Would bo5 be good if it was exclusive to Majors? I think bo5 sucks so much cus people has seen it countless of times in useless B-tier events.
seeing 5 maps played in a final once a year(sometimes more, sometimes less), Would it bring more hype?
Or is every part of bo5 completely dumb?
Personally, i like bo5, i just think it's a bit overused.

The Major is supposed to be the biggest, most important tournament of the year. It definitely also deserves the biggest grand final in my opinion, and most people who are passionate about CS could likely spare 5 hours on a Sunday

That's why majors should be longer than a week. (Incase they brought bo5). Put semifinals 1 weekend and the grand final(bo5) the other weekend.
Ppl might be crying about the event being too long but it's supposed to be the biggest event of the year yet it's shorter than your average RMR lol

That's just a theory though.
LCS finals is 5 hours ish, they had an average viewer of 390k with a peak of 570k, more than last major.
All things considered, making bo5 give off a more ''special'' feeling could bring alot more hype, it's literally impossible for us to tell beforehand if its a good idea or not(viewership wise)
Everything works out if you're willing to put the time required to do so.

That's the thing, i think it would gain some excitement by putting the grand final in a seperate weekend, i might definitely be wrong though.
It's a doublesided coin, if the grandfinal bo5 was to be faze vs navi, it would be super hype.
On the other hand, if it was Na'vi vs Lilmix it would be completely predictable and there would be close to 0 hype lol

How many major finals have you seen that aren't on weekends? Making 5 hours of time on a Sunday twice a year is not difficult to do while employed full time. If you can't find time to dedicate to a 5 hour window (that you're aware of the date for months in advance), you just don't know how to manage your time. Not wanting to spend 5 hours sitting and watching it is not the same as not being able to.
There are definite negatives when it comes to BO5 finals, but people not having time to watch them should not realistically be one of those negatives.

soccer, basketball, hockey, nfl, etc
except work, people have families and other responsibilities
your point "If you can't find time to dedicate to a 5 hour window, you just don't know how to manage your time" is only suites you, if right now I was still in college, I could've said "If you can't find time to dedicate to a 24 hour window, you just don't know how to manage your time"
therefore, your point is irrelevant since it only works in your conditions

There are sports that last longer than 5 hours in terms of game time, such as cricket. Also many sports have much longer than 5 hours in terms of broadcast time, such as with MMA promotions like the UFC where a standard broadcast is 6-7 hours.
I know plenty of people around my age (I'm 27) that find the time to watch live UFC events every single week, staying up until 5am UK time. These are pretty much all people who are employed full-time, plenty of whom have children.
Yes, some people have responsibilities that require them to be doing something else during the broadcast time - that's unavoidable and not what I'm referring to when I say if you can't find 5 hours of time you have poor time management skills.
It does not "only suit me", 5 hours is a very short amount of time to dedicate to something. Fuck, most Friday nights after work I'm out drinking for significantly longer than 5 hours and so are most of my colleagues.
Why would a major final not be on weekend?
28 employed with a gf (almost 8 years together) and i can definitely say i have time to watch pretty much every major whole
I just take 2weeks off every major or just don't work that match (did that pretty much every major in the past 3 years). And i would LOVE is finals were bo5. Like what the fuck is this excuse that you don't have 4-5 hours to watch your hobby twice a year?
Give me a fucking break, so you never watch 3+ hour long movies or read a book for this long?

Even things like going out drinking with friends etc. is also often 5+ hours of purely leisure time, which is effectively the same commitment. If you can manage your work load properly and you get your priority tasks for the day completed before games start there's absolutely no reason why you can't have time.
It's not even THAT difficult when time zones are an issue for you, I manage to catch almost every UFC card front to back which typically goes until 5-6am on a Sunday without that particularly interfering with my working or social life. That's usually around 6-7 hours almost every weekend that I can manage without issue while 27 and full-time employed.
It's maybe a bit different for people with kids or those that work Sundays, but in those situations a BO3 isn't ideal either.

I dont think we have the same conception of being fan of cs. I like watching cs for interesting, pressured maps, not just cs itself. Usually, map 1 is the I dont care map, of course they want to win it, but there are always 2 securities, and it makes players less full tryhard mode, wich I find boring.

I think a Bo5 grand finals would be good for a major but I can see why some people dont like it.
If you're dedicating your entire day to 1 Bo3 and it's a 2-0 sweep it's very anti climatic. I like to see a series go down to the wire.
Bo5 bad for players, viewers and competitiveness. Bo3 better in every way

+1 it’s the ideal grand final for the tournament that is supposed to decide the cream of the crop of CS, in my opinion
nothing wrong with BO5s. the players are used to playing video games for 8+ hours straight, you don't get to the pro-level without being a degenerate gamer. a 5 hour match is a normal day for them, plus they get small breaks in between maps.
I do think that the BO5 should be reserved for major. that would help give the major a "major" feel.
I'd also like to see something done about pistol round balancing. in CS's CT side dominance, if you lose the pistol round on T side in an even match, you're most likely gonna lose the map, and will 99.9% lose if you follow it up with a CT pistol round loss. Pistol rounds should have a place in CSGO but they should be treated more as bonus rounds, I would like to see both teams get a full-buy after the pistol round, regardless of who won.

bo5 is good if it goes 5 maps, i think its boring cause it always goes 1-3 or 0-3
A bo3 without over time lasts like 4 hours already, what's the point? How many hours do you want it to last? What other sports or games have 4 hour finals? And you want to bump it up to 7 hours
I personally like BO5's purly because its best for competition. Even though some players may complain about it, you will never see the better team lose in a bo5 - its a marathon not a spring, and that kinda mindset is what champions should have. It shows which team has the deeper map pool, and who can stand the test of time across a long grueling series of cs. For entertainment i guess its not the best, but I'm all for having the best competitive enviroment.
bo5 is 3 to 5 maps, i think on average each map on usually takes 1 hour on pro scene, which in total makes 3-5 hours + breaks

BO5 is too long, nobody is watching that. At the same time I feel like BO3 is just not enough for a major final.
How about if they play 3xBO3s over 3 days. First to 2 wins = champ. You reduce the luck/having a good day factor, you keep the plot interesting + more viewership = more money

If they're gonna do a BO5 they should make it last 2 days if it goes more than 3 maps on the first day. At least the level of CS would be high on all 5 maps (if it comes to 5 maps) and nobody would get tired.
This 1 day BO5 thing is good only for nerds who screech about imaginary competitive integrity or whatever.
It cant be exclusive, event organisers dont need to listen to VOLVO

I think you should do bo5 in majors and Katowice and Cologne. Makes it more exclusive but personally I like bo5 a lot
From an arena perspective bo5 are great, people would get a lot of bang for the buck especially if it goes 5 maps. Also less likely that a fluke team wins. Froma casual viewer from home and also for players themselves bo5 seem like too much. Especially if some mals go full 30 rounds or OT then the whole series is 5+ hours easily
nah bro. doesnt make any sense whatsoever to play a bo5, it does not matter if is major final or group stage games. the players will be fatigued if the series prolongs to 4/5 maps, which is most likely 5 or 6 hours playing. We as viewers (most of us i'd say) dont have the time to spend watching a 5 hour game and the players/casters themselves will all be fatigued and it just isnt enjoyable to watch
