60/144 hz switch

Poland infamouss__
Have you guys switched from 60 to 144 hz monitor? If so, did your csgo results improve and you play overall better with it? Asking cuz I'm planning to get one in a few days

Yea, with 60hz monitor I had 850 elo. Now I have 1024 elo

i agree with you, although i have seen the smoother motion and everything on 144hz (my brother has it) i don't really see the point in doing it just for csgo. 200$ is too much for me because i know that fps and motion are really not my problem in becoming higher level, it's more about practice and tryharding that is holding me back and i dont have time for that anyway, so why do the switch. however, it does look much better

Cost??? There is no shot you just mentioned cost when you can buy BenQ tier S 144hz monitors for 200 euros, and you have 60hz monitors in full hd that sometimes cost even 250€ just because they are slightly curved (lmao). You have no reason to not upgrade to 144hz, you don't have to go pro and the moment you realise, how SHIT 60hz is, you will NEVER want to go back to 60hz. And believe me, how many times have you heard this line? Probably a lot, because it's true, 144hz is just so much smoother and so much better. I play on 240hz (I am playing at 3k elo faceit, not trying to go pro), and it's just such an enjoyment for my eyes. You 100% DO NOT need 240hz, but you surely need 144hz if you want to be just "good" at csgo. And 60hz is a huge limit to that. The only argument you have, that I would agree with, is "I work a 9-5, have a girlfriend and I play csgo in the weekends with friends" then sure no point but that's kind of the only scenario where I would not suggest to upgrade to 144.

Is not like is gona improve your skill. You will just loose less aim duels against fast peeks that do have 144hz. Then if your aim is shit, your gamesense is shit, those will keep on being shit even with a 240hz.

Even 75 Hz monitor improves your vision a lot compare to 60 Hz monitor. I played a match with 144 Hz monitor in an internet cafe near my house, after that I came back home and watched my own demo on my 60 Hz monitor and it looked like I prefired everything lol. Reflexion is very important in FPS game so you will definitely get better result with better Hz monitor even if you are bad or not.

Good internet cafes have options with either 144 or 240, usually they would be in the center of a city/province since people could afford higher cost. Shitty internet cafes wont get you over 70 fps lol

Actually the price difference is not too big between rural and urban areas. I am currently living in the central of Hanoi and the price of the internet cafe I mentioned is around 8.000 dong/hour (Which equal to about 0.34 USD/hour). While in the countryside, the price is around 5.000 dong/hour.

2022-10-05 12:15

360Hz vs 144Hz without any motion blur reduction technologies will have better motion clarity and response time. Once you introduce motion blur reduction like DyAc then everything changes, and it depends on the implementation (DyAc will yield better results than some inferior competitors for example).

LOOOOOOOOOOOL actually clueless. some 144 hz panels have better motion clarity than some 360 hz panels (DYAC/VRB OFF). higher refresh rate =/= better motion clarity but en té. what is your monitor btw? i can guarantee you my old CRT with 100 hz has better motion clarity than your 240

If you're at 60hz and you have a computer that can handle a 144hz monitor it's the best upgrade you can get. You will probably get a few more kills cause you will see the opponent better/faster and you're going to be asking yourself why you haven't switched earlier.

Even if not that much, but you're gonna be better. Not in a way that you will kill more people or smthing like that. But movement, spary and crosshair placement. It felt so much smoother to me when I switched to 144hz, and also it helped my reaction speed a bit, but not that drastically, so do not expext extreme improvements.
2022-10-05 09:00
I had a screen developed for graphic designers and while the image quality was superb, the lag and ghosting was so horrible that it negatively affected my gameplay. 144 Hz (and 240 Hz, which I have now) does not make you an aim god but will improve accuracy and will makes the game feel so much nicer overall that you're actually motivated to even try to play better.
2022-10-05 09:00
Stretched resolutions actually became playable. Tracking became easier. So yeah it did improve stuff.
2022-10-05 09:00
Holy shit. When people said that the difference was "pretty noticeable" I was like "meh, probably a waste of money" Until I saw how fucking insane this shit is. 60hz feels like absolute shit now and I don't think I can ever go back. It's like playing a whole new game. If you're considering getting a 144hz, do it right now, you will not be upset.

