skinbid or gamerpay (low prices), or buy balance for Buff.163.com (people like Anomaly and HeyZeus frequently sell, check their twitters), if you do the work you can end up basically owning the skins for free. DM me if you want help

You need to understand though that skins are NOT an investment, but it is a nice way of using money that would otherwise just be sitting in your bank account being useless - you get to have cool skins and if you're lucky you might make some money, if you're unlucky you will lose money.

Yes exactly this men, I just thought of using that bank money in a more funny way then watching it on the bank decreasing. I have other money if I want to invest. So you commend buff?

if you buy certain items you will always make money until the game dies invest in kato14 papers and you are guaranteed to make profit

Not so sure about that, i believe the reason their prices has increased so massively is mainly because of all other investment items, like old cars, watches, crypto, tech stocks, art etc. has increased - for some reason, people have gotten a lot of money laying around in the last few years and no-one just wants their money to sit in their bank account. Its pretty obvious that all of this is a bubble though, theres no logical reason that crypto is as expensive as it is or that tesla is as valuable as all other automakers combined, at some point these things have to return to normality if you ask me, and when that happens, skins will take a huge blow aswell.

you usually need to sell your skin for 10-30% cheaper (depending on skin, very popular skin can be sold with 10% discount or even 5%, not so popular skins need like 20%-30% discount). Then skinbaron also has 15% fee

Some sites have lower fees. Cs.deals for example have only 2% fee (iirc) but I personally sell skins on Skinport. 12% fee but they are selling really fast and I never had any problems with withdraws or something But I guess if time is not a problem you can sell on sites with very low fee and you wont lose that much. But thats only if you also bought that skin on sites and not on steam because you will still lose then if you sell it 10-30% lower than on steam))

They take a pretty large overprice compared to the market value of the skin, often at least 40% overs Then when you sell again they will take market price or slight lower And on top of this, they have their fees, so in reality i actually think its closer to 50-60% although i haven't done the math

i thought the whole selling point of these sites was to be cheaper than the steam market? i'm guessing a large chunk of their profit comes from their commission fees?

No, when i say market price i dont mean steam price, i mean Buff.163 prices Basically in the world of skins, the price of the skin on Buff is the value of the skin, so sites like Skinbaron and CSM make money by buying and selling skins at prices below Steam prices but above market prices. They have commission fees as well, although i doubt thats where the main chunk of their profits come from. My friend bought a knife on Cs.money for ~500 dollars (below steam price, above market price), but when he wanted to sell it again, they would only give him 350 dollars for that same knife (market price). Zipel made a video about this too, they basically have their own currency

Invest in a new apartment/house or in the stock market. This is long term investment and you may lose money short term on the stock market.

The issue is that it's hard to convert that skins back into real money, most sites have fees of like 15%

if i were to invest in cs id invest in eSports cases and discontinued sticked capsuels, since you cant recive them as drop, nor can you buy them, so there will be less and less of those as they get opened but i wouldnt invest in cs, id buy dividend stocks, they are like normal stocks, but the company pays on average of 4% of the stock price back to you, 500 euro stock = 20 euros per year. of course do reacearch before buying
2022-01-25 11:07
Investing in CS:GO right now is not as simple as it was a couple of years ago IMO. You really have to actively manage your investments and sell off when the market enters a bubble. For instance, the capsules from the major are already up over 25% even though there are probably tens of millions of them in storage units. Another problem is that most items that see good returns are the cheap ones, so you will have to buy a shit ton of them, and selling them off takes forever. Overall it's probably not worth the headache and stress.

thanks for info, was now just thinking about stalling a bit of money in csgo just to play with knife, gloves... and then when I'm done with the game taking the money back out of it. For real investing I'll look at the stock market, maybe some interesting lows of some stocks atm

if you are sitting on quite bunch of money just , find som good looking fintech, they are offering pretty solid benefits, like payback etc. depends on amount of money you have in account. Csgo market isnt regulated at all, so it can be pretty dangerous

the CS market is pretty volatile tbh, I don't think it would be the best idea but if you do invest I'd recommend to check the price trends of the skins and try to invest in things from discontinued collections that are desirable, like the AWP Gungnir or the skins that trade up to it for example but do your research

you can't get 100% of the skin value ever. unless you have kato 14 crafts, stickers or scar pattern guns , rare float knives etc etc. On normal skins you lose a few % of the value everytime you trade or get cash for that skin.

me in 2014: HAHAHAHA my cobblestone souvenir worth 20 eur and my 2014 kato stickers worth like 10 euro each!! I will sell it, imagine paying 10 euro for pixels hahahaha! Now this souvenir is worth like 1k eur and some stickers worth A LOT more. And who is laughing now? Me or that guys who bought that stickers and souvenir from me back in the day? I was a kid back then and of course I didn't even realise that something like this can have any value (and I got it for free so I just sold it, 20 eur for free a kid was a nice money) of course now prices won't skyrocket like that anymore but its still possible to make some money on skins (it's better to invest in other things tho)

no point cause most of the skins depreciate in value if you have a rare drop usually it's best to sell it asap cause once the drop increases in number the SP is going to go down...the best example would be the new dreams and nightmare case...the price fell almost exponentially or the other option is that usually whenever valve drops a new CS case the other previous case inflate in value keep an eve on the various sales steam provides

Not true, a lot of older skins and cases go up in value. Also it will drop now. Chinses new year in 1 week. Most likely will spike in price like all other years. And if you rly know about skins u would know that in winter they always drop down. during summer they usually go up more than they dropped in winter. keep tabs on the trends and ull be good for the most part.
