How many hours per day do you use tiktok? The amount of defendants for a social media application is really, really weird. It must play a huge part in your life if your problem is the fact that this thing was blamed on a "challenge where you knock yourself out" instead of such challenge existing.

Tiktok has been studied for a good while now. That is not how it works. When you make a new account it will put all kinds of random shit on your for-you page. Some guy made an account and set his age to 7 years old. Can you guess what the for you page was filled with? Things like "If you take enough nutmeg you will hallucinate" etc.

I can agree that it destroys attention span but it is a social media platform which requires you to put your age at 13+, so you can't put it at 7 years old. Also you cant really say that it puts random shit on the for you page since you literally get to choose a few interests, you don't have to, which then it will just show you only famous people, not someone who will make you quit the platform

And what I want to mean is that, yeah social media has some part of the fault by not correctly controlling what's getting uploaded in social media. But if the parents of the kid aren't checking what the kid watches sometimes and stuff and just leave him with the cellphone 24/7(like most do nowadays), then it's parent's fault and not just "SoCiaL MeDiA iS eViL". I think that blaming all on technology makes people believe that no matter how they teach their children, if they do something bad it's bcz of technology/social media.

with FB/Google you agree to data collection. Data collection in this case doesn't mean snooping on your phone unlike an actual spyware like Pegasus or tiktok. Plus FB/Google can get punished if they breach your privacy. It's not normal business.

Parents need to stop blaming their children being suicidal on internet trends. You cannot hold your breath until you end up in a coma or on life support without using external support or an object. You cannot strangle yourself with your hands. Your body will not let you cease breathing by holding your breath until you die. You will pass out or become delirious long before this happens and you will start to breathe. Our bodies are idiot proofed in this way.
This kid tried to kill himself using a rope, belt, or object that continued to stop his breathing long after he lost consciousness. This is called suicide.

I mean, if you overuse it ofc. But i use social media and go to a college yet don't have such problems(I'm 19). Imo it has more to do with discipline, you can blame the social media if you want, but the over use of it causes these many problems in the child, and the ones who allow the kids to use and over use the technology and social media ig are their parents.
