Not long until it starts. What player or players do you want your NHL team to draft? I hope Flyers pick Lucas Edmonds and Joakim Kemell.

I am interested but this is hltv do you expect people to be that serious?
2022-07-06 21:44
1 reply
Well, i expect people that like NHL or hockey in general to join and share what player or players they want a certain team to draft. Also, its interesting to hear about talents from X country that i never heard about before. Like #13 with Slafkovsky. If someone feel the need to not be serious or troll just join another thread that is a troll thread instead.

I'm interested, what is going to happen with those russian talents. What if some team pick a russian player and he move to states and like 1 month later kreml force him come back to russia for military service? I mean possibilities to lost good pick number

Well. I think we will see less Russian and Belarusian players getting picked this year tbh. Just look what Russia did to Finnish born Russian Ivan Fedotov. Injected some unknown thing in his arm and never told him what it was and basically kidnapped him to some military base and now force him to do some military training thing for who knows how long. Could be years. He just signed a NHL contract as well with Flyers.

Yeah, but, he is basically f*cked if he returns to Russia in the future.

1 year. And it has nothing to do with the fact that he is finnish born.

Who cares if he is forced to do 1 year or 10 in the army, he should never have been kidnapped and injected with whatever they gave him by his own government. I never said that it was because of him being Finnish born.

That's why it was strange that you mentioned his birthplace. Didn't see anythning about injection. In other respects - no objection to your comment.

"Didn't see anythning about injection." of course you didnt. Russian media is covering that up most likely. Ivan himself have said, through his lawyer Alexei Ponomarev, that they injected some unknown substance in him. And MatchTV, the Russian federal channel have stated that he is being treated for "infection" which is complete bullshit. Imagine getting kidnapped by your own country/government and injected with something you dont know what it is because they wont say a word to you except "You avoided military service". Crazy.

Frankly, in my humble opinion, without being sentimental, of course, without insulting someone's personal opinion, which sounds different, from my point of view, but also looking at the issue from a different perspective and without condemning anyone's views and trying to objectively assess, and taking into account each opinion, I think I have nothing to say.

Yes tons of Europeans mate :) Swedish, Finnish, German, Czech, Swiss, Slovakian and more players. I have seen, but rarely, Norwegian, Ukrainan and Kazak players as well. Last draft top 3 EU countries was: Russia: 29 players Sweden: 23 players Finland: 16 players Not sure if Russians and Belarusians etc will be drafted because of the invasion, lets wait and see. Here is the 2021 draft if you want to have a look:

oh wow, i knew EU is strong at hockey, but i didnt thought there are so many young players going to nhl in early years, much more than in nba

:) Most young-isch European players go to Canada or America at the age of 17-20. It depends. You have super talents that went to NA at age 17-18 and play OHL etc. And then you have talents that instantly joins NHL, like Patrick Laine as an example. He joined NHL at the age of 18 and have now played 6 NHL seasons and is 24 years old. Some also go to college and get signed from the NCAA.

Yeah Finns, Swedes and Russians are great players. As Serbian i have connection to Russia so i was always cheering for Malkin, Ovechkin, Kucherov,... Also there is one guy, Milan Lučić, he has Canadian nationality but his parents were Serbs, so he is aswell and im cheering for him also when i watch nhl )) great sport indeed

As a habs fan, i hope they either go for Wright or Cooley. I dont feel it for Slaf. The guy is big and has a great release but doesnt really use his body like he should. He was not able to step up against stronger teams and his production is inferior to any previous top 5 drafted finnish league player. To me, he looks more like Nichushkin. Sure he is a great player and just won the cup, but it took years to develop and i wouldnt pick it at number one. Nichushkin was also projected to be drafted in the top 3 at one point. As for Wright, the only flaw people finds about him is that he didnt produced enough points. Yet if you listen to what his coach and him says is that after not playing for a year, he was placed in a position with rookies and was given more defensive roles in the team. Yet he still averaged 1.65ppg on the year of his draft which would makes him in the top 5 best player from the past 10 years, but he's considered lazy.... as for Cooley, he has a bigger offensive upside amd more speed, but the only reason he's not the true number one is his size and not as good defensively.

This situation is exactly like Puljujarvi, Matthews and Laine, everyone had a different number 1 and some thought Mathews was too defensive and would endup like a less good John Tavares while Laine would be Ovechkin number 2. Well Laine is good, but nobody is close to Matthews.
2022-07-07 00:35
I feel like there are not any franchise, big game changing players to be selected at 8th for Red Wings and I'm kinda sad. Detroit needs a center that is better than Larkin I'm afraid, and both wings need upgrades as well with Vrana and Raymond being the only we can count on so far.

Well. They might not pick a "hyped" player that goes in the first 5-10-15 picks. But, SO many legends in NHL have been picked at like 150+ etc lol, so yeah, they can still pick a solid player.

Because their #1 RW is duchene and rest right wingers are dogshit. Also, nashville has many finns, Kemell is also one of the best scorers in the draft (potentially)

Are you 12? Flyers dont need a right winger and picking him 5th instead of a center would be retarded. There's also no way Kemell would of dropped to #66, flyers' next pick.
