Yes they are :) You literally can’t trust anybody there, especially not if they are being „friendly“ Also the smell of urine on public transport is fkin disgusting and it’s overall very unclean and not nearly as beautiful as you would expect

No, not at all, some places smells like piss (usually means you shouldn't be there), most others don't. People visit 1% of Paris and say this dumb shit online. If it smelled liked that everywhere no rich person would live here

First of all I never said that it smells like urine everywhere, mainly just on public transport. (Which rich people don’t use) The hotels and tourist attractions like louvre were obviously clean. Also it was a fact for me that I couldn’t walk anywhere in the city center without having „scam artist“ approaching me. And for your information I live in a City with 350k other people ;) I also visited capitals like London, Berlin and Rome and it was never as bad as Paris. And I’m not the only one seeing it that way: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_syndrome

Tourist are scammed everywhere. When I went to Rome everybody tried to ask for extra price when they had the price on the f*cking wall in italian and it was like "bru you have the price there" and they were "oh yeah excusa excusa..."

Three major downsides tho: it smells like pee and poop all over the street (idk why french pee in the street??) ppl dont seem to wash either?? and last but not least, 99% of restaurant on main streets are tourist traps, can be avoided if u do some research first though!

Paris specifically has had a history of being extremely filthy and dirty. In my middle school history class we watched a documentary called filthy cities: paris and it was mind boggling. The filth and unhygienic culture probably stayed.
2022-06-27 09:09
Yes, there is beautiful things in paris but the underground i a toilet basically, RER same. For the restaurants it's like in all cuntries; with now google... you can avoid those. btw, i do not live in paris, i live near geneva but french side (Ville la Grand)

Yo le noob, French side of Geneva is a shithole, nothing to see, nothing much to do either, it's just a living place for french people who work shitty 9-to-5s in switzerland. The good part is Geneva itself, and if you can't afford it it's easy to find cheaper across the Léman Lake (Lausanne...) with great train services to Genève. If you do decide to visit the French part please avoid Annemasse, it's for your own safety :D As a side note, if I were you I would rent a car and roadtrip accross Switzerland because what makes the country special is its landscapes. The unmissable things to do are to hike in the Valais mountains, visit Zermatt and Lucerne, go to the southern lakes (Lago di Como, Lago Maggiore), and just enjoy going on top of the Passes to have insane views on the mountains (don't take the tunnels unless you have to)...

I ve always said Paris is a great place to visit but horrible to live in. People are stressed AF and you get annoyed a lot of times on the streets. That being said, it s like any big capital, yah it s expensive if you go to tourist traps but a lot of European capitals are overpriced nowdays...it s still cheaper than London for example. Finally, as a tourist, it s your duty to do some research and a lot of info is easily available online. I see too many people booking hotels in shit neighbourhoods and think the whole of Paris is like that. Like every capital, there s good and bad but go visit Paris either in the spring or in August, it s brilliant. (Specially august, it s empty).

Depends where you go, if you go to tourist areas and north, yes. If you go on the west side of Paris, no. We do pee in the street during the night (because after 11:00 50% of the people in the street is drunk). We do have massive changements coming with the olympics, like A LOT. + Living in the most expensive side of paris, we have police doing surveillance missions a lot more (asking for drunk people to gtfo of the street for example). fun fact: A guy one day just took a dump if front of my door.
2022-06-27 09:37
Yup and I can confirm the main street restaurants thing. It's obviously not 99% but there are so many "brasseries" that promotes French cuisine for very high prices but it's just frozen products and they make huge margin out of it.
2022-06-27 12:53
4 replies
Yo le noob, That is just not true, the immense majority of the Brasserie do their shit themselves, idk in which scamhole you have been to find frozen stuff. It's true that the menus don't vary much from one place to the other, but it's the while point and essence of the parisian Brasserie.

LOOL American talking about homeless while all your big cities have thousands of them literally dying in the streets (hello LA, hello SF, hello every major city in your retarted country). Also talking about racism? Seriously? You're the most racist people on hearth. You couldnt even marry a white person or go to a white school 60 years ago in your shithole country and you're still shooting people based on their skin color on a regular basis. Also half of your country are still racist pigs that want to go back to segregation so stfu. Dont talk ignorant burger.

Here's a stat: 26% of French say living with people of different skin colors makes their home a better place to live, for Americans it's 58%, more than all of racist EU. 3. is it realy a big deal, that people don't help foreigners because foreigners didn't learn greetings in people's native language? i mean, it is realy easy to learn greetings but that shouldn't be a problem when a person starts speaking with someone in english as it's international language. Literaly international language meant to unite humanity, their culture, problem solving... while this egoistic custom is a step backwards

Yeah very sad. All due to a lack of affordable housing because home owners far away from the homeless in downtown want to keep their home prices high. I enjoy the views and architecture too but it's dampened a lot. All homeless come here because they don't freeze to death at night.

I agree, it's just very hard. A lot of problems with a lot of pushback from a lot of stupid or selfish people need to be fixed. 1. Build a shit ton of affordable public housing and normal housing, to the tune of 8000 and more units by reforming zoning laws at the state level. 2. Build mental health facilities for the super crazy people. 3. Crack down harder on drug dealers and have better drug recovery programs

I live in Paris and love it. People just go to Eiffel tower and get scammed then hate the whole city. Its one of the most beautiful city in the world, only a few italian cities come close of what Paris has. Most people are dumb tourists that only going to dumb tourist places in the most touristic city in the world thats their fault. There are hundreds of incredible things to do in this city and none of them are near Champs élysées or Eiffel tower.