most of time i spend near PC is working: typing text, watching and reading. its like 60-70% of time 30-40% of time i play games or watch movies (equal proportion) i have i7-10700/3080ti + 1920x1200 (60hz), i play msfs2020, cyberpunk2077, bf1 and rarely cs go so should i really upgrade my screen to 144hz and have a good chance not be able to get 144 fps on msfs2020 (ultra), cyberpunk 2077 (ultra), etc, but have a some questionable advantage in cs go? not to mention faster screens usually more shit in terms of eyesight health no thanks

Switched from 60 to 165Hz circa 2 months ago, you'll instantly see that the game is so much smoother. For me if anything I feel 100% more confident in taking duels and holding tight angles in comparison with the old monitor I had. Definitely worth it, although it will not make you a better player, but you're definitely going to enjoy playing more..
2022-10-05 10:12
i mean, it's worth upgrading in a general meaning, not only for cs or other games. I cannot really use 60hz monitors for anything but youtube or spotify lol

then hz alone won't help you i suppose. when people upgrade it's usually the fps+hz combo.

I think its definietly better. But i broke my 144 hz once and tried to play on 60 hz again, and i just couldnt because i had a headache all the time
2022-10-05 11:11
You will probably improve a bit if it comes to Your consistency and Your eyes wont get tired so easy. The difference visually is huge (to the point You will never go back to 60hz). I'd recommend buying 244 hz tho with DyAC+ like Benq xl2546, this is literally the best monitor I ever had. I also have 360hz and I use it as second monitor because it doesn't have this "DyAC+" thing and it makes huge change.
2022-10-05 11:13
Its night and day. Everyone saying otherwise is a clown.

In my case, it's not just the monitor, since I completely updated the computer, but still Before 240Hz and a weak computer, my peak was bigsar, after, almost immediately LE, LEM, Supreme, Global.

It did not improve, and honestly you don't feel much of a difference to begin with, you feel the huge difference when you try to go back from 144hz to 60hz, then you tell yourself: "wtf, did I actually used that shit????" anyhow, 144hz nice only after you realize how smooth it is, but I didn't feel any improvement.
2022-10-05 12:15
60-144 is huge. 120-144 is practically the same. 144-240 isn’t that big of a jump. I was good at cs with 60 but 144 made everything better. More smooth and enjoyable. Don’t know if I necessarily got better but yeah. Hopefully this makes sense.
2022-10-05 12:20
Switched from 60 hz to 240hz and a new computer, it took me 2 months to get from MGE to global after that Whenever i use my 60hz monitor now, i can feel how bad it actually is

Bro dont listen to these retards saying "oh human eye camt see more than 60hz bla bla bla" . Its night and day difference and that comes from a guy who played many years on 60hz and even reached lvl 10 faceit if it really matters to you and all i can say its that its not even comparable , the 144 is so smooth compared to the 60hz one that you might get a boner . It will help you be more consistent and react to enemies faster and have better reaction . But if you are just a casual gamer you could still get it because it is such a big upgrade you wont believe it unless you try it. The only thing you need is higher fps to maintain above 144fps but other than that its a godlike upgrade

2022-10-05 13:06
The biggest mistake that u can ever make is to play 144 hz somewhere (internet cafe, friends or whatever) and after that go play on your own monitor 60hz. It's the worst part when u will feel like u have 30 fps and everything is lagging so hard
2022-10-05 13:34
My friends did this switch. But results didnt improve because they have bad gamesense

I switched from 75hz to 165hz, difference is huge, I don't play nearly as much now as I played when I had 75hz because now I study and work at the same time, also I live with my gf so no time for playing few hours in the evening, so actually my elo is lower, but in terms of my individual form I got better, ofc I would be much better if I played more than 30h per 2 weeks but 165hz improved everything, my reaction time, my aim, my gamesense even. It's just easier to focus on the game with higher hz number. It's more reactive and responsive. Worth it 100%
2022-10-05 15:48
When i switched it took me about 1 week to get used to game running so smoothly. Improved a lot, specially with awp. Now i can't imagine playing in 60hz, even in other games where refresh rate doesn't matter it gives much better experience.
2022-10-05 15:48

2022-10-05 16:04
oh u gonna love it wish I could play for the first time at 144 again after 60
2022-10-05 16:07
doesnt make you a better player directly but the game feels so much more comfortable with a higher hz monitor
2022-10-05 16:16
Yes, I switched maybe a couple of months ago. I haven't played cs enough to say it made me improve, but the difference is night and day and it feels great. I was of course skeptical before buying a new monitor but it's crazy, most definitely worth it.

