is anyone still getting the insane var spikes that freeze the game for a whole second?
just played a short match and every round i lagged out wtf
it was a problem last week but its fixed

What var - the top one (client-side) or the bottom one (server-side).
The client-side shows variance between your frametimes, to fix any issues with it you should make sure your temperatures are within normal limits and your PC isn't busy with something else, if nothing helps - buy a better PC.
The server-side shows variance between frametimes of the server you're playing on (however weird it may sound, but every server has its own fps, usually it's not higher than its tickrate but when it's lower - it starts to suck to play on such a server). Obviously there's nothing you can do about it because it's the server's hardware issue.

You might try to just uninstall Steam, remove all folders and keys that have "Valve" and "steam" in their names/values, and then install Steam with games from scratch, but I doubt it will fix anything.
I have my fair share of freaking microfreezes almost since the beginning of my PC's life, buying an SSD made them lighter but fixed nothing, I guess may be it has something to do with faulty BIOS updates or your RAM goind to hell, but not sure, I've been living with those microfreezes for like 3 years so no idea how to fix them.
By the way, when you first start CS:GO and press that "gearwheel" to open ingame settings - does it freezes for like 0.5 sec too or is it just me?

Look... When I reported that to NVIDIA (my GPU manufacturer) - they told me it wasn't proved that it was the GPU's fault. When I reported that to Steam Support - they told me it looked like a hardware issue.
I mean... When it's only me complaining - it's so much easier for those shitpieces to tell me to go fuck myself, but the more people are talking (reporting it to Steam Support) about that issue that has been existing for many years - the more chance there is for them to actually look into it, I'm more than sure with some updates Valve breaks something in the game so it starts microfreezing.

Try to ask about the issue on steamcommunity forums, may be there's someone that had it and fixed it, I doubt so but who knows.

A microfreeze when opening ingame settings - does it happen to you?
I wanna find similarities.
For example, right after you started a new game on aim_botz and you take a first shot - is there a microfreeze at that particular moment when you shoot your first bullet?

Yes i read what you wrote and went to test it just to verify and yes when i press that "gear" icon it microfreezes. I'll test aim botz now and i'll let you know.

Lol, when those morons told me it was my hardware issue - I was freaking sure it was not, but how could I prove it when I was the only one complaining? Now I see I'm not the only one and it's actually the same with different computers.
I suppose if we all create support tickets at the same time - Steam Support won't just tell us all that it's our hardware fault, we just need to share our ticket numbers with one another I guess to tell Steam Support "hey by the way there's a ticket number ******** of a completely different person with a completely different PC and he/she has the same issue so please don't act like it's my own problem because now it's not".
Let me guess - it also always microfreezes at the end of the map when it says "(Counter-)Terrorists win", right?

I guess any microfreeze should not be "standard" for anybody, a microfreeze means something is wrong either with hardware or with Windows or with the game.

Too bad nothing is gonna change, they will blame old engine while refusing to port the game to Source 2 because "it's not simple". I'm getting a 3060 in a few weeks, I will test if these stutters will go away but i doubt it lol.

Got my 3060 today. Tested the gear icon and it didn't stutter, also tested the first shot on aim_botz and it didn't stutter. Haven't tested anything else. Might be that i did a clean install of the drivers, who knows at this point.

Wow, so I should just put up with the fact that somehow a 1660ti can not somehow handle this old balls game? Just wow, Valve must be really proud of their coding skills.
What's the manufacturer of your previous 1660ti and your current 3060?
