hate my job
Dosia |

here I am, slacking in my cubicle. I have a hundred little jobs to do, and they keep piling on. Feels like people take advantage of me as I'm new, giving me tasks that they could easily do themselves. I don't dare say them no, as I'm still on probation period (4 months). So fucking stressed, every evening I just think about how bad next morning is. Weekends are a huge relief. I don't know, feels like I am not strong enough for this stupid job. Neither does anyone else seem to be enjoying themselves here. But to quit and find a new job? That sounds even worse. Life is a pain right now, I wish to become unemployed...

I don't have the energy to do that. I will have to see through at least a few more months maybe then. Yesterday evening, I cried a little... Wtf

You need to quit bro. Or atleast start searching for some other job right now if you cant afford being unemployed. Being in a job thats miserable for you just eats you up so fast and affects everything in your life.

Freedom comes from being wealthy or completely broke that's freedom, everything in between is a form of slavery.

That's a mood lol. Unemployed, living with my parents, not a single fuck left to give about my life or the future, and the least stressed I've ever been.

That's your mood not mine xd. Men bear the burden of performance you'll never escape that. If you don't achieve wealth you'll be perpetually miserable and the comfort of nihilism won't save you. It's wired in your brain to perform.

Yeah to some extent, I stem that feeling with hobbies, alcohol and the ever-present reminder of how much effort has gone to waste in my life as well as my current utter lack of capacity to deal with failure.

That’s why you’re poor, you don’t work hard enough and cry about small things
2022-08-03 13:36
gl mens)) I hope you find a happiness in work, but as said in #1 #2 and #13 , Start looking for a new one when you have the energy to do so. I'm assuming you have an engineering degree based on #18 , so you should be able to find a job almost anywhere doing anything, do esn't even have to be engineering related, people just like a hard working problem solver.
2022-08-03 13:38
When you are employed it's pretty easy to find a new job. Recruiters look for employed people ( in their eyes someone who is not is a slacker / low performer) plus, you will not care that much if you fail interviews because you already have a job, albeit a stressful one. I was employed for 6 years, got bored at my company, first interview (which looked like a simple chat, even the technical one) got a nice offer. Software engineering field
2022-08-03 13:45
Maybe it's because you're slacking. And maybe it's that you need to get into the role and learn the routines. Maybe both.

2022-08-03 14:39
There could be two reasons. Either they dump all that shitty work on you to see how you react and whether you are willing to give 110%. If they see that you are a decent guy, they will respect you andyou'll have a better time soon. Or they are just being assholes and using you for their own benefits. The actions are the same but not the intentions. Just get through it and see by yourself if it gets any better. At our work we shit on new guys, too to see if they are disciplined and willing enough. Lazy, bad workers leave within weeks and the valuable workers stay. Natural selection.

I hope you are right. I have been told that my work is awesome, but feels like the harder I work the more stuff comes on my desk. Been calling customers all over Europe, when co-workers are afraid to use phones and just send emails (slow as fuck). Worst thing is trying to deal with customers who ask about very old stuff when things aren't documented well. How the hell should I know how things were done 10+ years ago? Then I have to ask the guy who gave me the task anyway.

It's probation time and they are testing you. Just give your best and better times will come. If not you can still leave. But leaving now would be very dumb.
2022-08-03 14:42
"giving me tasks that they could easily do themselves" - yo maybe u are looking at it wrong, if they could do it easily then u probably too, and u are new and on probation period, what did u expect just try to be optimistic idk, maybe everything is fine
2022-08-03 14:27
When your probationary period ends, take note of all the work you've been doing for other employees and negotiate a salary raise. I do this with many of my employees. If I see that they are taking on more work and carrying a lot of work load compared to other employees in the same department I will give them a higher salary after their probation period. And then if they keep up the same level of work or more, they move up my list for people I keep an eye on for promotions or leadership tasks that come with more pay increases.

"I have to go to my job today" "I get to go to my job today" I don't really like my job either, but thinking of it like this helps at least a little bit to get out of bed in the morning.

Update: I talked to my boss and he said I have been doing a great job. He also gave me a big project and in our team meeting said that I should be left alone with the project, so no one should be harassing me for a while. I had subtly implied that I don't appreciate how people keep delegating stuff to me. Very nice!
