Online gambling businesses inevitably process personal data about their customers. Those based in the EU or offering services to individuals in the EU will be caught by the GDPR and, potentially, national data protection laws. As a heavily regulated sector, online gambling businesses also have to comply with laws in other areas, including in relation to anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud prevention. This can lead to confusion about which requirements take precedence.

As a developer I can tell that as years go by data is less important and big data at betting sites are stored at most for around 1 year.

They may be legally obliged to remove unnecessary user data after a number of years. In New Zealand business are required to constantly review user data as well as delete it after a reasonable time period. Look up GDPR Data Retention laws. They have no reason to keep data from bets 7+ years ago as it provides nothing to their business and they cannot keep it "just in case"

GDPR concerns personal data, betting logs are not fucking personal nor identifiable the account is identifiable and they need to retain the account for obvious reasons. It's only when the account is deleted/disabled must the information about the account be removed.

I would recommend you go read on the GDPR data and information storing laws. It is not allowed to store most data that identifies a person for more then 5 years. Under GDPR, data controllers and processors are obliged to return or delete all personal data after the end of services, or on expiry of a contract or agreement, unless it's necessary to retain the data by law. Most laws about book keeping etc. limit to 5 years, so most likely there is no data to examine and the company will for sure not store any excess data that is not mandatory to save - and most of the mandatory stuff is also for a maximum of 5 years.

May 5, 2021 Recent changes related to personal data protection show that Kazakhstan strives to be a part of jurisdictions that recognize the importance of the development of the legal framework for the protection of personal data and that are actively adopting the basic principles set out in the EU’s GDPR. Throughout 2020, Dentons’ Kazakhstan team regularly informed its clients about changes and amendments that were adopted to enhance the legislation on personal data. The analysis of these changes clearly indicates that Kazakhstan’s aim is to strengthen personal data legislation by gradually moving towards GDPR standards. In this digest, we summarize the most important changes1 Kazakhstan has made. Data Protection Authority. Kazakhstan has officially appointed the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry as the DPA. The ministry is now authorized to examine data subjects’ appeals and inspect organizations for compliance with the Data Protection Law. Data protection officers. Now companies are obliged to appoint a DPO who should ensure internal compliance with the Data Protection Law. Data breach notification. Similar to the GDPR, Kazakhstani companies have to notify the DPA about incidents of information security associated with illegal (unauthorized) access to personal data. Data protection impact assessment. The law now requires companies to conduct an analysis on the purposes of data collection and processing prior to such activities. The list of purposes should be composed based on this analysis, and it is prohibited to collect or process data that is not included in the list. Strengthening of data subjects’ rights. All changes prioritize the further empowerment of data subjects. Individuals are now entitled to demand the destruction of false personal data or the amendment of imprecise data. In addition, they are given effective measures to protect their rights without going to court: the ability to appeal to the DPA on issues of companies’ compliance with the established procedures of data collection and processing. The GDPR is having an influence on personal data protection in Kazakhstan. We believe that the legislators will continue to implement the GDPR principles in the future. dentons.com/en/insights/alerts/2021/may/.. Just the first link I ended up in 30s of Googling. I would say they would most likely abide with the way Europe does things as it is beneficial for them. (Operating with partners from EU area f.e.)

GDPR In Kazakhstan, yes!!!
2022-05-16 16:24
Depends on laws from every country. Some data needs to be stored for sure X years, usually it's 5, but no idea about there. ISP even have all your ip and pings you do 24/7 for years. But yep, if it's gone it's gone, or hard to do forensics, but if one of the guys have already proof and can tell the exact match, bet and who did it, maybe they can find something. Who knows.

iBP is not banned, the players are. They could have another team if they wanted.
2022-05-16 15:25
1) this was also pretty early in CSGO's days. 2a) he's a csgo player from a country not known for massive wealth. 2b) a big reason for why IBP got sympathy is that it was an isolated incident at a smaller tournament by players who weren't exactly rolling in dough. Remember something about swag living in a trailer 3) It was seven years ago. What would banning him now solve. Let's not pretend "I shouldn't matchfix because this could one day be my actual job" was a remotely realistic expectation he could have had.

This isn't a criminal thing but viewed from the perspective of the scene and what you could expect from it. Think 2015 was the year gob b was the first player to sign a full-time contract. Compare that to the many full-time players in T1 & 2, the size of the scene, prize pools,.... nowadays.
2022-05-16 16:26
7 years isn't short for statue of limitations, I can name a dozen countries this would be dropped due to statue of limitations.
2022-05-16 16:27
Not really. If he got banned he could blame it on his young age, financial situation, peer pressure, etc. If he's lying no one will have sympathy for him.

this is basic damage control
2022-05-16 16:08
This tweet reminds me of RIolu's case in Trackmania. He was accused of cheating and made a whole stream "proving" his innocence. Two days later, new evidence came out and the guy just disappeared from the map, deleted all his accounts and was insta kicked from his org.

I don't see how that's comparable at all. He's not trying to prove anything in his tweet, he's just denying the allegations made against him. Also, a nonamer no one cares about has a lot less to lose than a top CS player.

From what i have seen there is no actual proof. Screenshots are completely useless, you can F12 anything and make it look legit. Good luck getting data from 2015 as ESIC from Kazakh company, they have no obligation to provide it and will probably get laughed out at thought of esports committee even existing, in my opinion they fixed but you cant prove it

+1 Not saying he did or didnt do it but theres a good chance that company doesnt even have the info related to those bets anymore. At worst if you accept the screenshots are true he said he would matchfix but no proof he actually did. Probably nothing happens because it will be so hard to get concrete info and turn into a he said she said thing.
