Python and maths

So I’m pretty bad at maths and now in my last year of gymnasium I’ve picked programming as a new class. This is for beginners only and basically people who’ve never programmed before. After first lecture I found it easy but this is to be expected (first lesson for beginners). We’ll be making some small game in it and I just wonder if it’ll be difficult for someone like me, anyone has any insight? Anything would help, thanks :)

Just practice coding as much as you can and it will be alright men.

its fine as long as you learn the fundamentals of proggraming well enough your newly acquired skills will translate to almost any other programming language, so dont memorize the insructions and try to really understand whathappening everythime you code someting

You almost always make a game after you've done the whole "hello world" thing. I hardly doubt there will be any advanced math to make the game.

From my experience, you have to code as much as you can, don't observe too much and always try it yourself, or even better come up with your solution for desired problem

So basically, don’t be scared to try different solution to x problem? I hope it’s a bit more liberal here in programming because I’ve always found solutions in maths different ways where I get the right answer but my teachers don’t like it. Basically I took the shortcut to the solution.

yea, I'm not that good at programming, but trying to figure out problem in your own way is the best way to learn coding tbh

+1. I once made Sudoku game with C#. My first version that worked took 50minutes to create a game 🤣 took me few weeks but I got the time down to 0,5s. I must say that maths can help you with programming but it's not necessary. I've seen people bad in maths starting up development companies while people who were good in maths struggled with programming. Motivation and desire to learn is big things that will help. I am decent in programming but I don't really like it. My brother has been trying to recruit me for Javascript job for years but I don't wanna do it. I work in metal industry (cnc and robotics) which I like more. Pay is worse but quality of life is better 👌

the easiest thing you can do is to code on python so you got it dude

You have to get really good at logic, and some assignments in school will probably be solving math problems. but i havn't had to solve a hard math problem yet in 5 years of programming as a job.

i also did programming for beginners last year and just like you, i thought it was really easy but after a while i found it very boring and stopped listening and therefor it got hard af for me. But in the end everything worked out for me :D

The key is to believe that you will always be able to overcome difficulties, the only variable is time. Maybe you need to practice more, maybe you need to study the fundamentals more, but as long as you're making progress, you'll get it.

what u need is logic not maths maths itself is done by the computer lol

dont worry too much about the syntax, just try to understand the logic behind everything you write

you don't need math for programming, it could improve your problem solving, it could matter when you work on ML, big data, or similar things, but besides that math is just irrelevant. sure, you might need some math if you build physics in games, but it's still easy, you just need to google for the right formula and implement it, so unless you're going deep into things like opengl for example and need to make vertices and similar things, you'll do just fine.

Ngl i genuinely thought this was going to be another joke about how big Python's forehead is
2022-08-18 22:21
Maths itself is not really needed. Logic is however, you need to think a bit differently when you code
2022-08-18 22:23
TLDR? ok
2022-08-18 22:23
i was trash at math but im kinda ok/good on python so dont worry, just be good at logic

if you want to work with machine learning and data science then maths/statistics are very important otherwise all you will need is logic and arithmetic
2022-08-18 22:27
dude fuck PYTHON, learn either JavaScript or C++ or Java
