Team Spirit winning TI10 is absolutely the biggest fluke in the esport history, now they are back to the dog and get out of the major on the first day. Before TI10 they are not even a tier2 team and now they are back to tier3. The only possible way to have a bigger fluke is to let Team Spirit win CSGO Major (Which is likely).

meh they were top 5 and the only rly surprising win was against faze. they had beat every other team that they beat in Boston before. FaZe win was surprising but def not impossible they had been slowly getting better against them.
What? They disbanded later due to motivation issues (Skadoodle very specifically achieving what he wanted), but prior to that point they were playing well constantly. There wasn't any talk of disbanding until after the major.

It was played 4 times in the final. Twice spirit won in a dominant fashion. The game that they lost was on minute 50 vs late game spectre and tinker, which is practically impossible to do if those ppl know how to play. And last time psg stole magnus cs them and won in 24 min.
That hero was too good, and 3/4 times it won in a dominant fashion. PSG didnt show that they can counter it
bigger mistake was to rely solely on the tiny + lycan combo in that game tbh when spirit had shown that they countered it super well in the tournament
also it hurt to see skywrath not buy shard that game (which is easily the most broken shards in the game btw) as a low armor hero vs physical damage

Yeah, but taking in count how well psg played all year long, they were certain that collapse magnus can be countered. Personally I was rooting very very hard for spirit(obv reasons)
The biggest surprise was for me how they won the game with Naga. I don’t think it was meta hero at the time, and they still managed to steal it against Lycan Io

Spirit winning TI10 was no fluke. They had 3 great players + decent support. Then they had that one gamebreaking guy who was chosen as the mvp who was absolutely great with maybe three heroes but for some reason, that I don't understand, opponents didn't counter him in veto most of the time. Instead giving him Magnus for free roam.
It was like giving Big dust2 as decider map for every game. Not a fault of Spirit by any means if all other teams suck ass.

In general I don't think there really ever is a fluke, but.
Fluke would be Faze winning Katowice because putin decided to wage was just before playoffs to make all cis teams distracted and play like shit.
Fluke could also be exteme luck in draw during all the rounds.
Basically some external circumstances that make the opposition be much worse than they should be. But not opposite team shitting the bed inside the server.
LGD didn't want to ban it and when they got their strongest draft (tiny + lycan), Collapse still bodied them on Mag, it was some next level shid

I understand the logic, but I don't agree with it, the Magnus was so strong. But not that I'm wiser than them about this. The funniest thing was however when opposition picked the Magnus to deny it from collapse but couldn't replicate the effectiveness at all. So many teams fell to the magnus trap.

always easy to criticize in hind sight I guess, I dont think anyone could have predicted how well collapse was going to play, especially in game 5, which a lot of people already called for LGD after the draft

the only comparable TI for me was TI6 when Wings Gaming won, they had the crazy style of picking to counter, and off-meta strategies, instead of focusing on comfort picks. and huge underdogs that NOBODY picked to win, like Spirit.
they (Wings) picked I think 40 different heroes in main event, and they went through the UPPER BRACKET!

just checked and it was 40 out of a possible 55 xD, so only 15 times duplicate pick, those guys were on some next level BS
sadly the team and org fell apart soon after winning, but then again the chinese scene has had it problems, especially back then

Yatoro was great with so many other heroes, thats true. However my observation with collapse was that, while he was godlike with maybe three heroes, his quality dropped quite a lot if not getting one of those three.
Fluked against OG, Fluked against VP, Fluked against IG, Fluked against Secret, Fluked against LGD, Heckin Spirit fluke TI.

How can i forget this OG meltdown TI as their dota2 fans lmao. And wings strats ain't bad it just unusual at that time because almost nobody playing that fast and aggresive with almost every hero like they do and it really work wonder for them since they're dominating for quite sometimes, so how that even bad? Even some team still using that kinda tactics nowadays sometimes. take LGD for example in last TI they literally play almost like wings except their draft are more polished.
The biggest fluke of that TI was DC reach the finals and fnatic make it to top 4 not wings.

Yeah no. Spirit absolutely crushed their region after TI and played badly here simply because their synergy is off. Acceptable since they have had little to no practice thanks to the war. They practiced more right before the tournament in a bootcamp manner more than they did the whole DPC season.
You look at only the results but the context is important as well.
I dont see amy luck involved, they played beautiful dota, knew their win conditions very well(just like og the 2 years prior), executed their fights to perfection and also had a monster of a carry in yatoro who set a record of rampages in TI and played like 15 different champs during the tournament, all of them in a impresive manner. Lgd crumbling in the final(if you can call it that, they still took2 games) can be attributed to the pressure and spirit getting into their heads since they already got to top3 at 4 internationals and never won it
Edit: to add to this, ofc they dont play this good rn, there is war, they probably dont care as much as they did for the biggest tournament of their lives(i remeber when they were asked in post final interview what their plans were they even after that much money they will consider not playing anymore) and og was shit too after the first ti they won and still won one more
No tournament win can be called a fluke... No one wins the whole thing by luck or because EVERYBODY ELSE made tons of mistakes, it's a huge excuse for losers that can't handle betting or that are mad that their favorite got rekt.
Flukes are related to winning A MATCH, then a fluke can happen. Anyone that wins A TOURNAMENT, deserved to win (unless they were favored by a bug, like G2, but they got what they deserved).
