because no one wanted to buy a fluke t2 team for anything over 100k

No one was willing to buy for 500k so they slowly decreased the price step by step.

i think their contracts were ending soon thats why nobody bought the roster and would rather just wait for contracts to end and get them for free

The money for the deal is just paid to compensate for time of each players contracts. Idk when their contracts ended but lets say it would have been 3 months. Would you rather pay 160k or take the risk and wait 3 months to get them for free?

i think dignitas could have tried to buy the cph flames roster. I mean after they put their roster on the bench and before they stepped back from csgo they wanted to get a roster that will compete for titles. 160k would have been good a deal i guess

That's pretty crazy number for a whole team. I could have imagined they went down to like 250~300K or so but 160K and still no purchase ouch

+1 considering that degster buyout is 300k i think nicoodoz alone could have reached 150-200k in buyout if he had 1 year of contract left, same with jabbi

i know absolutely nothing about the financials of esports teams, but just a friendly reminder that most owners are actually morons or like average iq at best. they just have a lot of money

2022-06-26 18:45
you dont know the other details. maybe some orgs were interested but were not willing to pay the salaries the players asked for. its not just a transfer fee you pay, its also big salaries

i imagine your wage budget has a bit more room when you buy the whole roster for 160k. you're still right though, we do not know all the details, but this still sounds insane from what we know.

Yeah I agree its still a steal but there has to be something going on that no one is picking these guys up for that price
2022-06-26 22:24
why would you, the deal was that you need to buy the entire roster not parts. that team wasnt going to get any better as a whole.

getting a top10 team for that amount is waaay the fuck cheaper than what orgs like dignitas or Mad lions payed for their trainwreck rosters, not to mention eG and coL. You know you don't have to be top1 for a roster to be "worth it" right?

they did nothing they were tier 3/2 at best not top10

"tHeY diD nOtHiNg" went far in the last 2 majors went to the GF in 5 tier2 tourneys, they have been top10-15 this entire year and you claim they're tier3? lmfao waaay the fk better than lulnatic as well

yeah you should consider looking at their event history..... cant even win t2 tournaments consistently. fluked at the major. Hooxi is nowhere near t1 and will never be

"cant even win t2 events consistently" name a team that can lmfao. Fluked? then why did they do well at every t1 event they attended lmfao, they went far in 2 majors in a row. At least he's better than jw or that british guy whos name i fking forgot leading failnatic now
2022-06-26 20:06
T2 tournaments have some top 10 teams on them, winning them are not ez, they showed enough to be considered tier1.
2022-06-26 20:11

depends on the definition on t1. i'd say they were a top 20 team at best

not saying t2 is bad. but t2 orgs aint paying for that roster and t1 orgs wont throw away their entire roster for cphf. only team i couldve seen do it was col or eg
2022-06-26 20:39
Why at best? Tell me 20 teams better than them. Ofc they are not TierS (Navi, Faze or Cloud9), but they can totally put a fight against Tier 1 Ence, Vitality, G2, Furia, NIP, Heroic or Spirit that are the rest of Top 10 getting like 50% chances to win any game against them. And they would totally win more than 50% against the rest of Top 20 (Big, Astralis, OG, Liquid, Imperial, Outsiders, Mouz, Movistar Riders, Finest or MIBR) They had no team to win a Tier 1 event, but that doesn't mean they are not Tier 1 team, someone buying the entire roster and then doing some adjustments like giving them better facilities/preparation/analysts could give a little boost and then see if they should change X player or something would be another extra push to try to get inside top3.
2022-06-26 20:52
top 8 at a major should do the trick

2022-06-27 00:54
Perhaps their contracts were running out, so someone tried to make a steal
2022-06-26 18:33
Because they suck lol Only ever did anything at the major, had limited results in tier 2

they literally had one of best communication in csgo , they can do some good runs at tier 1 events tbh , not sure about tier 2
2022-06-26 18:37
they were always around top 10. Thats not ''suck'' lol
2022-06-26 18:44
there's no more flashpoint, epl is full, what's the point of entering cs:go at the current moment? and most of t1 teams aren't that catastrophic to kick all 5 and buy a new roster. the only team who could've benefited from it was probably eg, but we all know how their management works (or should i say doesn't work). so i guess selling them 1 by 1 was the optimal decision

160k would've been the steal of the century. Honestly I might have considered buying that if I would've known, lol. That sounds like great business (admittedly without having really looked into the numbers).

Problem wasn't the buyout. According to what was said at the time, the players were asking for really high salaries.
