Top 5 IGL of All Time
 |
Ukraine NAVI_WILL_WIN_MAJOR_PGL
1. gla1ve - no doubt here. 4 majors, a lot of more tournaments. In top since 2016. 2. FalleN - I think he's number 2 over pronax. 2 majors, trophies, top awp player 2015-2018, top 2 hltv and one of the best masterminds in game and still playing. 3. pronax - 3 majors, era in fnatic and stop play cs in 2019. Thats why FalleN is better than him, more years for showing cs. 4. Zeus - One of the best callers since 1.6 with 1 major in Gambit, a great carreer in NAVI with trophies aswell. 5. karrigan - I think he deserve top 5. Hes great igl, atm is the best for sure, All teams playing good cs with him, thats a fact. Thoughts?

well it's hard to rate igl'ing skills cos well-rounded lineup and teamwork >>> pure igling skills, but looking at accomplishments all of these have and edge over karrigan and maybe even zeus. tho, things may change if karrigan brings that trophy home

I've always found Karrigan to be a great igl. great tactics, gives structure to the team and knows how to be a leader both outside and inside the game, all teams play well with him. It's the same for Zeus. Xizt, Taz, top 10 for sure but not better than karrigan and zeus, for me ofc.
2022-05-18 02:23

well, yes, maybe karrigan hasn't won a major (yet) but the ammount of different lineups he's brought to top-5 tells something
2022-05-18 03:01
1 reply
Karrigan deserves top 5 for the sole reason that he wins with any lineup he is given. From TSM to Faze To mouserports now back to faze. While leading international lineups. Leadership wise he is the best IMO. While other might topple him tactically, like gla1ve.
2022-05-18 03:04
Ex6tenZ and i love fallen but i have Pronax over him, when you compare IGL's you should compare their leading and tactic skills not individual performance and pronax made his teams look great even tho he never had better aim than average LE player.
2022-05-18 02:14
1 reply
I disagree with you in terms of leading and tactic skills. Fallen has shown he can lead any team ( even non-brazilians ) and still perform pretty good. Pronax was good, however in terms of consistency Fallen is greater

I agree however I maybe would have put karrigan over zeus idk. Karrigan hasn't won any majors yet but he won multiple tournaments with different international squads and a dane squad. Back when he was in mousesports he won a tournament with the squad he built with woxic and those other players, with faze 2018 era, and now with faze again. But again he hasn't won a major but I respect that he could build a team and make it a top contender for major finals
2022-05-18 02:15

karrigan isn't the best in terms of achievements obv. but for other reasons you already mentioned. He transformed a mouz into a world beater with fucking 17 year old frozen and unproven ropz + woxic f/e. gla1ve won 4 majors but he also had the players to do so. Everyone who calls karrigan a bad/trash IGL is just brain dead. He's a fantastic IGL.
2022-05-18 02:26

yes. in terms of in game leading, karrigan is the best i think. fallen, glaive, pronax, play with same people to achieve, but karrigan can lead anyone to success. zeus probably also a good leader but not as much as karrigan.

swap karrigan with pronax and its aight list. Karrigan literally won more and in more competitive eras in CS, plus he's literally the only one to have won internationally with completely different lineups of players, not only that but also the only one to win multiple events with stand-ins. So taking all that in consideration might be inclined to put him at #2 actually.
2022-05-18 02:23
1 reply
It's a good point of view, karrigan is like Fallen, he won in several stages of the game and I accept your explanation about pronax, it was like I said, his era was short but considering the feats it's legit to put him at the top 3, there are 3 majors.
2022-05-18 02:27
1. Ex6tenz 2. Karrigan 3. Pronax 4. FalleN 5. Hunden 6. NEO 7. Gla1ve/AleksiB 8. Zeus 9. Tabsen 10. CArn (I would put him much higher, except he's not a CS:GO IGL) And if you only want CS:GO IGLs, 10. may be Alex, Jerry or Xizt or so.
2022-05-18 02:27

Not a good list for me.
2022-05-18 16:40

Hunden could be equal to Karrigan, but we don't know because he hasn't had that level of success. I intuitively think of both Zeus and Tabsen as being higher, but I don't see who they would pass. If we do count CArn, he'd probably be above Karrigan even, he is indirectly the one who made Karrigan, but then there's a bunch more IGLs of older versions of CS that I don't remember or never even knew who might have been at that level as well, that's why I was hesitant to put CArn there. Let me know what you think is the problem with the list.

Everyone who's experienced calling of both say they're the same, the only difference is that Gla1ve has had more success, but that's not necessarily because of their leadership, that's why I put them together.
2022-05-18 21:25
Gla1ve is 1 because of back-to-back-to-back majors and in a very dominant fashion. Nothing could stop astralis. I am really unsure to compare any igl post 2016 with pre 2016. The meta was so much different... Karrigan is top 5 because he is the most versatile IGL ever, always gets into a team and always takes the team into wins. He, however, fails at majors. Fallen should be top but honestly, i think he as a player was much better than as an IGL. Karrigan and Gla1ve managed wins while being total bots.

LG and SK was a beautiful time in cs, fallen igling got the team to play good cs, it's a fact, but yeah, he was a great awper aswell in these years, top tier actually. That's why a put him in top 2, great IGL and good player.

That's the point of FalleN. He is a great IGL, a master mind of the game, but still frags, specially in his peak. The guy has 4 MVPs and was #2 and #6 in top 20 HLTV, while (if I'm not forgetting anyone) the other IGL that come closer to him was gla1ve that got a #8 once.

Because they were together for many years as a core, they had 4 top 20 players in one year, xyp9x being the outlier because it’s rare to get a role player like him to be one of the best players in the world. Reference 2015 fnatic, jw, flusha, Olof, krimz all top 20, won majors back to back and multiple big events. Not because pronax was a god, but because he had 4 godlike players playing under him.
2022-05-18 02:44

Nah, the core was Dupreeh + Device + Xyp. They were under karrigan for a time under TSM, gla1ve got in after. And after, magisk. Once the core completed with magisk, it was total domination. Note that Magisk wasn't even a top player the year before he entered astralis, Playing in a bunch of tier 2 danish teams.. And then in the exact same year he joined astralis, gets #7. The lineup elevated the players, not the other way around. Xyp9x also got better after gla1ve joining, having no top 20 in 2016, but going top 20 in 2017.

that is my point, dupreeh, device, xyp were together for years, they were already a good team before they picked up gla1ve. Astralis only parted ways with karrigan because his vision of how the game should be played didn't line up with Zonic's ideas. Gla1ve was handed the reigns to a team with a fresh high skill player, 3 high skill vets, and the best coach in the game. I'm not saying his part wasn't big or anything of the sort, but i think what we've seen without those caliber of players is very telling. If this guy is really the goat igl, how come astralis tsides look so disjointed now even playing with all danes and 2 top 20 players (konfig has a strong argument in 2021 before his injury), a young talented awper, and a veteran anchor 3x (or more) top 20 player and they look so lost? He's not past the point of redemption yet but if astralis continue to fail with him at the helm with this level of talent then he could knock himself right out of top 3 all time igls

Why is gla1ve #1? I would say karrigan/Fallen is better than him because when zonic left astralis they looked lost on their t sides, that said that zonic was the reason behind astralis strats, not gla1ve. Meanwhile karrigan and fallen call good strats regardless of coach
2022-05-18 03:35
Fallen is the most respected among and by pro players and the one with most impact in numbers. Gla1ve is the one who conquered the most and has more titles to show for. Karrigan is the one who absolutely transforms trash teams into titans, but hasn't really won much. Depending on your criteria, any pick out of these three are valid.
