What is your country’s most popular food and do you like it
 |
Australia bryte
As an Australia I’d say our most popular food would have to be chicken parmigiana or Bunnings sausage sizzles, I’m not the biggest fan of both. How about you all ?

You're wrong again. There are a LOT of decent Finnish food. Many Finnish restaurants got their Michelin star by serving traditional Finnish food. Finnish fish dishes are really good. Also we got pretty strong reindeer scene you know. You can actually just go to pick some of the best mushrooms in the world in here. Our berries are top notch like cloudberry and real blueberries. Also Finnish strawberries are one of the best.

When you put it like that, maybe I was wrong. I forgot christmas food and mämmi etc. But our traditional foods are really plain and boring, even tho I like them.
2022-08-05 17:34

Its a shame people see our cuisine "plain and boring" but I somehow understand why its like that. I think most of the finnish people grew up eating just home made food and I assume most people's parents are not top tier chefs anyway. Finnish food is becoming more and more recognized all the time and we even got one new Michelin star restaurant that is not in Helsinki this year.

I mean I get it, just like you said. I enjoy spicy food with lots of flavours and so do many people, we just don't have foods like that. It's because we used to be really poor and didn't really have anyone to ship spices and ingredients to us. But Finnish food is healthy and I really enjoy and respect it, our home food we grew up with

Do u guys eating fermented and aged food? Is it the back bone of Finnish cuisine?
2022-08-06 00:10
1 reply
Not really. Ofc its used with dairy products and such but we dont have nothing like kimchi for example. Rye bread might be the most finnish fermented food.
2022-08-06 12:24
This is how I described Finnish food for Belgian people I visited recently. Although I was joking when I said it but tbh struggled to answer his question about typical finnish food. Salmon soup came to my mind first (after christmas stuff). How would you have answered?
2022-08-05 20:17
1 reply
Traditional Finnish food is pretty much affected by seasons and people used to eat what they were able to. Thats why our christmas food is like that for example. Karelian pie, rye bread, sauteed reindeer, salmon soup, muikut, leipäjuusto, salmiakki. I think there are more Finnish dishes or products but not that well known. Gordon Ramsay said he did eat some of the best fish (savustettu siika) in Finland.
2022-08-06 12:45
Salmon soup, kaalilaatikko and REAL karelian pie's are god tier

In Czechia, the most popular/traditional foods are: Svíčková: Vegateble sauce, dumplings, beef Guláš: Which is a hungarian food, but very popular in Czechia Knedlo, Vepřo, Zelo: Dumplings, pork, cooked cabage Neither of these originate in Czechia however. The only Czech original food that comes to mind is fried cheese wich I'd rather not talk about.

Khachapuri, there are diffrent verisons, but i prefer adjarian khachapuri, and kupdari (its like different dish, but its khachapuri with meet), we have khinkali (but i wont say i like it, not bad, but not my dish), shashlik (cool thing) we have adchahuri (its potato with beef and different vegetables, its cool too.), So yeah Georgian kitchen is insane and if you are going to visit it, expect that you will get 5+-kgs, maybe more, cause georgian kitchen is fat, but insane.
