Apparently u can buy the team for way less than 500k. That is just insane. Meanwhile teams see nothing wrong with throwing $2.1m after ONE player on a totally unproven team (he wasnt even the last missing piece on an already good team) here you know EXACTLY what youre getting for "way less than 500k" and its a FULL team, not just 1 player

It would be easy for Flames to get WAY more for that squad, the only problem is they have weak negotiation power because they cant really afford to sit on the players, its like 5 expensive assets with an underfunded org behind them and thats why orgs can basically get this team for peanuts

No, the 2.1 million included 3 whole years of salary, his buyout was 500k(which was still too much in hindsight but what can you do)

Cloud 9 did that. The total deal was $2.1m for 3 years in which the buyout is included, which is insane on its own, but Es3tag wasnt even the only player that was insanely overpaid, ALEX had a $1.7m deal and woxic $1.3m, so its even worse when you lay out all the cards. Insane contracts for unproven mid players on an unproven team.

No, the 2.1 million included 3 whole years of salary which makes the comparison to buying CPH Flames completely invalid.
C9 never paid 2.1 million for Es3tag, neither for anyone else on the team.

False. The total deal was, correctly, $2.1m. Its true that this $2.1m deal includes both the buyout and 3 years salary.
Es3tags buyout alone is more than the buyout for all 5 flames players, and so is the salary, the comparison is totally valid.

Es3tags buyout is exactly the same as for all the 5 flames players. If you had made that comparison, then I wouldn't have said anything.
But you didn't do that, you said 2.1 million, so if you want to make this comparison, then add 3 years of salary for 5 players + coach to the equation and you are closer to 5 million, then you can compare it to the 2.1 million that Es3tag was meant to cost.
Edit: not quite correct about Es3tag's buyout since it's 500k and CPH Flames is something less than that.

Its a $2.1m total deal for buyout + salary. Its not hard to understand. Youre still giving salary to a guy who is unproven and where u dont know whats in store for the future for this team. Its a deal full of uncertainty.

The 2.1m werent even outrageous numbers, c9 went public about contract details however. You cant rrally compare the total money put into es3tags buyout + 3 years contract to the buyout of the flames. If you wanted to compare thr total sum of 2.1m to the flames, youd have to know what contracts the players demand in order to transfer to another org. Maybe the players want 1m each month as salary (obviously not), then the flames are much more expensive than es3tag

Its only outrageous because you dont know other teams contracts. EG players propably earn more than es3tag did or the same but es3tag was literally wanted by many teams at the time. I doubt that many big orgs wanted to buy out EG players

Yes but es3tag looked like the next big star on the astralis lineup ao it made sense to get him for big money:). Also the salaries where pretty normal for auch a big org. C9 is one of the biggest orgs i believe, they dont give a fuck about those 30k a month imo

If they accept a contract for 10k each it will 2.3m with a 500k buyout. Then you need to pay the coach and 10k imo is not even what they would earn in a big org, surely COL for example couldve payed more, especially if they found success

Even the 10k you mentioned for 3 years is already 1.8 million, and I'm pretty sure thats a lowball in todays standards.
+ Atleast 300k buyout and its even. And theres actually no way in hell you can get them for that cheap after making playoffs.

Almost all the pros are making 10k and some are making 20 to 50k a month so it's not unreasonable for them to get paid that.

I dont think flames are paying well conpared to other orgs, they dont have the capacities for that. However they did win some nice price money. From what ive heard flames is just a small org but its full of wholesome, nice ppl which makes it worth working with them. However the flames players seem way too good for sich little payment if you compare their assumed salary with other teams inside top 20/30

The one I assumed, id say its comparable to a decent job, enough to live a nice life but not enough to secure your future or live a life in luxury. But thats just my assumption based on things ive heard
i read somewhere there salaries increased to 5k a month after stockholm major. before that it was like 1k or around that area

