why would it lag? if you have >150fps STABLE on csgo on ur laptop, then just get a 144hz monitor, make sure you have displayport on your laptop if you have >300fps get 250hz monitor if u want to if you have hdmi then ur stuck at 60hz tho

Display port is a type of cable to connect to the monitor, display port will definitely allow for 144hz. HDMI also will if it is HDMI 1.3 or newer. If it's a new laptop it likely has HDMI 2.0 which would be fine but worth checking.

google displayport, make sure you have it, if you do you can get a 144hz monitor and use it, along with a nice keyboard/mouse etc if you have hdmi then you are capped at 60fps

the cable itself no, its the port in the pc that is important if its hdmi 1.3/1.4 or 2.0 then it works, might be more variants as well that work above 60hz in the users manual of ur specific pc it should say what specifications the ports have if you find out what port model you have then you can just google what monitor hz it supports

"little performance" is a bit misleading, not all laptops throttle, expensive meh, considering you get monitor, keyboard and trackpad included in the price its ok more worth it to buy laptop for school and game for it than buying a desktop along with a laptop for school i have desktop, macbook and ipad tho but i can see the appeal xd

I'm spoiled with high frame rates and a 240hz monitor now. I could never game on a laptop. For starters my keyboard sits far to the left at an angle. I'd just buy the cheapest laptop I can find and put all my money in to a desktop PC. The only time I would is if I was constantly travelling or moving between houses.

just plug keyboard, mouse and monitor into laptop and you have portable solution on which you can both bring to class and game on xd plus you can use the laptops monitor as a secondary monitor if u want to idk i wouldn't have a problem with it, personal preference tho

Definitely buy a monitor, and an external keyboard and mouse. Basically use your laptop like it's a desktop. Or even better, just sell it and buy a desktop.

If your laptop is good enough to easily run the games you play, it's a great idea. If you buy a decent monitor, a keyboard and a good mouse, it will work exactly as a desktop.

Yes, But you have to consider some things. If The laptop has a simple hdmi port, you should check what version is that cuz it will limit the hz, this is the case when you want to buy a gamming monitor +60hz, if the laptop has dp or minidp then you are good if only hmmi then make sure it is the right version that supports the monitor's hz. Also there is the problem with overheating and throttling you might need to buy a good cooler for you laptop. to avoid that.

In university, at one point I had laptop connected to a monitor, plus a usb hub that then connected to kb + mouse + wifi adapter + cooling mount. Was super scuffed, but worked like a charm :)

I play on a laptop with an external monitor. Choose wisely, because you can connect it with HDMI or DisplayPort. Both have different versions with different Hz it supports. DisplayPort should be ok, but watch out for HDMI versions as 2.0 and 2.0b can have a big difference. Look at this table, Resolution is meant to be the monitor's resolution, not ingame: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Refresh_frequ.. You must check how many fps can your laptop run on which resolution, then check the HDMI/DisplayPort connectors of the laptop and the monitor if it is enough for it. For example, I have a 144Hz monitor with 1440p resolution, I have connected it with HDMI 2.0. It is green in the table above.

yooo man thanks a lot, this just blew all my doubts away, as I play on 1280*960 so it should be gucci even if I have the worst one P.S. maybe to much to ask, but the only info I managed to get about my HDMI port is that it supports 4k@30hz, I suppose it is 1.4 could u clarify that pls?