Super huge difference, do it /closed
2022-10-05 19:32
no, it may depend on the person, but it doesn't improve your game, probably just that the image looks a little smooth, and I really did not notice much difference, only that the image is somewhat smooth but that the screen makes you a better player? no.

My faceit elo before and after: 60 hz: 2700 144 hz: 2100
2022-10-05 19:36
yes its very different you will see by yourself i was dmg and went global and 3100 elo
2022-10-05 19:47
It just feels much better to play at 144hz. Difference is absolutely enormous. You enjoy the game more. But idk about improvement. Depends on what you mean by that. It's not like you will suddenly start dropping 40 bombs on level 10 just because of the monitor. You may get better, because it's easier to get kills, but don't expect anything super huge straight away. Your level will stay the same, but like I said, it will be easier to improve for sure if you commit yourself.
2022-10-05 19:47
Not that much to be honest, I got my 144 hz monitor when I had like 1200 hours, my peak kills with my 75 hz monitor was 54 kills and I had like 1k hours( Yes I am a Pug monster), now I have 1800 hours and My peak is like 57 kills, with my 144 hz monitor, the difference in kills is not that huge but it makes You more consistent. I usually average like 25 to 35 kills, in some matches I peak and get 35+. With more hours You become more skilled aimwise and get better gamesense. If I could Say something about the aim You get with a 144hz monitor is it becomes more smooth, You react a little better and flicks become more consistent, so to end this sh i Say ""maybe"" TLDR: no, it doesnt make You s1mple or Zywoo alike and it isnt a visible improvement but it does make you a little better.
2022-10-05 19:49
So had to get back at 75 Hz decided to quit C's not only reason but yeah, also if u play on low tick rate matters way way less almost no diference

I went from silver to gold nova when I bought a gaming mouse. And went from gold nova to DMG with a 144 Hz monitor. Maybe if I buy a new PC I go to global elite? Maybe even faceit level 4?

Absolutely, and a small bit from 144hz to 240hz. Info is gained sooner, display is smoother so you can aim a bit crisper

yes. you basically would vomit at 60hz if you play at 144 for a few hours. I went from 60hz -> 80hz (OC) -> 75hz -> 144hz -> 165hz (OC) it's always better.

2022-10-06 00:05
no its about the same. it just aoppaer smoother but the reality your skill level will be more or less. Its more of a marketing strategy + placebo
2022-10-06 02:37
It's quite noticeable on fast movements. My flick accuracy definitely improved after switching to 144Hz and later to 270Hz, and i naturally found it easier to win my duels and rank up. That said, no, you don't NEED a higher refresh rate monitor, it's not a end-all be-all, but it definitely helps.
2022-10-06 02:52
you have no idea how smoother it is, even mouse feels smoother on desktop, try scrolling word document as well, it's muuuuch better! i had 3 60hz monitors, now i have 2 144hz, its cool
2022-10-06 02:53
i legitimately didnt notice a difference. i average 300 fps and obviously changed settings to 144hz. i have a 60hz monitor as my second monitor and i can notice that it is slower but without the side by side i see no difference whatsoever
2022-10-06 03:53
its more of a quality of life thing in my opinion but Linus tech tips did a test with shroud for the exact thing your talking about and their answer was yes

Went from 60hz to 144 to 240 benq and the difference is obvious
2022-10-06 07:28
First I really didn´t see much of a difference when I changed from 60Hz to 144Hz but after using 144 for a while, 60Hz feels kinda a shitty even in a normal use, so I also had to upgrade my laptop to 144Hz model, even though I don´t play anything with my laptop.

theres no difference its a scam your eyes only see 60hz the rest is just inputlag of the monitors visualization technologies. it doesnt actually make game smoother

Keep in mind that you also need a PC that can run the game 144fps or there is no point in buying the monitor
