An extremely large amount of violent crime in the USA is semi-organized criminal organization infighting (ie. street gangs shooting each other). The likelihood of you, a random tourist going to touristy areas and staying in a hotel, being involved in a random altercation is pretty low unless you are there pursuing it.

No, that’s where you’re wrong. Favelas are in fact one of the most secure place on Rio. Crime rate on places like Rocinha are ver very low, because the drug dealers don’t allow people to commit crime there since it brings police and police means they have to stop selling drugs.
Murders happen in favelas in three ocasions:
1. when there’s faction war (that isn’t happening often anymore because the biggest faction, CV, dominated almost 80% of the favelas in Rio)
2. When the criminals decide to execute someone (mostly because it’s someone who didn’t payed a debt)
3. When there’s police operations
All those 3 reasons generates a well documented death, even though the killers aren’t caught it goes to the official numbers

I’ve been to South Africa(Johannesburg and Cape Town) and it’s relatively safe. Mostly the squatter settlements and the segregated areas in use during apartheid

this is inaccurate due to two very simple things;
1. chicago is not present on this list (should be at least around 15 or higher)
2. philadelphia is not higher on this list (it is a fuckfest right now)

In those cities, the people getting murdered are the most likely to murder others. Aka, and unfortunately, African Americans shooting eachother. Normal Americans with jobs and lives don't care at all and have a 0.00000000000001% chance of getting murdered.
Not even going to mention how tourist safety is different in these countries, aka in Brazil if you walk around in anything other than shorts and flip flops you get targeted and robbed by two guys on a motorcycle.

I agree, but it also isn't when you consider USA is massive so every part can't be highly developed, and it has an extremely diverse population. Homogenous societies like Iceland, Japan, South Korea, etc. just don't have crime.
I'm not against diversity, but that's just the tradeoff a lot of countries make for economic prosperity because immigration is necessary and makes countries stronger. Like Sweden having skyrocketing gun violence and crime, Germany, etc. etc.

Sure there are reasons for that but it isn't just diversity. Big European cities are not less diverse than American cities. And the sweden crime is mostly a meme compared to the cities in this list. I'd say its probably more down to USA (and every other country in the list) being a young country with a kind of "colonial" social structure..

I'm gonna hard disagree, USA's cities are significantly more diverse by ethnicity/race.
For NYC alone:
White 42.7%
Hispanic or Latino (of any race) 29.1%
Black or African American 24.3%
Asian 13.9%
While London, the most diverse major European city, is almost 60% white, 7% black, etc.
But for some reason, NYC has less crime which I didn't expect. So, it's hard to judge.

Your right concerning street gang hotspots, I learned it at my first visit of LA. A police officer came to school and told us about the no go areas in LA, gang signs and so on.
This first visit also showed me guarded communities, something I hadn´t seen before.
The land of the free and brave wasnt anymore the land where I would study.
The sad thing is, for afroamericans, nothing has changed since then. The US isn´t facing it´s past and the public is voting for racists like Orange or someone like Biden, who with his crime bill is responsible for countless afroamerican kids who had to grow up without daddy, because daddy is sitting in prison thanks to Biden.
Mexico is there because of cartels, US is there because of street gang culture and South Africa is there because of racial tensions
