Capasity of Maracana is 80k so why not go there?! It would be so good. 18k seats for major in Brazil is just not enough. You see how fast the tickets sold out. This is best opportunity hold the biggest csgo event ever, so why not do it? It would be great for the game.

Usually there are brasileirão (brazilian soccer league) games at maracanã on sundays. They probably won't change the soccer game date or stadium for the major.

Maybe the marketing team didn't consult the soccer teams that'll play before posting or smt like that

18k tickets were sold out almost instantly, I think they can, atleast for the playoffs. Maybe the other games should be played in that arena with 18k capasity and playoffs in bigger arena!
2022-05-26 00:13
They most certainly can. CS is treated like a sport in Brazil. They love it. Regardless it would be more then just Brazilians going to the Major. Like Tarik and others said. They could easily fill a stadium.

How? It would screw over far more people if they do not change to bigger place, thousands of people were waiting for tickets to go sale since minute 1 and still did not get them. They just need to tell the people who bought tickets to go to another arena, it is not that hard...

but think of it from the perspective of ESL and the current arena, contracts have been signed, business stuff, im no expert as u can see but im certain they wont change arena sadly
2022-05-26 00:41
those who already bought would have their seats guaranteed i suppose
2022-05-26 00:40
If they change to other place and stay in Rio is not that bad for them
2022-05-26 00:44
People who bought tickets would just get their tickets/seats transferred over to the new stadium.
2022-05-26 01:59
i don't think so, if they change venue, but continues in rio de janeiro would be cool anyway. and have plenty time to do it

I would imagine they have already paid and cannot back out without losing some money. Just a guess, but I reckon it's more complicated than just the time left if they've already sold tickets.

bruh, esl was bought by investment fund of saudi arabia gov, u really think paying rent of 150~300k usd would be a problem for these richest people? just imagine how many people they can reach, if they increase from 18k slots to 40k for example, would be really dope, and its cleary, many brazilians are interested to go to this major, tickets just gone in 60min, if they change stadium, i'll travel 2500km to watch that shit.

But they didn't get rich by throwing their money down the toilet :) investment firms don't care about how many people are at a csgo major, they care about money. I suspect most of the money is not coming from ticket sales to be honest. It would be awesome for it to be a massive full stadium but it's a bigger risk for the organiser to commit to that and almost certainly too late to change now. Maybe I will be surprised and that will be great :)

of course they didn't get rich throwing money in toilet, they got rich because of petroil, but "savyy gaming group" (that acquired ESL and FACEIT) are investing lot of money on it, to expand visibility of it even more, and like u said, the ticket sales will be irrelevant, but all news sharing that an ESL event break the record of people attending, just imagine how lucrative it would become, others investors/companies would jump on same idea. i hope to be surprised too.
2022-05-26 07:25
Hopefully they change to the stadium. Would be nuts. They can certainly fill the stadium as well.

it's incredible the lack of vision and intelligence of these organizers, the Maracanã stadium would still be little for the fans and the guys rent a tiny space, stupidity and lack of competence have a limit, how abominable, the world CS loses with these incompetent responsible for such acts...
2022-05-26 02:05
i think only arena da baixada can afford csgo event because they have cover, the others are just open so if like rains or something its fucked
2022-05-26 02:14
They underestimated Brazilians. Let's hope all goes well at this event and maybe ESL will hold another Major in Brazil, in 2023 and in an appropriate location...Arena in Curitiba or Alianz Park.
2022-05-26 02:22
is to late do change city, rio have 3 places to make a major, jeunesse arena is like the european/eua majors but is brazil 18k is so small to us, Engenhão is the stadium of Botafogo, they play the last match of Brasileirão (Football Championship) 9/11/2022, Fluminense at Maracana in the same day and Flamengo play they last match in Maracana at 13/11/2022 (Final Match Major) the only way the major happens in Maracana is Flamengo change their match for Mané Garrincha ( Brasilia Stadium), is too late to change the city, Allianz Arena in Sao Paulo dont have covers but they make it 100% sure, the only Stadium in Brazil who have this covers is Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, is like 850 km or half day travel car, the only way for real for major happens in Maracana is pray to Flamengo change their match to Brasilia and Fluminense play their match on Vasco field, is 4real the only way.
