they've changed and probly will change their style slightly to adapt to new age. You may not like it, I personally think all of them are great.

Megadeth had a very unfair advantage over Metallica by the name of Marty Friedman. Even Chris Poland was a beast. Megadeth has always had far superior musicians imo, Kirk Hammett has been washed up for over 2 decades. He wrote a few good solos like Ride the Lightning and Blackened, but he hit his peak very early and never tried to improve and his peak wasn't even that impressive anyway.

Look, I like Metallica and appreciate what they did for metal and their excellent viability as an entryway band for people to get into such a great genre. But... they are so far from the 'best thrash metal ever made' that it's not even funny.
