 |
Brazil Gaucho_10
lets put the decision making and management aside, can aomeone explain to me how they can afford to man people on their payroll? they got so many streamers, content creators, are present in all games, had like 15 players on payroll in cs alone etc. how rich are they, anyone has some data?

EG is worth $250+ million. One of the richest esports organizations.

The other 10 members of their 15 member squad wouldn't be getting paid that much, the fact those orgless rosters got an org and their facilities behind their backs is a big thing in itself.

You think that's all they've got? ffs they don't even get anything from the prize pools it all goes to the players

I mean, teams do take a cut of prize pool earnings, but EG makes money through investors and merch, not winnings.
2022-07-28 20:41
its about contracts between players and orgs, but casually its 30% for player and 70% for org from tournament earnings

It's all about contracts. Done.
2022-08-06 14:56
Yes, most of the earings do go to players and such but its still the best estimate we have. In almost all cases winnings helps the orgs grow proportionally with increased rep and sponsors and such.

No, the best estimate that we have is that EG is worth $250+ million, so 10 times your "best estimate".
2022-08-06 13:58

Well yes, for EG that is. For most other orgs we don't have such "better estimates".

arteezy is carrying EG in dota but they have big investors behind them obviously.

That's just a map, the game is warcraft, right? Why are they only playing a single map? Why not any other? Imagine only playing...let's say dust in competitive cs. It would be so boring...

Game is different lol. In Dota 2 you will be able to play different heroes but in CS you only use a few guns every game. Can't compare dude.

The EG brand is valued at $255m, who knows how much the spend annually on rosters tho.

Def more than that. Maybe like 5k
2022-08-06 03:11
It depends on the organization, it's structures, sponsors etc. There is a lot of money flowing. People who mention prize money from tournaments are naive. They just have a strong back up by rich investors.

Their League team is the best in NA I think. And League is 20x bigger than CSGO. Very rich, very very rich. I think all NA orgs like FaZe, Liquid, and 100 thieves are the richest by far due to all the rich American investors.
2022-08-06 07:16
very rich
2022-08-06 07:17
Don't know how much money they have but I guarantee they are losing money year on year.

2022-08-06 14:37
they're owned by PEAK6 but are probably burning millions of dollars a year like most esports orgs
2022-08-06 07:44
It's not like content creators and streamers don't generate revenue. You really think putting someone with Stewie's fame and reputation on a streaming/content creation role wouldn't be a smart move? He's probably the most famous NA esports player (known in CSGO and Valorant), and he's got a good personality for streaming.

Even the smaller orgs like Entropiq and Sinners are owned by very rich people. It's just a question of how much they're willing to spend on the org, and EG's owners clearly are willing.
2022-08-06 14:36
crunchbase.com/organization/evil-geniuse.. Just google it, mate. PEAK6 acquires EG. They are venture capitalists, so probably billionaires.

Advertising and investors are the two main source of revenue for all eSport orgs. Merch represents only a tiny portion of their income (less than 5% in most cases), but the profit margins are excellent for these so it's good money to take. Prize pool all goes to players, some orgs take a small cut but it's not significant. Most eSport orgs do not make any profit. They are able to keep their company going via investments -- the market knows that eSport is (likely) going to be VERY BIG one day. "When" exactly, that's unclear. But it is most likely going to happen. The goal of investors is to have their seat at the table BEFORE the seat becomes extremely hard (expensive) to grab. So, they gamble and throw in money now, hoping this money will be worth zillion times more in a few decades. Like investors who invested in tech back in the 80s/90s.

They earns tons of money from sponsors, and the recent partnership with Wolverhampton F.C prolly give them tens of millions of dollar to burn. They got lots of streamers and players, while that means there is more salary to pay, it also means more people will promote their sponsors through stream , tournaments , etc. In which they can use to make or ask more money from their sponsors.
2022-08-06 16:13
Just like other company they get money from stocks and bonds. Also from sponsors and tournament money
2022-08-06 16:18
The way esports works is VC money. Venture capitalists (or basically people with a shit ton of money and think something has potential) invest into companies in sectors they feel will grow and give them profit in the long run, so like 5-10 years plus. EG probably has a shit ton of investors like this just like Liquid and hence are able to spend all this money even though most likely they are losing money. Most orgs in esports lose money because there is a projection and hope that by 2030 there will be more people watching esports than traditional sports and they will get their money back then.
2022-08-06 16:20
all na orgs are rich af