The CEO on twitter has been fairly clear about this, and states that they even have worse support systems then other Top 15 teams. Flames themselves as an Org admit that, and want their players to go on to bigger and better things.
Then re-invest selling money into Danish Scene for new young talents and giving them them the same chance they gave this group. And now more then ever they are proven to be successful so even more potential talents will see them as a good route to Pro. Especially if they sell Nicodooz/Zyphon to a big name.
I kinda explain it in #9 because Flames dont have a lot of liquidity or money to consistently pay the players what theyre actually worth

Something like stickers dont even rake in enough money. Which surprises me. Because ive always thought that prize pools for major is weak af, $1m distributed between several teams and then shared between players, its kinda weak, but then on the other hand ive always thought that stickers were just completely insane for the org and that qualifying for a major means much more than winning it in terms of money. But apparently its not enough.

IIRC it doesnt matter how well your stickers sell, its only the capsule that youre in that each team gets the same cut of. Kinda bad in a way? But I guess its to redistribute the money a bit better, because otherwise more popular teams make more money than less popular teams, but I dont rlly see a problem with that because I thought it raked in so much money any way + I kinda like that you can buy stickers of your favorite team to support them financially as well, but that kinda goes out the window if its just the capsule.

Stickers do bring in an insane amount of money, around $200k just for the players qualifying according to a dexerto report. I think you should read it as yeah we get sticker money, but so do the other orgs (just more sticker money because more fans) and they also have sponsorships, merchandise, history and maybe other game divisions etc they earn alot of money on, which CPF don't.

Also you need to remember that 200k is not that much if you need to pay salary 5 players and support staff and everythin else. Well of course we dont know exact numbers or what kind of contracts they have.
That 200k was just considering if stickers money would be divided to everyone equally

Well, the flames players haven't signed any new contracts since the last major (at least, probably before that) so there's a big possibility that they might just not resign and leave for free. The org doesn't want that and therefore is incentivized to sell them for profit

Yeah, sure, but the co-owner has already said that they tried to accomodate the players regarding a bigger salary etc, but that cannot be possible with how much the big orgs are offering, so for me it seems that they already made up their mind

There must be an underlying issue on why this team has not had any offers.
I was fully expecting that Col was going to buy this team but they wanted to get a NA roster which is understandable considering their venture with an international team fell apart.
However, I think orgs are very cautious about buying a Danish team considering you have 2 other teams in Herioc and Astralis who might be interested in poaching a player or two with big bucks to get them and then you'll be replacing 1/2 players every time the big Dane sides come for your players.

it's totally normal to be skeptical about that roster until now. they had a great run in stockholm, but before that they were in tier 2 alongside teams like ecstatic, skade, havu, etc. who could tell that the stockholm wasn't a fluke? if a team like CoL (or even worse, non louvre pact orgs) invested in them only for them to never make it to another major and stay in tier 2 forever, that'd be a monumental waste of money.
that bad run of form from novemeber until february also tanked their demand, I'd bet. however, they keep proving that their run wasn't a fluke and interest for this side will skyrocket, I'm sure

they probably don't care about t3 tournaments because they wont be winning anything out of that, perhaps even sell the matches. possible for small teams to do since they don't get money any other way. it would explain why they are bad on online t3 tournaments
They are a scary team on LAN, but not good at all online, and that's why they don't win those t2 - t3 online tournaments or BLAST. Apart from that, I think they are a bit inconsistent as well, and my take is on Zyphon and nicodooz. Especially nicodooz is too agressive sometimes, and gets killed easily because of that. Combine that 4 vs 5s with having Hooxi (igl, who in my opinion is comparable to karrigan when we are talking about firepower) and you get 3 vs 5s.

Keep in mind they lost to EC Kyiv, SKADE, BLUEJAYS, K23 and Akimbo in 2022 so I think the price should reflect that

lol major is the best scene for sponsors + theres stickers + theres a major every 5 months.
The other way around is way worse, showing up for any tournament but not showing up to the major, because major is by far the most important and biggest scene