2022-06-27 11:58
Paris is lovely. You just have to avoid all the touristy spots/bars/restaurants
2022-06-27 12:13
mostly ppl just get their opinion about what they see on the internet about paris "rude people, dirty streets immigrants blabla" but 99% are ignorant about the city, and 1% only visit the eiffel tower and other overrated places so literally they have 0 IQ, you'll meet 0 french people under the eiffel tower, only tourists just like the rest of the overrated places that everyone are visiting but yeah actually you need to visit places with less tourists and its wonderful, tho its overpriced so i don't recommend, south of france is better. In reality only rich french ppl are living in Paris and fact, is that Paris has like 15x more tourists than actual inhabitant

Exactly, people run in circles between la Tour eiffel and les Champs-Elysée and wonder why no ones think it's overrated. They never go to Montmartre, Jardin du Luxembourg etc But there is a huge disparity of rich and poor people (atleast in the north and east) in Paris because of social housing, some people pay close to nothing in rent while if you don't qualify for social housing you pay bogus amounts of money for rent
2022-06-27 13:28
depends what you do and where you live in Paris, I enjoyed it when I was there

Pee in the street and urine odor -) Personally living in a very wealthy arrondissement I never come accross those things but I guess yeah some places do smell like piss but making it a generality is mind baffling to me, even with metro lines only ones that go to sketchy places have that odor, and again if you go to somewhere like Châtelet-Les-Halles obviously it's not gonna smell good, it's where everyone gets drunk as shit and where people from the suburbs of Paris come. Never have I walked across the 1, 2, 3 , 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 16, arrondissement and smelled any piss or seen anyone poop on the street. Expensive -) Yeah I guess if you're broke or come from a part of the world where everything is cheap sure but as someone who's been to London and other major cities the prices are on par and sometime less expensive. Rude people -) That one I genuinely don't understand, we are indeed busy but I've rarely seen a FRENCH person (and I insist french) be rude to some foreigners just out of boredom. I've had friends from the UK and other countries come here and everytime they had a blast and said people were nice even when I wasn't with them. At the end of the day I think it's mostly people wanting to act edgy and see internet stereotypes "Omg look at me I don't like Paris I think it's shit you shouldn't believe that it's beautiful" but every real life person I know that went to Paris has enjoyed every second of it except for some unfortunate event like not being careful in a sketchy place in the north etc There are many dreamy places, hence the reason I ususally recommend people who visit paris to actually go with a tour guide because it can get confusing and if you don't know what the fuck you're doing you're gonna end up walking around the Tour Eiffel and think "omg so overrated" while only seeing 1% of what Paris has to offer

this What people don't seem to understand is that Parisians avoid the Eiffel Tower and other places like it. Like when I go there, I'm the foreigner, it's just tourists speaking their language, feel like an npc in someone's dream

EU is pretty overrated especially Paris
2022-06-27 13:31
Eiffel tower Old style buildings which is unique and attractive Tourists with extremism thoughts which is the main reason
2022-06-27 14:07
Most people have this specific picture from movies in their head. If you actually visit the city you can clearly see the impact of mass migration. Furthermore, there are burning streets and the city is really dirty.

+1 Summed it up perfectly
2022-06-27 14:58
Thats exactly what im saying on my reply, people don't know anything about Paris because the only thing they saw is on the internet. If you visit shit places, you'll meet the wrong people, either migrants or tourists, like i've said Paris has 15x more tourists than inhabitants. If you visit great places like Montmartre, Belleville, Luxembourg Garden, Le Marais and so many other things, you'll have literally no migrants (also this migrant thing is pretty much BS) and oh god thanks, way less tourists Try these instead of going to the eiffel tower like a braindead tourist, you'll see

+1 Paris syndrome in a nutshell
2022-06-27 17:40
People outside EU think it's some amazing capital being one of the nicest and best cities in the world bla bla bla but in reality anyone with above 70iq knows it's a filthy dirty shithole destroyed by mass immigration. But I'm not gonna lie Europe itself is pretty damn overrated. And that's ofc because 90% of people only know stupid ass stereotypes and are pretty uneducated when it comes to cultures, base everything off of mainstream entertainment and stuff they heard as kids.

It is not all bad, there is actually some neat places to visits and lots of choice for great food and more. But it is a HUGE city, not everywhere is nice or even interesting. One main thing though - the huge cities of Europe are best avoided during the summer. To hot, to many tourists - instead going there in spring or fall is much better. And same is really true about anywhere south of Berlin during late June/July/early August unless you really like it hot.

Yes I totally agree with you, forgot to mention that obviously all of Paris isn't like that, but it's nothing like the stereotype that people outside EU make it out to be like. To lot of ppl it comes as a big shock when people say things like this about Paris, being filthy etc. And with the latter part I 100% agree.
2022-06-27 16:26
not wrong tbh
2022-06-27 18:19
I think that in its time it was a model capital 100 years ago because of its architecture, some Latin American cities have french buildings. especially the capitals imitated french architecture

I don't hate Paris, but it's overrated as fuck. Probably also why it's overpriced.
2022-06-27 18:21
I have yet to go to any city with a population of 10+ million people that doesn't have at least somewhat of a cleanliness issue. I've been to most major capitals in western Europe and a lot of American cities. Seems like an expectations problem. There is a ton of beautiful spots in Paris.
2022-06-27 18:37
I don't XD I've never been to Paris so i want to be there first time.I was almost in all French important cities but only Paris left me...
