zehN interview translated

zehN interview in Finnish translated. Didn’t see any thread about this so spent an hour on this. Hopefully someone didn’t do this before me and I somehow missed it. Link to the interview: youtube.com/watch?v=oz_XCRO_RA0 doto interview releasing next, if people want the translation on that I could do that too. PENTA (joined early 2017) - On paper a “reject mix”, would have been unlikely to see all of them play on a high level in other teams and something just clicked with this lineup. - People we’re young and naive. Which led to them not really speaking about the issues inside. - zehN learn a lot from other cultures and types of people. One connecting thing between them seemed to be that when someone did something wrong people would say things very bluntly to him. After a while because everyone was saying things so bluntly people started to get frustrated. - It was clear that suNny and HS were leaving so the core trio decided that they’d still play the majors since they had qualified for it. (They signed with Sprout) SPROUT (joined late 2017) - kRYSTAL brought in his old teammates denis and Spiidi. This was a mistake because what zehN didn’t know is that they (not sure if he meant all 3 or just denis + Spiidi) had some unresolved issues and “scars” from past experiences. - There we’re a shitload of arguments and fights because of the unresolved issues. Shit like “you’re just as bad in 2014 and 2015” - Most practice sessions ended with trying to get them to stop arguing and resolve the issues that were still affecting them. - zehN was very unhappy in this environment and the team but still wanted to play the major hoping that they’d somehow get a good run there. - After winning the first game (at major) and losing the rest he told the rest of the team that he doesn’t want to play in the team anymore because he’s just not happy at all playing the game with them. HAVU (joined mid 2018) - skipping the Finnish cs - Late 2018 / early 2019 there was interest and offers from Cloud 9 and a few others. - Ended up in NoChance NoChance (joined early 2019) - Only played with frozen for about 2 weeks before he joined Mousesports. - They got STYKO even though they believed that he wouldn’t want to come because he was a more established player having just been benched from Mousesports. Apparently he was very happy to come and wanted to prove his worth as he had previously been playing behind other peoples shadows. (suNny, oskar, etc.) - nukkye got an offer from Hellraisers. He saw more potential with NoChance but signed with HR because of pressure from his dad as then he would be getting paid. - Thomas replaced nukkye and they played well for a couple of months with a few upsets against some good teams. - After losing in the minors Thomas announced to his teammates that he’d be leaving because it’s too stressful and he’d rather farm T3 than play in T1 this fast. zehNs words: He said just that “he wants to farm noobs by playing in Endpoint” a UK team. - Saw potential in Maden as he they had played against them in some open qualifiers. He was very confident and wasn’t afraid of playing against T1 opponents. - Lineup joined SMASH SMASH (joined late 2019) - Owned by DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Apparently one of their sisters' husband wanted to start an org with their help because he liked to play videogames. He wanted the NoChance lineup to sign with him and they eventually did. - They had no sponsors or other type of financial backing and the DJs didn’t want to put any of their own money into the org. They started looking for sponsors but it would take a while. - The players were promised that after 3 months of playing with no salary they’d be getting paid something like $2700 / month. - MSI was in talks regarding sponsoring the team. The deal was something along the lines of $150k / year. Half of this money would have gone straight to the DJs and half to the org. - The $2700 / month had turned into $1200 / month and the players obviously weren’t happy. Owner got angry and said that soon nobody would be getting paid if they won't play for them. - The owner started messaging players in steam in private that if you stay you get 2x salary or if it was up to me you’d get 2x salary. He said he wants to change a couple of players but the players replied by saying that it wouldn’t be happening as they’d be playing together. He had apparently secretly, without consulting with the players, messaged players like coldzera and Aleksib that would they be interested in joining the team. (In the place of Maikelele) - The owner also came to the practice sessions to tell the players what to do and what not to do. Like messaging Maden on steam that you shouldn’t peek there and similar stuff. - The owner got really angry and started insulting the players after they told him that they don’t tell him what to do regarding the org so why should he be attempting to influence how they play. Left the sinking ship right after this. GODSENT (joined late 2019) - Devilwalk had contacts in Godsent and they signed with them. - Played well in the RMRs and initially had a legend spot for the major. (Talks started with FPX when they had the legend spot) It changed to contender spot after some RMR(s). - Godsent sold the lineup for a sizable sum of money to FPX because of the major slot. FPX (joined late 2020) - FPX wanted to get into CS with force by going straight to the majors. Online era hindered this plan. - Issues in online era. - All benched at the same time and individual players got offers from many different teams. BENCHED FROM FPX - zehN got an offer from ENCE but they settled on Maden as they wanted a more aggressive player and Maden was just that. - There was also some interest from Complexity and other teams about buying the core. In some talks he was a part of the core and in some he wasn’t. - distrubed (at the time the HAVU coach and some ownership too I believe) talked with zehN and was interested in signing him but told him that they definitely didn’t have hundreds of thousands to pay in buyout fees or salaries. FPX wasn’t willing to give up on the players too easily so the buyout wouldn’t be dropped too much which led to zehN not being able to play in any team during a few months (~7-8 months). - Considered coaching but eventually decided to play as he was still hungry to play and believed that he was still good enough to play. - If he was to coach then he would have most likely applied for the ENCE Academy or even HAVU. HAVU (joined mid 2022) - HAVU was considering whether or not to take young upcoming players or more experienced players. They settled with the latter (doto from ENCE and zehN) - At the time of the interview they’ve practiced for a month. 2 months as a team but because of playerbreak they hadn’t been able to practice for a month. - 4 to 5 day bootcamp before Assembly Summer 2022 finished behind JANO and Into The Breach. Not happy about the result but considering the practice it was still fine for the team. - This HAVU lineup is trying to do things in a non-Finnish CS way by actually talking things through when issues arise. People in the team are a lot happier than they would have been in previous Finnish CS teams. - Close losses in open qualifiers but team is still looking promising according to both zehN and the CEO (interviewer). - Aerial and xseven were “broken” / frustrated / depressed when zehN joined, probably because of bad results in the previous lineups. Things are looking better now, one of the reasons being that they talk about issues rather than ignoring them.

