Not exactly fair to compare the lifespan of these 2 different sports.

comparing a world cup to a major is absurd. world cup literally needs a entire country's approval and some even to actually build stadiums, and it brings in hundreds of thousands of people for more 50+ different matches.

The reason why World Cup is held every 4 years is because in the past, travelling, logistics etc. were much more difficult. Like #1 said, it's a relic of the past that's slowly being done away with.

what about champions league mens

Because Mayor does not equal World Cup. Players have certain teams for the whole year and only train with their National teams for some weeks -> having to train more weeks every year for World cup would fk with national leagues in football. Because CS:GO has no league system like traditional sports valve could basically have as many major tournaments as they want, because they own the game and every player would choose this over anything else. Makes no sense tho. There could be another big tournament instead of a second major, but valve chooses it to be so.

Fair point. I personally think Major should be once a year with a bigger group stage. Majors should be a celebration of CS so a large amount of teams should get an opportunity to compete for it. There are enough big tournaments spread throughout the year that there wont be a lull in competitive CS.
