HAVU stupid?
aliStair |
Finland arskaahh
they announce new roster, play a few finnish tournaments, a few open qualifiers, no pinnacle cup or any other tier 3 tournaments, no ESEA, then they are surprised the team doesn't work and kick a couple of players out and add a few new ones and do the same thing again?

They don't get any invites anymore because they are so lowly ranked and they probably fail all the open qualifier brackets that no one pays attention to unless it's for a major

This might be it. Im not sure do they even try any open qualifiers? At least they dont post anything about them. To the outside it feels like they imagine still being Top-30 team who gets invites to the tournaments instead of actually qualifying to them
2022-09-29 10:23

also the fact that they don't play ESEA is weird to me since that way they could grind their way to some tournaments if they aren't getting any invites

True. And it seems to play some open qualifiers at least but they are just unable to get to any decent results. For example in ESL Challenger Rotterdam 2022 qualifiers, they didnt even get to Top-8 in either of the qualifiers (17-32 in 1st and 9-16 in 2nd)

Idk it feels like the whole org is just waiting for something currently Aerial is nearly at retirement age and sadly x7 is getting closer to it as well Sergej isnt coming back any time soon, neither is Jamppi Aleksib is international for another year or so minimum which means no good IGL JANO has about half the remaining talent pool that could theoretically play at sub-top level The only academy players that have any prospect are Banjo and Jimpphat and neither of those are going to leave orgs where they will be getting probably more support, more exposure and more free time Finnish CS had a chance to recover when Aleksi left G2 but he joined NiP for some fucking reason and now the entire scene is just stuck kinda waiting again and I think HAVU just got caught out expecting something different

Alone definitely not But sergej banjo jimpphat makes a strong rifling core Aleksib sergej Banjo Jimpphat Jamppi Could make a pretty strong team and tbh should have been what Aleksi tried to do instead of NiP, this would have firepower that could compete with all but the very best, you can also suggest +x7 in there somewhere if you wanted a better support/clutcher

even though aleksi has been a tier 1 player for years now i still think he could do his thing better if he had another experienced player with him like allu was in ENCE. Aleksib ottoNd xseveN Jimpphat Banjo is something that could work better in my eyes

If you are top 40-50 team at least TOs will invite you, if you suck you need to grind open quals even for t3 tournaments to prove urself. But not playing esea seems weird and dumb i agree
2022-09-29 10:45
Jano is at least trying to grind tournaments. I don't know if Havu just isn't getting invites but part of the problem must be that they are not actively seeking them out either.
2022-09-29 10:10

I feel the same. I can see Jano weekly in HLTV at least trying to grind. Where is Havu? Have seen them trying to qualify to RMR and the blast qualifier. What else? (Well assembly but anything else?) Compared to other teams like Sinners, ex-skade or even eyeballers. They play all the time
2022-09-29 10:25
I guess the problem is the mindset of either the players or the management
2022-09-29 10:38

Probably both, Aerial and xSeven have been stuck with HAVU for 2 years now, getting paychecks without result, zehN is old, he did his career, the only one who might want to grind since he's young is spargo. And of course HAVU management who have been doing poor choices since 2016.

They should have a more ambitious and goal-driven timetable for themselves. "For the rest of the year, we will just try to gel together as a team" is not good enough, not with players of this experience. They should play every single tournament they can get into, and later - if they ever reach a level they should be at - then they could pick and choose what they decide to focus on. By March we will see their maximum level, but the pace is so fucking slow it's amazing. First you just chill and "take a look at the maps", then you have a ~2 month Christmas holiday, and only then they will probably set some goals for the team and start grinding.

Yes, but no offense now dont get me wrong, but i hear finnish people saying that about all players, aleksi top3 igl, Xseven teir 1, Aerial T1 entry, Sergej would still be top 5 rifler in T1, Zehn hidden T1 material etc. I love the support you guys show them but if it was true it feels like you would have a team atleast in T2 by now. You might be right about Myltsi i havent watched him enough, i hope you are right!

sergej is benched at Titans I think, and he's getting a heavy paycheck on the bench, his salary when he was playing was 10K, I don't think HAVU has those funds. And he is probably locked, maybe he even doesn't care anymore about competition and just want money.

Interesting, but the question still remains, will he try to grab a juicy contract, or grind back and try to get to a high level again, even if the money isn't there ? But for you finnish, although sergej hasn't played at a "high" level for quite some time, he has lots of experience, and could maybe share it with a young gun.

I’m not saying they can’t, but at the end of the day, what’s the point in fielding a top 30 team? Especially in a region like Finland. Maybe the hope is Aerial or xseven have a good couple months and you sell them to ENCE? But other than that, fielding a top 30 roster filled with regressing late 20s players just doesn’t make sense.

Do you know what the HAVU's players problems are with those players? I can imagine maybe xseven and Aerial's time with allu in ENCE is why they have some problems but why with ottoNd? He's a pretty decent AWPer that got dropped for seemingly no reason, despite being a complete upgrade from spargo

2022-09-29 11:26
I always hate it when talented players give up possibilities of forming successful teams due to problems outside of the game, wish they could make amends lol. With this current HAVU team I think I can believe, zehN is a great player and aerial and XSeven have shown they can be great tier 1 players. They are a bit out of form but if they can return to a good level then HAVU can break into the top 20 tbh, doto has a lot of impact in the game although I think he needs to work a bit on IGLing - HAVU's calling seems rather one dimensional. Spargo just needs to figure out how to hit stuff >=( maybe he can become a more supportive AWPer in his play style, cause his current style isn't helping HAVU at all lol

Lol, too good for tier 3 and tier 2 tournaments in their own mind? Maybe should humble down a bit and acknowledge the level you are at. Let's be real, there won't be another Finnish tier 1 team without Aleksib and jamppi. And possibly even that won't be enough but that's the minimum condition.

It's a shame what is the current state of finnish cs. Outside of jimmphat, there's no players with tier 1 potential. Banjo is soon out of fnatic rising and ENCE academy is just a way for ENCE to make money in hopes that some of them develop for selling purposes. 2022-09-29 15:45
I think it's probably because the players just didn't fit well in the team. Ottond apparently had some motivation issues which is why he was benched. Sm1llee was just mediocre alongside jemi. This is the most promising lineup in a while. Doto > Slowi as an IGL and Zehn obviously an experienced player with still a lot to show. Spargo a bit inconsistent but realistically probably the best young awper they could've gotten.
