what if faze wins the rio major
 |
Spain capta1n
So let's imagine FaZe wins the Major in rio in another thrilling final against NaVi. Will that make this year one of the most dominant years in CS history? In terms of trophies, the answer should be yes since 2021 only had 1 major so that would put navi's dominant year below the one of FaZe. Faze basically won all the most prestigious tournaments if you include the hypothetical Rio Major win. In terms of like in-game dominance it's probably a more nuanced story since NaVi is incredibly close and probably will be for the rest of the year. Tell me your arguments as to where it should be (or not be) in the top 3 of most dominant years.

Yeah, exactly my point, the timeframe in which they won all those prestigious tournaments is incredibly short. And the dominance is boosted by the fact that this year there are 2 majors (and last year didnt in comparison)

and that as well, but they still ended the year in a really dominant way, both in game as well as taking actual trophies so thats why these two dominant runs are really comparible Faze 2022 > Navi 2021 in terms of trophy-achievements Navi 2021 > Faze 2022 in terms of in game dominance (so far that is)

I dont think navi 2021 were better than navi 2022, the current roster without boom is significantly better, the only difference was end of 2021, nearly every team had already had plans to change their roster, so the whole scene was weak, which is why the major for navi was so easy.

yeah there is certainly some merit to what you say but winning a major (without dropping a map even) is still an incredible achievement, that will never be easy however bad the shape of the opponents might be but in this case we are always comparing apples with oranges, no-one will know who was better and we can only look at the matchups at hand which are favoring FaZe currently

oranges are better though

NAVI won 7 S tier events in 2021, FaZe so far 4. If they win Rio, you can say about better trophy-achievements, but atm - surely no

"They are commonly held by well-established organizers and are considered especially prestigious amongst the community." How is blast either of those? theyre a new org who all the players hated a year ago and are not prestigious amongst the community. The only thing that qualifies them for "S-teir" is the prize pool, but thats meaningless in cs.

sorry, but no one cares about your useless&biased opinion. BLAST is probably the most respected TO on the scene atm. Attending teams, prize pool, production level, big crowds, hype, quite a decent history ("new org" has been hosting events since 2017(18) and created an own regular S-tier circuit in 2020; 2nd biggest TO after ESL) etc make it "especially prestigious amongst the community" 0/8 cry and closed

Depends on which best you are counting Tho. The one this year wasn't a tier S event, there were top 10 teams in it but has nothing to do with it being a tier S event just like roobet was a shitty tournament even tho it had big, c9, faze between other important teams. Edit: btw this is not to have an excuse of anything, just explaining that blast event this year wasn't a tier S event, but the global finals is a tier S no doubt
2022-07-29 22:06

and where does this logic come from? I agree that roobet wasn't S tier because it had garbage organisation and overall there is no excuse to host online tournaments in 2022. But BLAST had teams, prize pool, arena with big crowd, hype and so on sry but it sounds like a coping excuse to me

Blast spring prize pool was the same as roobet. Blast's crowd wasn't big either, but you can argue it had hype. But a qualifier for a bigger event can't be seen as a Tier S event imo. And I couldn't give more shit about a tournament loss for FaZe, I only care if they win the bigger events and they won 3/3 Biggest* events of the season + EPL

> qualifier for a bigger event ????? Yes major and EPL were also just quals for a bigger event, PGL Antwerp A-tier confirmed lmao > Blast spring prize pool was the same as roobet. roobet 250k for 16 teams prize pool, BLAST Finals 425k for 8 teams. ? 6k arena, pretty decent

Oh, it was the same prize as Dallas , mb. '???? Yes major and EPL were also just quals for a bigger event, PGL Antwerp A-tier confirmed lmao" No, EPL isn't a qualifier for any event, Spring finals is a qualifier for the global finals while EPL and Major aren't directly related to Blast, is just blast's decision to make the winner of both(big events) be instantly qualified for the Global Finals instead of having to play the qualifier which is Blast spring.

Dallas also had 250k for 16 teams prize pool, and Dallas is S-tier event as well. BLAST has clearly above average prize pool even for S-tier standards. Wtf is this point? BLAST Spring Finals also isn't a qualifier stop repeating this garbage. It's the final of the ENTIRE SEASON of BLAST's yearly circuit. You collect points for ESL Pro Tour that qualifies you for either Cologne or Katowice. So all ESL events except these 2 are just some qualifiers. The entire scene consists of quals then, nice! And what if BLAST hosts the next major? Will it make it a qualifier because it will be directly related to BLAST? lol

Why are you so tilted about an organization mate? Does faze lives rent free in your head? Like, chill out. Tier S tournaments are cologne, Katowice and Major this season. Blast spring finals, IEM Dallas and EPL are tier A tournaments. Basis on this: You can't just compare a 1M prize pool, Arena for +15k people basically, and the tournaments themselves being considered the most important ones of this season by EVERYONE; with tournaments such as: Dallas, Spring Finals, and EPL, who weren't as hyped as cologne, Katowice nor the major. Is just not a comparison you can make, and you can't put those huge tournaments in the same bag as Dallas, spring and EPL bcz is just not it. This DOES NOT MEAN they are meaningless, but IT DOES MEAN that those tournaments are less important than cologne Katowice and Major. Ask anyone what trophy would they prefer: -Dallas or Cologne. - Blast or Katowice. - Major or EPL. And they will always choose the later one.

What does being less important have to do with them not being an S TIER? Stop creating imaginary things ffs. There IS an existing classification, literally everyone recognises them as S tier. Or EPL, BLAST and Dallas = RMR and some shitty pinnacle cups (which are a real A tier) in your head? Why do you feel the need to be "special"? Delusional FaZe fans who try to pretend like those events never existed maybe live there, but not FaZe players (not you exactly, but a lot of your "colleagues")

I don't feel like to be special. But pinnacle cup isn't even tier A, bunch of tier 2-3 teams playing those shitty tournaments isn't enough for those tournaments to be considered tier A. IMO tier S events should be S pecial, and not be compared to Dallas EPL or spring since those events are important, but not AS cologne Katowice or Major. Maybe considere these events as S+ instead of S? Cause there's no way someone can put Dallas as important as cologne for example. And tbh I don't give a shit about delusional faze fans, I'm not one, been faze fan since 2017 and I only care that faze wins and hope they keep their consistency and good performance. Didn't give a shit about them losing Dallas and Blast, not bcz of the importance of the tournament, but bcz when they lost against C9, c9 was playing out of their minds and atleast they didn't lose 32-7 like against NaVi, when they lost blast like that, it worried me bcz of how they went down and not bcz of the tournament itself

But when you put Pinnacle as tier B, how can you compare it to some garbage online throw leagues, that were called tier B. There is no need to break the classification, all tier1 tournaments are called S tier for a reason. You can call those 3 (mb 4, I could add BLAST World Final to that list) something like S+, but saying that other tier 1 aren't S tier simply doesn't make sense. The difference between those is not that big

We're in one of the strongest times of CS mate. NiP played against puggers and we're abusing of it. When Astralis started to dominate the scene, CS started to evolve into a more tactical game which we see now a days, firepower no longer determines a game but the tactical approach.
