Ah, that's fair. My dads favourite is Two Towers because when he saw it in theatre the ending of the movie had the Nazgul flying over mordor on loop until you left the room basically. He said hes never been more excited for a movie then after the ending of Two Towers. I never watched them in theatres (too young) But ive read the books and seen the movies like 10+ times

One of the best battle scenes is at Helms Deep imo so can see why that's his favourite. All 3 movies have things to make it your favourite :D I think I was only able to see the 3rd movie in cinema, as with the others I was also a little too young. Same here, seen and read it plenty of times. I'm also collecting all Tolkiens work, nearly there at this point!

Shutter Island was HUGE, Seven was incredible, even the first SAW was so crazy when the dude just stood up in the end and left the basement. Don’t wanna mention series because there‘s quite too much I’d like to rewatch without any info.

Subjecticve but the judging criteria for me is a film (or a game or any thing) being better in every aspect which gives it a credibility. Now Kill Bill is a film that I see having no downside whatsoever in any aspect, be it the story, the cast and acting, the soundtrack, dialouge, cinematography or whatever! Good combination of action, mystery, monolouges. A beautiful revenge story with a happy ending and Tarantino's best work! Worth noting is I am considering both Volume 1 and 2 as 1 film, as it was initially considered

Inception is overrated, the central concept of Inception was already executed better by the Matrix so it felt too unoriginal and uninventive to me. The ending is hella predictable also. But tbh I just don't like Nolan's style subjectively, feels so clinical even when its trying hard to have emotion Pulp Fiction is masterpiece no questions here Se7en same thing as Inception the ending 'twist' felt really cheap and unspectacular, and not as unsettling as the much better buildup before John's reveal/turns himself in + Brad Pitt's acting is pretty bad here. Didn't like Kevin's acting either, trying too hard Fight Club massively overrated because cool aesthetics, cinematography and guys like the idea of the movie + actually good plot twist. Actually its pretty good film but not in the way so many young men appreciate it, its much more critical of masculinity and individuals than it is of society btw the author of the book is actually gay if that changes how you understand the film and Durden and Norton's relationship Departed just not as good, very forgettable compared to Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Drvier, Raging Bull. Film is stretched out way too long, too much hammy symbolism, overrated

Inception is a masterpice done to perfection the ending is not a twist are you an idiot it's suposse to symbolise that Cobb doesn't care weather he's in reality or a dream. Inception is nothing like The Matrix it's the most original movie ever. Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece we can agree to that. Se7en is one of the best acted movies ever. Se7en has the best script of all time and the twist ending is done the perfection to say the least. The ending has the best build up to any climax in any movie. Fight Club what is wrong with critisicm of toxic masculinity. Fight Club is awesome in any way you look at it. Why would it change my view on the best relationship of all time that the writer is gay, you're saying that every gay person in the world can only write about other gay people. Departed is the memorable of all Scorscese's movies Leonardo shinies as never before. Jack Nicholsen is the craziest villian only equal with Joker in The Dark Knight and John Doe in Se7en. Departed has the most memoranle ending of all time and some of the best acting ever. Btw what is your favorite movies.

Inception is very much a spiritual clone of Matrix you fool watch it again. Ending is a twist to bait viewers, its not a shocking twist but its still a twist. In film a twist is when a plotline is subverted in an untelegraphed direction e.g. a character is going on a road with a left and right turn, neither left or right turn is a twist if instead the road gets suddenly nuked by the Americans thats a twist. Its very similar to Matrix come on bro. What do you think the themes of the film are Se7en nah the acting is overrated, its too overacted. Tbh the best actor in this film is Morgan Freeman by far, Spacey and Pitt are trying too hard to play characters Yes Fight Club is good. I never said your criticism is wrong but rather that it gets alot of praise for an interpretation neither the author nor the director intended some people like it because they espouse the main character's philosophies instead of realising he's being mocked the entire film Departed is a shit tbh. It's not bad but how can it be compared to Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, even The Irishman or Silence For me my favorites are from 2000s onwards No Country for Old Men, City of God, Mad Max: Fury Road, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Oldboy, Inglourious Basterds, 12 Years a Slave, Linklater's Before movie sequels, Moonlight, Parasite. From 20th century there are too many GOAT films but if I have to pick 5 only I say 2001: A Space Odyssey, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Metropolis, Seven Samurai and La Dolce Vita

Hmm I feel lik Wes Andersons' style of storytelling is fit for GOAT conversation, or atleast honorable mentions, because he takes the same medium but creates really really enjoyable films in a totally different way. I have weak spot for FMJ I don't know why I'd also include some Tarkovsky but he's russian and russian = evil in cold war 2 period )

His style is a GOAT style, very definitive and has as big a legacy now probably as any other director in this thread but he's yet to have a lingering masterpiece. Plenty of good to great films but yet to have a permanent mainstay in film like when Tarantino made Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas for Scorsese
