4 month 1mi/2mi running progress

So I decided to go thru my workouts and find out how much I improved since 5th of June Just before you read this I wanna say - consistency is key, it doesn't matter if you run your hardest every 3rd day, you won't improve much, just try to go out every day or every other day and adjust to the load, it's not possible to get gains without pain, of course I'm not saying you should run till you get injured but you get the point 5.06 - 2mi in 15:20ish 17.06 - 1mi in 6:56 with downhill, 2.75k total for the cooper test 11.07 - 1mi in 6:51 16.07 - 2mi in 15:00, 4k@4:42 tempo run 28.07 - 1mi in 6:37 with slight downhill, 1.81k in 7:28 total 30.07 - 2mi in 14:18, massive downhill on the course meaning it's not a good indicator for the fitness at the time 20.08 - 1mi in 6:24, 2k@4:00 total 1.09 - 2mi in 14:07 with uphill running, 4.56k@4:27 threshold 28.09 - 1mi in ~5:46-5:47 pb Looking at the workouts as they were coming in u couldn't deduce a lot but by posting this here I can tell you one thing - structuring your workout to run slow, tempo and interval days works wonders and u won't achieve a lot if u don't mix stuff in the beginning, I can only call myself an advanced runner based on my mile time so it's a long way to being even a semipro, therefore u can use my tips to get to my level only for now, but will keep u updated if u enjoy this!

Usually lifelong runners only start to have issues if they don't stretch prior and run while older
2022-10-01 15:40
Only if you are severely overweight so the strain on your knees is out of the fisiological load, or if you use flat shoes. As long as you dont go beyond the boundaries of what is a stressful but not excessive workout you not only be perfectly fine but your health will improve in the short and long run.

Running is great, another good way to train cardio while also getting in leg resistance is running in shallow water at beaches (knee height)

One question, did you start this out as a way to lose fat? Or do you just do it for cardio and to try build better fitness, stamina etc.?

I weighted 72-74kgs in the beginning and maintained it, I started for better mental health as I was only sitting at my desk playing cs, realistically I started in the beginning of May, when I started noticing progress I just hooked on it, maybe gonna compete internationally in a few years
