Its actually proven that people are more likely to talk about things they dislike then like. Just like how 10 great things can happen to you in a day then 1 bad then and you can focus on is the bad thing.
So i would bet its more likely for people who dislike the game to leave it a bad review.
Not to mention it had 40k+ bad reviews before it even came out.

The ascend/descend is among the best this series has to offer imo, but I feel like asking the way the writers didn't know anymore who they want ppl to root for which made some scenes really gruesome to play.

Imo TLOU is about Joel and Ellie. Not about a random woman with steroids killing Joel with a baseball bat early on to then play with her. The talk about revenge and not avenging is ridiculous too, Ellie killed 30 thousand people then doesn't kill the person that killed Joel just bcz wants to close the cycle, but then what about the 30 thousand people she killed? TLOU2 turned out as a game that wanted to look deep but didn't at all (IMO).

I don't know why so many people treat this game as "the wondrous adventures of Joel and Ellie".
The title is vague and can mean anything from the last of the two in the first game to literally the last people on earth.
I think the enlightenment how wrong her revenge rampage is should have come earlier, despite Abby having tortured Joel to begin with especially with her giving Joel so much spite for "robbing her life of purpose".
It could have been an excellent game with some kind of reconciliation between Abby and Ellie (when she sees her hanging from the pillar)

that's my biggest criticism about the game. She killed a pregnant woman but oh no I cant kill the person that killed joel because that's one kill too far.

Absolutely. And I feel she gets so much hate (I bet the cut-set with star wars 'fans' is enormous) because she was built so non-female-like. At least a lot of the rants I saw where focusing on that aspect.
My guess: they so badly want to relate to their white all-American (Anti-) hero and his baby doll. I bet they hated Ellie being not only gay but also not having a very feminine stature.

imo they should have restructured the story so that you would play abby's parts first, so that you get to know her and like her, and want revenge only for that part to culminate in the "golf scene". when they started with that part it only made people dislike abby from the beginning you started playing as her, idk

They should have just made her kill Joel, without the torture and everything would be fine.
Ellie is a broken person even before she has to watch him die, since she is torn from guilt and all. Also ptsd as fuck. So I kinda "liked" that she acted all rampage-y while they tried to make Abby the good(er) person in the story.

MEntion to me another horror game with so high standard values when it comes to story telling, voice acting and directing. Add to that the over the top qualities in graphics and sound design and soundtrack etc and theres no competition.
Waiting to mention me whos close to that offering all that on such high level as a whole. I repeat, as a whole so you wont come here to mention me a single game that excels in a single thing like more scary or better story alone etc. Waiting

I actually got 0 horror elements in the game apart from the fact it's zombies.. the game was great, ambience, atmosphere, sound quality 10/10. story was a bit meh and filled with plot holes, and the voice actors carried it hard. Gameplay was also decent just like the first game.. but horror??? Dead Space 1 is horror, even Alan Wake i felt more "stressed" than TLOU2.. or certain moments in Resident Evil games. TLOU2 did nothing in horror for me.. so many better games for that niche.

No one was bitching about part 1 when Ellie and that other girl whatever her name was kissed , cuz it atleast felt somewhat natural and not forced into the story which isnt the case for part 2 . U barely start the game and Ellie talks about bigots and their bigoted sandwiches and other BS , not to mention the roided tranny in a post-apocalyptic world .
Story was total garbage and deep down you know it too .

"Solid" in my book means above average and not so many flaws while 9.5 on a 10 scale is nearly perfect...
The "bigot sandwich" makes total sense since this other guy clearly is portrayed as homophobic. Which also kinda made sense given he's an old man. Did they need to have this? Maybe not but it cements the idea that Ellie is into girls without herself even really knowing (remember the dance with Dina?)
The story was okay-ish, it just needed a real redemption arc and not just a blind killing spree.
Then again the world is built up as extremely bleak in part 1 and so I kinda can get along with everything going to shit when a broken person meets other broken persons.
But you're obv so concerned about there being some "woke" elements - believe me, you won't like the future - that you aren't capable to think outside of your average the hero gets the girl story.

Woke movies/corporations are losing milions for this because audience doesnt stand for it . The state of movie/game industry is in decline and there is a reason for it and forced wokeness/lgbt agenda is one of the main causes for it .
I can personally just watch/play old stuff if its good , can live without the new garbage without problem .

Idk any numbers, but I think its a transition time. If you think about who was mostly playing video games in the past, you might come to the conclusion that there are so much more target groups out there. I think big companies have discovered that as well.

You are right, mostly everyone picks up a game now and then, and movies, obviously as well. That doesn't mean they have to FORCE LGBTQ+ elements into the game without it making too much sense. I have a discord channel with mostly people from the community, and they also hate the way it was force-fed in LGTBQ+. if they actually wanted to make it a natural part of the story, then me and them would be all for it, but like most forced "woke" stuff, they failed hard.

