there are lines but they are more symbolic than moral, Carlos didn't get cancelled for being in a building with Tate he got cancelled because he said " I will be friends with who I want to be friends with" he didn't prostrate himself in front of the mob, Carlos didn't know that you don't say no to children, especially emotionally unstable, extremely tribal children, which is the core audience of Esports, it will only make them even more angry with you and because social media is known on a scientific level for making mentally ill people even more mentally ill, the mob grew and went after whoever they could in order to put enough pressure on enough people to remove Carlos.
This wouldn't happen to Riot because they appease the children with head pats and platitudes while they sexually assault women and discriminate against them and cover it up.
The line is imaginary, it is wherever the mob needs it to be, or more the person controlling the mob because these mobs are there to be controlled and are of no value as humans past that point, which allows the use of racial slurs, and homophobia while also being against people being friends with petty frauds.
This extends past Esports America as a whole is a great example of this in action, you have Trump, a mentally ill moron that gives his followers head pats and Biden a mentally ill segregationist that gives his followers headpats. Many evil people have quotes that sound a bit like "the person that controls the youth owns the future" that is essentially how these companies use social media. The real reason why F1 and other giant industries aren't really phased by ridiculous outrage culture is because the audience is mainly boomers that are capable of understanding context and of not jut emotionally reacting to singular words.