Topics are hidden when running Sport mode.
Some of the things we're already public info but I just put pretty much everything here because it's faster than checking if something has already been said by someone.

It's not really about zehN as much as it is about the teams he played in. He doesn't talk about himself for an hour he talks about the things that happened inside the teams he played in.

interesting story, got scammed by DJ how can a scam artist pocketing half of sponsors money and the sponsor didnt openly protest
2022-10-04 13:30

Don't know. Too me it sounded like the money would go 50/50 to DJs and org and not even 100% to the org and then half of it to the DJs so the sponsor should've been aware of it. Could also be that it just misinterpret what zehN said and it would have gone 100% to the org and then 50% to the DJs.

this story make me think, BNE create their own org is the best move at least their hardwork without pay can be paid with company share and not being robbed by other/s bc even pro player can be scammed by well-known person

Fucking hilarious but also sad that players and teams with potential have to go through bs like this.
2022-10-04 13:26
ugh so annoying that little rats like the SMASH manager are still around and how socially unaware do you have to be to attend ingame match pracs and tell players what to do like they are apart of the lineup, it's so damn cringe but then again expected as SMASH sounded like a shady org.

Sounds to me that the DJs sisters husband whose idea the org was thinks too highly of himself and promised the DJs that esports would be a good investment (which it isn't) which would explain the 50/50 split on the sponsorship money. Imagine thinking pro players need help on ingame things from the owner.

nah those djs are scumbags, taking 50 for themselves is already a redflag if true instead of putting 100 of sponsor money into the org without even fronting their own money.

Yep especially considering they had already played 3 months without salary for the org + a few months in NoChance as a mix without salary.

"nukkye got an offer from Hellraisers. He saw more potential with NoChance but signed with HR because of pressure from his dad as then he would be getting paid." Worked well for him, eh? Dumbest move from the entire interview.

regarding SMASH those 2 dj's have such a bad reputation here in belgium lol they even "buy" their votes for "best dj of the year", they send "influencers" to hassle up votes and ppl make a chance to win trips to ibiza.. which they just give out to friends of them personally their management is so cocky i cant even give u another example since it has to do with my work :D tldr; vegas & mike are very shady people here in BE, plz dont support them, ty <3
