+1 USA is for the smart and ambitious to get rich and prosper. That's why the smartest inventors, scientists, entrepreneurs move here en masse. If you are a low iq brokey then gtfo

You're delusional if you think the 'American dream' is still reality
2022-08-18 03:32
1 reply
The "American Dream" criticism comes from the extremely poor to middle class mobility. America is the best for middle class to upper class mobility. Hence why smart people move here. I was born extremely poor to an immigrant and am now upper middle class so it is what it is. It depends on the state.

I mean it's facts. Are you denying that the smartest immigrants flock to America and get rejected while Canada and UK beg for them with their point-based visa system? You know immigrants to USA are 6x more productive compared to other developed countries even when accounting for education levels, and they end up significantly richer? docs.iza.org/dp14016.pdf

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_.. Canada has the 5th highest household debt rate in the world. USA is 13th. You good leaf bro? I'll take being rich in a place with better weather and people vs. living in a frozen soy land. Not a fat trucker or in a gang either so I'm good on lifespan.

Yeah, who cares about significantly better jobs, universities, more resources, more money, and working with smarter people. Who cares that immigrants are 6x more productive in America. Makes no difference! Leaf moment

I'm sorry but no normal person unironically believes people lead better lives in your country than in the normal world. You have bigger businesses with more power and plenty of very pleased rich people as a result of that, but that's that. If you really really like that, that's fine mens enjoy it as I said
2022-08-18 04:29

Keep coping by just saying "the businesses!" when I mention better universities. Also weather, more fun, more things to do, around smarter people. Even healthcare is better if you're not poor in specific states. (which is the large majority of Americans). Your top politicians literally go to America for surgery lmao: medpagetoday.com/cardiology/acutecoronar.. Also, the most comprehensive QoL index there is: oecdbetterlifeindex.org/

I have been to USA I know you don't have better things to do, no normal people go to your good schools and poor people die with nothing. Also many states have literal hell weather. Obviously the super rich go to USA for the super expensive hospitals. Why do you think I care? Every time I have come home from your country I am grateful I do not live there. I don't need your absolute delusion of a perception of what your country is when I have seen what it really is. Don't take me for a naïve kid.
2022-08-18 04:40

Yes, we do. You're from Canada, it's cold and shitty and boring with none of the world-defining cool aspects of America. Stop coping. Idk, I don't want to die on a waiting list. If I was poor, I'd rather get instant, world class treatment and go in debt rather than have no choice. Middle class Americans are significantly richer, even when accounting for higher health and living costs. Ok cool, your countrymen don't think the same judging by their higher rates of immigration at a 4x rate, neither do the entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, and more that beg to come here. Cheers leaf, and enjoy your sweet cope.

Yeah I never argued that. I would only say America is the best for upper-middle class people to make money and have great services for cheap.

Less population density, more greenspace, I don’t have a great comparison on the public transportation. Ottawa feels less like an overpopulated area than Toronto

whats ur current situation? any particular reason you prefer canada? i was born in canada, and am studying in us rn, i personally prefer it here compared to my hometown in quebec i heard its pretty hard to immigrate to canada, and unless u have a really good reason (job opportunity, gf, other opportunity) i really see no reason to the us and canada are very similar in many aspects, but yeah the cost of living in canada is way higher than the us. in terms of places to stay, if ur fluent in french i would recommend somewhere in quebcec, but otherwise anywhere is fine just avoid ontario

I think OP is a kid as well tbh. Americans move immigrate to different states instead of out of the country. There's a brain drain out of the south to the coast. If you want universal healthcare, no mass shootings, top tier public education, welfare, etc. go to Massachusetts or another similar state. But if you don't want to work or something then I agree that welfare countries with guaranteed housing are better. In Finland you don't even have to work.
2022-08-18 03:31
I would recommend quebec dead last aside from like the arctic

Real question: How is the social safety net in Canada? I know the housing market is insane right now, but would you recommend being poor in Canada over UK or Germany or something?
2022-08-18 06:16

No being poor in Canada is brutal because of the winter, homeless people end up going to Vancouver because its the only weather they can survive. Employment insurance is only good if you contributed to it. I would say its much easier to be poor in USA, UK, Germany

Vancouver is amazing, but I can tell you (as someone who lives in Vancouver) that you need to make smart choices and stay ahead of the pay curve because it's really expensive here. If you can afford it, it's the best place in North America. I've been to 38 states in the USA and can still say that with confidence.
