80s, yes. 2000s? Not really. 90s music was trash in general. It was grunge and alternative. Garbage like Stained and what not came out in 90s/2000s. Best thing to come out of the 90s was Lamb of God. That's pretty much it.

I saw In Flames last month, they only had a 35 min set though and didn't play anything from Clayman. Assuming they're headlining their festival day I would think they play some songs from it with a longer set time but its unlikely. Either way they're still a great band and should be a good time

If you want to get into more tech stuff I would recommend Onset of Putrefaction. Advanced Corpse Tumor is just one of those songs you don't forget in a lifetime. If you're looking for more groovy shit, then take a bite out of The Way of All Flesh.

You're missing point. They were a big, sponsored rock band. "honest" in music is something else. At least for me it means having integrity. Nirvana sure did not play only the show they would have considered cool, etc
2022-06-22 20:40

Nirvana toured 7 years in a small bus without any income. And they destroyed their things in this time already cuz that was sth Cobain loved to do. So when you say they were big sponsored and they did it... then check your facts before you start to talk shit. They just don't change, that is honest as fuck
2022-06-22 22:00

What has the fact that they started out as a small band to do with anything? For the Nevermind Recording session the band got 300k from their label upfront. Back then that's an insane amount of money to produce an album. It sold like crazy, they were on international TV shows all over the world, toured with sonic youth and the Ramones, etc. If this isn't a big Rock band I don't know where you draw the line. Plus, Nirvana was never meant (planned) to stay a small indie band. Already for their first demo they hired a producer. Also sub pop as a first label is more than a lot of bands will ever reach and to be opener on a 40+ day tour through Europe for a bigger sub pop band at this stage they were in, is just like winning a lottery ticket. They skyrocketed from there. I think I have my facts straight.
2022-06-22 22:13
2 replies
Before the album was recorded nobody thought Nirvana would become that BIG. They got this money because they had offers from different labels. For example, Linkin Park was happy to get just 1 offer from a label. And Cobain said he thought they would sell maybe 100k. he never wanted to be that famous. And subpop wasn't great producing... they were the only label in Seattle that is all. 500$ for a "record" is a fair price at this time. I think your facts are wrong cuz you think they had any free success before Nevermind... Kurt practcied 7 days in a week the whole time. or dou think you can compose such songs cuz you are just talented??
2022-06-22 22:18
1 reply
Youre really not really listening to what I say. First of all: literally thousands of bands practice and diy tour like crazy for years - that's nothing special Nirvana did and while kurt was a quite good player eventually, there are millions who are better. Secondly, without some kind of Jumpstart you rarely have a chance to ever leave this level tho. Plus, you most likely need to "kinda cater" your music to people. Make it more accessible for the masses. Often this means using well-known structures, certain chords order and stuff like that. And that's why bands often use producers to have help with those things. Usually you have a very narrow view onto your own music within the band. Not very objective for obvious reasons. Or you deliberately chose to ignore accessibility and do whatever the fuck you want no matter how it perceived by the audience. Just listen to bleach and Nevermind back to back how they got more accessible. I bet my right hand, that this is in parts the work of their producer. And in case you think I don't know what I'm talking about. I play in different bands for about 20 years now and I won't ever write something because I think it will please the listeners but I sure had my fair share of discussions with band members and recording studio guys alike about bringing in a producer and such...

It depends a LOT on what hiphop songs you listen to, and what you classify as "musical" layers. There's a LOT of layers to music, and there's a LOT of hiphop artists. Damn sure this has an insane melody, and one of the most streamed rap songs: youtube.com/watch?v=0EnRK5YvBwU

hmm yea maybe i would need to listen to more less known rap songs cause usually the most popular ones arent representative of the absolute best of the genre. The one you sent sounds pleasant, definitely more of my type than an average popular newschool rap/trap, although of course its a very very broad term. I would rather look at it from a vibe perspective, so the more high the vibe is, the better the genre overall is (speaking as objectively as possible but its still very subjective). Im a house guy though. Most of the rap songs have a lot of anger and other negative states in them. And also id say still they are less focused on "music" and more on lyrics and ESPECIALLY personality, cause people listening to rap very often succumb to the personality of the artist and the product (track/song) is often less important and in itself often quite average.

Agreed to a lot of things that you state, but it's a matter of delving deep into the genre. I've done quite a LOT of digging, and at some point you find out which artists are to your liking or not. A lot of hip-hop rap is angry and stuff, but there's a LOT of it which cover real topics and have nice music and topics. If you want to, I could list them, but I 100% understand if you don't feel like that coming from a random guy on HLTV, haha

Recently I've been listening to a lot of hardcore but metalcore and other metal subgenres are probably my favorite genres. Might not be the best for everyone since there really isn't an objectively best genre of music.

metal, it's so wide-ranging that everyone will find a genre or at least a few bands enjoyable, either that or hip-hop, easy to listen to and relatively diverse