I think rather than just hate it, consider it as a start.
In the 90ies romcoms it was the gay guy who was crammed into them. Nowdays there are more subtle integrations. Things take time, but hating kinda feels easy.

Well, my friends, who A LOT are from the LGBTQ+ community DO hate TLOU2, but watch drag queen reality shows and such,, i agree it takes time, and i can't wait when integrating a LGBTQ+ person is the same as just having a normal CIS person, seamless and no impact on the whole, not like TLOU2 where the entire point was to introduce that and that was.. kinda it..

The rants actually DON'T even do justice to what a fucking piece of trash that ''game'' is.
Not a game. An agenda with some ''gameplay'' thrown in so it can be called one and not a movie. Not meant to be played, made to send subtle messages and provoke emotion. A one-and-done deal for the most socially dependent people that don't actually like games, they just want an emotional story and to feel included in yet another social circle.
Same goes for the first one, although admittedly it was hard carried by good characters. The second doesn't even have that.

good game, amazing graphics and story.
It's just a letdown. It's been awhile since I played either game but TLOU1 was one of the best games on ps3 and tlou2 I honestly barely remember.
It's quite sad really.
direction of the game was terrible, killed joel and forced you to play the villian and didn't get a satisfying ending, no idea what they were thinking. Another case of trying too hard.

they made you play a character that you didn't care about as they were new in a SEQUEL on top of someone you dislike cuz they killed the previous main character... i've never felt like that playing any other game because it doesn't happen like this. So i am not sure what you mean, I had 0 idea why people hated the game, i played it as soon as it came out. I went to see if anyone else thought the same shortly after joel's death and i saw dislikes everywhere + because of the initial reasons why i also disliked it people started throwing in their twisted reasons why because some nerds had no life because the game meant so much to them originally. Then the ending was so unsatisfying like wtf man. It's still a good game but the story wasn't the best.

You also have to understand that part 1 is probably one of the GOAT games out there, it was like a movie, the music, the acting and the writing and trying to up that with the sequel was a let down for mostly everyone.
I might be an exception, but enjoyed the Abby part. I really liked seeing a more organized life in the aftermath instead of that loner thing of the first installement of the series (and also Ellie's township in the second). I think they did a great job in that. Also I liked the shift of who is portrayed good and who is bad.
I would have loved if they hadn't gone for the torture stuff, but then again were in a time after civilization ended. It's not expected from ppl to behave like being bound by laws or whatnot. Abby swore revenge and being in the bigger group she enforced it. It was somewhat plausible to me.
There were some major flaws tho.but rarely do I see them pop up in critics. Most people are like: uh trans, uh left propaganda...
And yeah, the ending was garbage but not for Ellie being alone - I think that is what she had coming.
She should have had a real redemption arc and be the one to break the cycle of violence

First of all, at least my "pseudo intellectual crap" comes along without insults.
Second, I'm not an angry kid (anymore) that is throwing a tantrum when it doesn't get the yellow shovel.
Third, I don't care about being special. I try to have an open mind about things.
Fourth, I'm actually all about logic and get thrown off very easily in series, movies, games when small things are off that don't for the universe were in, etc. As I said, plenty of stuff wrong with TLOA1 and 2.

story was alright, could've been way better. felt like they just wanted put their focus on Abby and ditched Joel and Ellie. some of the characters existed just to fill the gap. and so many flashbacks wasnt great either
Joel's death was really anti climactic but the main idea behind story was decent, maybe not the repetitive revenge part. didnt like how the game ended but didnt hate it either
graphics was really great, gameplay was nice too. overall a decent game but not great like the last one
also the fact that it was sequel of the first one and how good the first one was, TLOU2 was very underwhelming

I liked that Joel didn't get the hero finale. It fits the world very well.
I also liked that some seemingly stranger offed him in the beginning. I wanted to really know who and why afterwards.

i haven't played either. i did watch a complete walkthrough of the first one and a few reviews of the 2nd one. i think games like these are 90% about the story. gameplay is kinda boring imo, it's another resident evil or w.e. - stealthy with limited resources. the game is completely linear so no replayability either. people would mention graphics but as far as im concerned it's a plus but not something to consider in and of itself. all said and done, the story is a make or break.
the first one had a wholesome story that's why people loved it. it's a drama with good ending. you could say that the central idea behind the game is the trolly problem, but they didn't get out of their way to introduce it. it's integrated in the story naturally.
from what i've seen of the 2nd one it wants to make you feel shit for the sake of feeling shit. if you are a masochist mb that's a good thing. they went out of their way to make it all about revenge, at times forgoing consistency or character development. the most annoying part for me was when the game just came out how the professional critics were pretending it's a revolutionary trope. revenge? really??? not like it's been done countless times before.
so yeah, in the end you play a game that has mediocre gameplay which forces you to feel like shit in order to send some "profound" message. damn, i wonder why ppl didn't like it.
