COL Expectations
 |
North America Camino
Young pieces with high skill ceilings, one of the best North American support rifles in floppy, and resources from a legacy CS org. I want these boys to succeed for the sake of adding depth to the professional scene in NA, but what kind of placement should be considered success? Given their age and experience, I don't think there's any reason why this roster should place outside the top 20. They should be able to compete well against domestic opposition and occasionally take maps off of top 10 teams. It's impossible to underestimate how much of a setback junior has been for the development of players like FanG and floppy, but if Hallzerk proves himself to be competent AWP player, this iteration of COL will have very few excuses for failure. Bonus meme: Between EG and COL, which is having a better offseason

hltv.org/matches/2357927/complexity-vs-g.. (Top seed for Americas RMR) Hallzerk already hitting the easy shots junior always missed and they basically smurfed against the teams they were expected to beat They'll get decimated at BLAST of course but not the worst sign for COL

Top seeded qualifier at least. Furia is the top seed overall on account of being the highest placed auto qualifier from the last major.

Disband soon hopefully

should be as good as new Liquid without junior. If oSee had stuck around, CoL would be the better team(

Idk how you can take a top 6 run at cologne and a team that hasn't won a game in months and say just cause they added an Ok awper they are gonna be on the same level.

Agreed. Liquid piece for piece is the better squad, with the possible exception of floppy as an anchor player.

Interesting to see if that was just the honeymoon period or if their level will stay that high pr improve further hope we can see a solid na contender again

I agree that it could definitely be but if you go piece by piece. IGL - Nitr0 > JT Entry - Yekindar > Grim Rifler - EliGE > Fang Awp - oSee is = or above Hallzerk Lurker/ Rifle- Naf and Floppy I would say are almost even

Yeah good point, I really want to see Osee building more confidence and them letting him take risks more would be cool to see

because JT is by far the best IGL in the americas and he succeeds when his team doesn't have an awper with no hands

It's still too early to say whether JT can properly utilize hallzerk, although I do think his T sides are among the best in the region
2022-08-18 03:55
He's played 5 games against NA tier 5 teams. He has like a 0.8 even its anything above top 30

I love Col and all the guys on the roster but they are way too young, inexperienced, and skilled enough to compete against Liquid RIGHT NOW. But I believe that they can make progress and I hope that they become a solid competitive NA team at the Tier 1 scene.

They haven't played in EU for a while so I bet the first few games are going to be shaky. Hopefully hallzerk stays consistent throughout his time on the roster. I think they're meeting up IRL for the first time in Europe. In Blast, getting to the upper or consolidation final would be a success in my book. Keeping the expectations low for a roster trying to get back on their feet. I can't speak on EG because they haven't played yet lol. ESL seriously needs to bring back NA Pro League. What is there to play for anymore? ECL is luke warm in terms of competition. Having the best teams from ECL qualify for a NA Pro League will do wonders for our team's growth. Same goes for South America.

ironic how as soon as they did -junior +hallzerk they are playing so much more solid and coherent even tho they mostly played against bots so far u can just see how they dont fuck around that much if at all and theres no 4v5 situations made by an awper who cant hit easiest shots

Tbh I’m kind of worried for col in the future because I remember hallzerk missing a decent amount of shots similar to Junior when he was playing on dig. Hopefully he fixed that though

Too early to tell still, but Hallzerk's aim looked steady in the games I watched. Would have to watch a few more games to get a feel for his positioning and gamesense, but initial impressions tell me he has junior beat in that aspect of the game

Yeah well i completely agree, junior farms on lower tier NA but struggles vs t1 meanwhile i think hallzerk could hold his own in t1 gonna wait for blast etc.

make the major, make millions and then lose all t1 games

hltv.org/stats?event=6679 Seems like the best NA team not already in RMR
2022-08-18 02:11
Idk what the expectations should be, but I imagine internally they want to make playoffs in every major event. I do think Hallzerk should improve them pretty significantly, but I’m not sure JT can get them where they need to be.
2022-08-18 02:18
If this team picked up a good EU coach and IGL they would be much better. Grim, Floppy, Fang, and Hallzerk are all good players, however, whenever they face international competition, they always are behind in the meta. Look what having access to EU/CIS strats did to Liquid. Both Elige and Osee had their best events yet at Cologne and overall, they finished 5-6th with 9 total days of practice. Bring someone like Aleksib in and listen to their every word.

Aleksi isn’t exactly caught up to the meta

It doesn't have to be Aleksi, just someone from EU who constantly scrims against top teams. There also is a shortage of good EU igls that don't have teams right now. I would trust someone like Aleksi more than an ALEX. Yekindar said that Liquid was playing with an old meta, so I cant even imagine how old a team like Complexities strats are. My main point is that if these NA teams want to stay competitive, they should start by hiring EU igls and coaches because the meta in NA is so outdated.

COL is cheaping out on players. They could’ve paid some more $$$ to get mantuu or smooya but they got another inconsistent Awper, so I don’t think they can afford a proven EU/CIS igl. Maybe a free agent is the best course of action
2022-08-18 03:42
Success is just winning games at T1 tournaments, but I am proud how determine they looked even though they were playing against bots and looked like they were taking it as decent practice time. I know none of them like to lose and must have been humiliating losing like 8 games straight. In groups success would be taking map off of Navi G2 and Liquid

Honest question, do you consider getting a spot at the major an obligation for them? Considering the changes in brazilian teams

It's obligatory. If this team fails to qualify for the major, this project has failed.

Inshallah, I hope they obliterate NA rivals just to get decimated by Europeans It’s the authentic NA CS experience
2022-08-18 14:16
I dont expect anything big from them. Hallzerk is a clear upgrade over Junior but he's not such a great awper and there are more problems in col it wasn't only junior
2022-08-18 14:17
My expectation is that they will be that they will be top 30 team, but top 20 seems like a hard task.
