Best EU country to visit abroad?
 |
United States Pronouns
And general areas in EU also. I will visit family in UK and will go from there. I value food, weather, architecture, nightlife, and general fun things to do and a nice vibe. People being friendly is a plus. Apparently Spain, Portugal, Greece, Prague, Budapest, maybe Italy is the best but I want your opinion or please recommend another country/area ty

Those are just typical stereotypes and prejudice. I personally havent been to Russia, but i know there are some cities which are more spectacular than capitols of some european countries. And about Serbia, we have been trough many wars in history so many cities have that kind of a vibe, u have so many medieval fortresses that u can visit, monasteries, churches,... But if we are talking about Belgrade its like country itself. Most of the things that are building in Serbia are in Belgrade, and as i said in #121 is probably one of the best cities in Europe at night

The song is about the defense of Belgrade during WW1. Check out the wikipedia article about Dragutin Gavrilović: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragutin_Gavrilovi.. He gave a speech right before a counter charge against the Astro-Hungarian attackers: "Soldiers, exactly at three o'clock, the enemy is to be crushed by your fierce charge, destroyed by your grenades and bayonets. The honor of Belgrade, our capital, must not be stained. Soldiers! Heroes! The supreme command has erased our regiment from its records. Our regiment has been sacrificed for the honor of Belgrade and the Fatherland. Therefore, you no longer need to worry about your lives: they no longer exist. So, forward to glory! For the King and the Fatherland! Long live the King, Long live Belgrade!"

You can start in Italy, maybe Florence then go up to Venice. Afterwards visit Vienna (consider going through Südtirol and then stopping at Salzburg & Hallstatt before if you are into "typically austrian" scenery or visit Triest instead on your way to Vienna), then go from there to Prague and afterwards to Budapest. You can sneak Bratislava in there as well if you want. Then, if you have time and want to, you can head south to maybe Croatia or Greece. edit: If you want to stay in one country stick to Italy I would say. You have mountains & forest up north in Südtirol, great cities in the middle of the country such as Venice, Florence, Rome etc & more coastline than you can ask for.

I'd love to visit Germany someday. Especially the Bavaria region. Since it has unique traditions and culture. But I'll have to stick to visiting on Google earth and maps for a long time. Also I looked up Erfurt and it looks like a really lovely city. I really like the medieval style houses and the old churches. I'll definitely visit someday.

the city used to be a trading hub since many trading routes crossed there so the merchants built many churches and stuff to show off their wealth. i guess the densitiy of 12th century buildings is as high as almost nowhere else the german regions are quiet different in dialect and culture but they all got something to them. Thuringia is right above bavaria. was btw an entity already at the time of the franks bavaria is really nice as well but i still prefer north germany

I'd say it depends on when you are going. You will find all the you are looking for in every EU nation, but if you in late June, in July or August I recommend staying to the Northern parts of Europe as otherwise it can get to hot for comfort. And if you go in mid June to early July then you'll find the days in Scandinavia hardly ends, there is something magical by summer nights so short you almost can miss them.

I have never been to either, but I hear good things and they are on my bucket list. Depending on what you look for it could either be a great choice or a total mistake, if you pick the right airline chances are you could maybe get a few days on Iceland when either going to Europe or back from Europe. The Faroe Islands are a bit more out of the way, but like Iceland amazing.

You can say you like food and architecture and weather, but you'll need to be more specific than that. Also, interesting architecture you can find everywhere in Europe, it's called "the old world" for a reason. Portugal/Spain is worth recommending for food and sunny/warm weather. Greece also has both, but it's quite far from the UK. Norway has amazing landscapes and food, and it'll be a little cooler in the summer. Sweden has even better food, but not the amazing coastal landscapes. The Netherlands and Belgium are right off the coast and they are quite proud of their food and drink too. Though the weather isn't generally too good. If you prefer warm weather, you can do a route from Belgium to France, to Spain to Portugal, back to Spain, Italy, and then back north. Or if you prefer cold, you could go to Belgium, over the Netherlands to Denmark, to Sweden to the north, and then come back over the Norwegian coast.

A silly question. What kind of a connection is there between loving Istanbul and the flag?

probably italy and spain, they both have alot of history and alot of things to visit, people are more open in mediterranean countries and everything is not that really expensive in comparation to other european countries like Switzerland. Plus food is very good in both countries, people is important too, most people is friendly and has good vibes, in other countris people is way more closed.

Definitely visit a midterrainean country (I'd do Spain, Italy or Greece) if you're only visiting one country. If you are backpacking a bit and have more time, I'd do France, Germany, Switzerland or Austria aswell. The alps are cool, but the big cities are just the same-ish all over the world. Scandinavia is okay, but expensive. Norway has the most cool nature, but also omega expensive. Stay away from Eastern EU.

So many options... For Spain I'd recommend Barcelona/Valencia, for Italy I'd recommend Bologna/Firenze/Rome/Napoli, for Belgium I'd recommend Bruges/Brussels/Ghent, for The Netherlands I'd recommend Amsterdam, i mean I could go on forever tbh but most capital cities in EU are worth your while

is that a valid reason to state that France is shit ? There are a lot of beautiful places in France, you just did not visit the good ones, i guess.

With all due respect to you, I generally don't like the French people I've encountered. I've been to Paris before, they all seem very arrogant and smug especially towards foreigners. Friends of mine were in Marseille last week and that didn't turn out great either haha

Yeah i can get the point, french people are not all nice, but i guarantee that it's like anywhere : good people and bad people. You said Paris and Marseille, 2 big cities, and even in those there has to be good people, but there are nicer places like mountains (Alpes), côte d'Azur (even if they're not known to welcome tourists actually) landscapes are beautiful. I hope you will someday have the chance to appreciate a journey in France. Have a nice day ;)

I would suggest to make small journeys in several countries. Me, for example, i'd like to spend 2 days in Copenhagen, then 2 days in Bucarest, 2 days in Lisboa ... things like that. All i can say is i spent a week in Roma a few years ago and it was beautiful !

> I value food, weather, architecture, nightlife, and general fun things to do and a nice vibe. You already metioned Budapest but I still second it. I don't care for nightlife, but even I had fun time there, and if you are not complete moron its super safe place. There's awesome architecture, museums have English texts so you can understand stuff there. I especially suggest visiting House of Terror, fucking intense place. Food is cheap and in most places extremely well prepared. Avoid the tourist street though, its fucking nightmare.
